Yesterday's State of Play
-- FORGOTTEN, FORGIVEN: PiS's SINS ARE EXPIRING. THE DAM AGAINST KACZYŃSKI'S RETURN TO POWER IS CRACKING - MARIUSZ JANICKI IN TYGODNIK POLITYKA: “One can feel today that the dam is cracking, that PiS's return to power is already being permitted, something that a year or two ago was unimaginable for the entire democratic community. This means there's an acceptance of the relapse of a party that dismantled the Constitutional Tribunal, the judiciary, the media, seized institutions, transferred hundreds of millions to friendly organizations and circles, mercilessly attacked political rivals, eavesdropped on the opposition, expressed outrageous opinions, ruined the country's position in the EU and international structures, patronized draconian anti-abortion regulations, introduced 'LGBT-free zones,' etc.”
-- IT'S EVIDENT THAT PiS IS STARTING TO BE TREATED SELECTIVELY; CERTAIN FIGURES ARE NOT MENTIONED, VIEWS ARE SILENCED, SITUATIONS ARE FORGOTTEN - CONTINUES THE FIRST DEPUTY EDITOR-IN-CHIEF OF TYGODNIK POLITYKA: “It's evident that PiS is starting to be treated selectively; certain figures are not mentioned, views are silenced, situations are forgotten. Czarnek is not Kaczyński's weapon in the upcoming elections, as he represents the old, 'caveman' PiS. Now, Morawiecki and Nawrocki are attracting liberal circles much more effectively. And perhaps this captured segment of a few percent of former democrats will prove decisive in 2027.”
-- TODAY, SPEAKING OF THE PAST SINS OF KACZYŃSKI'S PARTY IS ALMOST IN BAD TASTE, BASED ON THE PRINCIPLE OF "DON'T BORE US ANYMORE," "YAWN," "FOCUS ON TUSK AND HIS PARTY." CRITICISM OF NAWROCKI, ON THE OTHER HAND, IS CONSIDERED THE PETTINESS OF "LOSERS" - MARIUSZ JANICKI AGAIN: “Therefore, today, speaking of the past sins of Kaczyński's party is almost in bad taste, based on the principle of 'don't bore us anymore,' 'yawn,' 'focus on Tusk and his party.' Criticism of Nawrocki, on the other hand, is considered the pettiness of 'losers.' There's a visible satisfaction that Tusk and Civic Coalition (KO) are having problems. A similar process is occurring as a decade ago, when it seemed that after PiS's first term in office from 2005–07, the party's return to power was impossible, that people wouldn't be fooled twice because they had seen the terrible policies, the cynical alliance with Lepper and his spectacular destruction, the absurd struggles with Giertych's LPR, and then the grand final altercation and early elections. From a liberal perspective, it seemed so embarrassing that it had no right to return. However, after eight years, a refreshed and 'makeup-ed' PiS reappeared, to the applause of the audience. And now it's starting to reappear again.”
-- TODAY'S OPINION POLL RESULTS FOR PiS SHOULD NOT BE MISLEADING; SIMPLY PUT, THE VOTERS OF THIS FORMATION HAVE BECOME A BIT SCATTERED ACROSS THE ENTIRE RIGHT-WING SPECTRUM, YOUNG PEOPLE HAVE EMERGED, BUT IT IS STILL KACZYŃSKI'S PARTY THAT CALLS THE SHOTS - CLAIMS MARIUSZ JANICKI IN TYGODNIK POLITYKA: “Much indicates that this cycle has shortened even further, and today's opinion poll results for PiS should not be misleading; simply put, the voters of this formation have become a bit scattered across the entire right-wing spectrum, young people have emerged, but it is still Kaczyński's party that calls the shots, and it always gained a few points in campaigns. Speculations that the situation has changed, that PiS is no longer so strong, that it will be held back by coalition partners in government, are not very serious.”
-- ANOTHER WAVE OF DOUBT ARRIVED AFTER THE HIGH-PROFILE CASE OF A DOCTOR – A CIVIC COALITION (KO) COUNCILLOR WITH MILLIONS IN EARNINGS AND A VIP LOUNGE - JANICKI AGAIN: “Indeed, within the entire disappointment and criticism towards Tusk's government lies a significant understatement, even a kind of taboo: namely, if not this government, then what comes after it? What is the alternative? The rule of Civic Coalition with its allies may improve a bit, some concepts and moves might appear, but the question remains: what if it doesn't? Some say they won't go to the polls, meaning they won't directly support PiS, because their hand would still wither, but they are also no longer able to vote for Civic Coalition. Another wave of doubt came after the high-profile case of a doctor – a Civic Coalition (KO) councillor with millions in earnings and a VIP lounge.”

– PATIENTS ADMITTED TO THE EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT DIED WITHOUT CARE; STAFF MEMBERS WOULD "REMEMBER" THEM AFTER SEVERAL HOURS AND PERFORM CT SCANS TO MARK SOMETHING. PEOPLE ARE DYING THERE BECAUSE SOMEONE IS LEARNING. Every death in the emergency department should be analyzed – so said Dr. Emil Jędrzejewski, former head of surgery, about the functioning of the Emergency Department at Szpital Południowy, speaking to Krzysztof Stanowski on Kanał Zero. He was the one who informed Rafał Trzaskowski about the irregularities. – In your opinion, is Dawid Kacprzyk responsible for people dying there? – Stanowski asked directly.

