-- SIKORSKI "WAS READY TO GRANT ASYLUM AND AN ORDER" TO SUSPECT IN SABOTAGING RUSSIAN GAS PIPELINE - JERZY HASZCZYŃSKI IN RZ: "As 'Rzeczpospolita' learned from well-informed Polish sources, Minister of Foreign Affairs Radosław Sikorski repeatedly stated in conversations that he would be ready to grant Volodymyr Z. asylum in our country and award him an order. At the same time, Polish authorities emphasize that nothing has yet been proven against Volodymyr Z., and he remains one of the suspects."

-- WOULD THE WHITE HOUSE'S RELATIONS WITH THE CURRENT GOVERNMENT IMPROVE IF WŁADYSŁAW KOSINIAK-KAMYSZ BECAME PRIME MINISTER OF POLAND? MICHAŁ KAMIŃSKI IS PLAYING A BIG GAME - JACEK NIZINKIEWICZ IN RZ: "According to our information, Michał Kamiński is responsible for the good relations between the head of the Ministry of National Defence and Trump's people. During his recent visit to the USA, he met, among others, with a close associate of the US President – the Director of the White House's Counterterrorism Directorate, Sebastian Gorka. – I don't want to discuss who I meet with at the White House, as that's not how diplomacy works. I am working for Poland and for the improvement of our relations with the USA – Michał Kamiński tells us."

-- WŁADYSŁAW KOSINIAK-KAMYSZ IS SATISFIED WITH MICHAŁ KAMIŃSKI - NIZINKIEWICZ CONTINUES: "Deputy Prime Minister Kosiniak-Kamysz is satisfied with Kamiński's work in building independent relations between PSL and the White House. Waldemar Pawlak, a PSL politician who is one of the initiators of Kamiński's mission, when asked about it by 'Rzeczpospolita', responded vaguely but acceptingly: – In such situations, it is good to rely on a broader group of advisors, not just individuals, and one must consider the objective views of the entire caucus."

-- WARSAW RESIDENTS HAVE NO RIGHT TO A QUIET NIGHT. BECAUSE SOME GROUP MUST BLOW OFF STEAM AT NIGHT - MARIUSZ JAŁOSZEWSKI IN OKO.PRESS: "The councillors have failed to notice that Warsaw simply wants to sleep. That it has had enough of nocturnal (illegal) motorcycle and car rallies with souped-up, roaring engines. That it has had enough of drunken brawls in the streets and roars piercing the night. And this happens because people wander to night shops and petrol stations for alcohol. The city does nothing about it. The police supposedly react, but patrols arrive at interventions at night after nearly an hour, and sometimes three. Because there's a shortage of police officers. There are 2,600 unfilled positions in the police in the capital! The effect is that Warsaw residents have no right to a quiet night. Because some group must blow off steam at night. And KO councillors justified blocking the night-time prohibition by the right to freedom."

-- APPARENTLY, THE POINT WAS TO SHOW TRZASKOWSKI HIS PLACE. SO THAT HE WOULD NOT EVEN THINK OF STARTING HIS OWN PARTY, BUT THIS WILL CAUSE DIFFICULT-TO-ESTIMATE LOSSES FOR TUSK'S PARTY, NOT JUST IMAGE-WISE - JAŁOSZEWSKI IN OKO CONTINUES: "Apparently, the point was to show Trzaskowski his place in the ranks. So that he would not even think of starting his own party. The topic is not dying down. On Monday, September 22, 2025, Prime Minister Tusk, who according to some media gave Kierwiński the green light, announced that the councillors' decision was a mistake. And on Tuesday, September 23, Lewica submitted a bill to the Sejm limiting alcohol sales nationwide. The topic will continue to be discussed. Therefore, the vote by Warsaw councillors against the night-time prohibition will cause difficult-to-estimate losses for Tusk's party, not just in terms of image."

-- IT COULD WEAKEN ITS POWER IN THE CAPITAL, AND SOMEDAY EVEN LEAD TO A CHANGE OF PRESIDENT; PEOPLE WILL CHANGE THE PRESIDENT IF HE DOESN'T SPEED UP AND STAND UP TO THE PARTY HARDLINERS - JAŁOSZEWSKI FURTHER IN OKO: "The internet was abuzz with critical comments for several days. Many KO voters are disgruntled. In the long run, this will translate into Tusk's party's ratings in Warsaw. It could weaken its power in the capital, and one day even lead to a change of president. And this is not idle talk. The councillors of the capital, as well as the president who yielded to them, have lost so-called political hearing. They don't hear the expectations, they don't feel the mood of their voters. They are not keeping up with them. Sooner or later, people will vote with their feet. They will change councillors who have been in office for several terms and have settled in well. They will also change the president if he doesn't speed up and stand up to the party hardliners."

-- DEVELOPERS ARE ARRANGING THE CITY, DICTATING THEIR TERMS - JAŁOSZEWSKI WRITES FURTHER IN OKO.PRESS: "And developers on top of that. On the outskirts, they are arranging the city, dictating their terms. They don't want to hand over roads and underground utilities to the municipality for free, demanding high prices for them. The effect is that after years, there is no one to repair them. Residents are trapped, forced to live with developers who just keep adding more blocks like in barracks to squeeze the most out of the plot. And green areas, public infrastructure, etc.? Who would care about that. Officials shrug their shoulders – you moved to the countryside, now suffer."

-- SINCE 2015, PRACTICALLY NO MAJOR INVESTMENT HAS BEEN MADE, APART FROM THE CONTINUED CONSTRUCTION OF THE METRO. PRESIDENT TRZASKOWSKI SLEPT THROUGH THE BEGINNING OF HIS TERM, BUT THIS IS NOT A VISION/DREAM ON THE SCALE OF STARYNKIEWICZ AND STARZYŃSKI - JAŁOSZEWSKI AGAIN: "Since 2015, practically no major investment has been made, apart from the continued construction of the metro. President Trzaskowski slept through the beginning of his first term. He started to pick up pace towards its end, coming up with concrete ideas, like the New Warsaw Centre. But this is not a vision/dream on the scale of Starynkiewicz and Starzyński. They dreamed big plans at a time when Warsaw was poor. They didn't say it couldn't be done, but rolled up their sleeves and worked hard."

-- PLANTING TREES ON MARSZAŁKOWSKA IS ELEVATED TO THE RANK OF SUCCESS. BUT WHY DID PRESIDENT TRZASKOWSKI PROCLAIM THE PEDESTRIAN CROSSING ON WISŁOSTRADA, EXTENDING THE FOOTBRIDGE OVER THE VISTULA, AS A GREAT SUCCESS? AFTER ALL, IT'S JUST PAINTED LINES ON ASPHALT - JAŁOSZEWSKI WRITES FURTHER: "Planting trees on Marszałkowska, laying the Defilad Square with new tiles, or building pedestrian crossings in the very center is elevated to the rank of success. Yes, this is not a joke. These changes are, of course, necessary (especially planting trees) and awaited by activists and residents. But why did President Trzaskowski proclaim the pedestrian crossing on Wisłostrada, at the extension of the footbridge over the Vistula, as a great success? After all, it's just painted lines on asphalt and the installation of a few traffic lights. Perhaps because he was fighting for the presidential seat and even such a small success was worth its weight in gold."

-- THE CAPITAL NEEDS A PRESIDENT WHO HAS GREAT WARSAW DREAMS AND THE WILL TO WORK HARD - MARIUSZ JAŁOSZEWSKI AGAIN IN OKO: "Therefore, the capital needs a president who has great Warsaw dreams and the will to work hard. Such a president must surround himself with like-minded people. He cannot treat his position as a stepping stone to national politics. He must focus solely on the city. And Trzaskowski has already twice wanted to move to the Presidential Palace."

-- IN FOUR YEARS, PO MAY RECEIVE AT LEAST A YELLOW CARD IN THE CAPITAL - JAŁOSZEWSKI CLAIMS: "The possibilities and money are there. One only needs to know how – unfortunately – to fight for them. If the city doesn't move forward more decisively and doesn't listen to its residents, then in four years PO may receive at least a yellow card in the capital."

-- THE FALL OF CIVIC PLATFORM UNDER THE CENTRAL STATION ADAM TRACZYK - POLITICAL SCIENTIST, SOCIAL ACTIVIST, AND COMMENTATOR, AND DIRECTOR OF MORE IN COMMON POLAND IN KULTURA LIBERALNA: "The night-time prohibition in Warsaw is not the most important challenge facing Poland today. However, it has revealed problems that the largest ruling party is grappling with. By rejecting the night-time restriction on alcohol sales in Warsaw, Civic Platform has shown itself to be a backward-looking and irrational force."

-- TRZASKOWSKI GOVERNS WARSAW CAUTIOUSLY, CONSERVATIVELY, WITHOUT RISK, BUT ALSO WITHOUT MUCH SPARK - TRACZYK CONTINUES IN KULTURA LIBERALNA: "Trzaskowski governs Warsaw cautiously, conservatively, without risk, but also without much spark. He is changing the capital incrementally, with small steps. This was even evident in his proposal regarding the night-time prohibition. The presidential proposal assumed its introduction between 11 PM and 6 AM, not from 10 PM, as Lewica and MJN wanted. Thus, prohibition according to Trzaskowski would not have changed the operating rules of popular convenience store chains with 'small shot' in their name."

-- HOW SERIOUSLY SHOULD WE TAKE THIS – TRACZYK ASKS: "How seriously should we take the words about speeding up and learning lessons after losing the presidential elections, when barely a few months later voters are presented with disgraceful squabbles in the mud? These are problems that the party rebranding announced for autumn will not cover up."