-- THE PRIME MINISTER IS NOT IN A GOOD MOOD - IWONA SZPAŁA'S SOURCE IN GW: “- All scenarios are possible. Very significant dissatisfaction is palpable, and Tusk has not yet made final decisions – admits a person from the prime minister's circle. The interlocutor of 'Gazeta Wyborcza' points out that the scandal at the Warsaw hospital is another – after Kraków – misstep by Civic Coalition. There, local elites were accused of nepotism, and KO lost the mayor after a referendum. The defeat of Aleksander Miszalski caused Tusk to dissolve the local party structures. Is a similar scenario possible in Warsaw? – Nothing can be ruled out. The prime minister is not in a good mood.”

-- THE LEFT HOPES THAT THE IMAGE CRISIS OF TUSK'S PARTY WILL CAUSE SOME VOTERS WHO SHIFTED TO CIVIC COALITION TO RETURN TO WŁODZIMIERZ CZARZASTY'S PARTY - JACEK NIZINKIEWICZ IN RZ: “The Left hopes that the image crisis of Tusk's party will cause some voters who drifted to Civic Coalition to return to Włodzimierz Czarzasty's party. Polska 2050 remembers how Civic Coalition grilled Pełczyńska-Nałęcz's party over irregularities in the disbursement of KPO funds. For the Polish People's Party (PSL), a weaker Civic Coalition offers a better negotiating position in the government, but also in the event of forming common lists.”
– DONALD IS NO LONGER AS STRONG, BUT THE DROPS IN SUPPORT FOR KO WILL BE PAINFUL. WE NEED TO REARRANGE THINGS. THIS IS THE MOMENT – TELLS "RZ" ONE OF THE DEPUTY PRIME MINISTERS - still in Nizinkiewicz's article in Rzeczpospolita.
-- NIZINKIEWICZ ON THE IMPENDING RECONSTRUCTION AND THE PROFESSOR-DOCTOR: “The politician adds that Tusk will not dismiss ministers dictated by the opposition and the media, but during the reconstruction, her days are numbered. – We need a professor doctor with authority, but also political strength – says one of the deputy prime ministers about the future minister of health who is to replace Jolanta Sobierańska-Grenda.”

-- HOSPITAL SUPERVISORY BOARDS FULL OF POLITICIANS - MICHAŁ WOJTCZUK IN GW: “The question remains open whether politicians will also disappear from hospitals subordinate to the regional self-government. Because the supervisory boards there are full of Civic Coalition activists, placed on the basis of reciprocal exchange: Warsaw activists end up in Mazovian companies, and Mazovian ones – in Warsaw ones. This principle does not only apply to hospital companies – many (most?) municipal companies serve as a reservoir of positions for activists.”

-- CIVIC COALITION'S POLITICS IS SWAYING TO THE RHYTHM OF INTERNET OUTRAGE WAVES; FAITH REMAINS THAT THIS THEATER HAS SOME BACKSTAGE WHERE SOME SENSIBLE PEOPLE ARE SERIOUSLY DISCUSSING THE STATE'S INTEREST - JERZY BACZYŃSKI IN TYGODNIK POLITYKA: “Polish politics, both foreign and domestic, is swaying to the rhythm (or: algorithm) of internet outrage waves. We are governed today by rapid emotions, polls, and blackmail. Faith remains that this theater has some backstage, where some sensible people are seriously discussing the state's interest. But I might be mistaken.”

-- LISTEN TO WHAT WE HAVE TO SAY, BECAUSE THE CURRENT DEVELOPMENT MODEL IS ENDING - RAFAŁ BRZOSKA IN INTERIA: “– We are debunking the myth that the state supports the state. No, the state does not support the state. And if we look at the fact that today only 3% of young Poles want to start a business, we have a major warning signal that this engine, which is the Polish economy based on private business, is starting to seize up. If it seizes up, we will not be able to afford many projects that we all want to implement in the coming years – he adds. Therefore, today Polish entrepreneurs are saying: 'Stop, let's seriously discuss what we should all do as citizens of this country to push Poland towards growth again, and not based on cheap labor, as has been the case for the last 35 years' – enumerates the InPost CEO. At the same time, he admits that this is not another initiative aimed at expressing that entrepreneurs in Poland are facing obstacles.”

-- EUROPE IS LOSING COMPETITIVENESS, AMONG OTHER THINGS, DUE TO HIGH ENERGY PRICES - XYZ ON THE REPORT OF BRZOSKA'S NEW INITIATIVE: “The energy theme also resonates strongly in the declaration. The authors point out that Europe is losing competitiveness, among other things, due to high energy prices. This is particularly significant for Poland, as energy costs are hitting industry, investments, and the development of new sectors, including the data-driven economy, automation, and artificial intelligence. Without stable, predictable, and competitive energy prices, it will be difficult to maintain production, attract investment, and scale up the operations of domestic companies.”
