-- TODAY'S STATE OF PLAY ORIGINATED AT KRAKOW'S MARKET.
-- KOMOROWSKI RETURN 90 MILLION - SE headline: “Questions written on the fly! Referendum announced only to retain power. 90 million PLN was spent on yesterday's vote. That's money thrown away. - The decision to organize this referendum was fatal. Bronisław Komorowski (63), Civic Platform, should return this money - says Prof. Ryszard Bugaj (71), economist, to us”.
-- KOMOROWSKI GOT THE CHEAPEST APARTMENT IN THE CAPITAL - as Mikołaj Wójcik writes on Fakt's front page: Bronisław Komorowski pays up to 4 times less than market price for renting an apartment in the heart of the city! - reports "Fakt". He signed the contract with the Chancellery of the President when he himself was president, just before leaving office. At the same time, he rents out his own apartment for much more.

-- PAWEŁ WROŃSKI IN GW ON THE REFERENDUM: “Never before have so many people for so much money been engaged in something that turned out to be irrelevant from a political point of view”.
-- WROŃSKI ON PO AND THE REFERENDUM: QUIET OVER THIS BALLOT BOX: “The result will also not positively influence the election campaign of Civic Platform, whose senators voted for it, although it must be admitted that PO approached the referendum perfunctorily. The referendum campaign was miserable. PO's posters only concerned the second question, which was about party financing from the budget. Many PO politicians believe that the introduction of the single-mandate constituency system could be more harmful than maintaining the current system. Now, PO would most gladly exclaim: 'Quiet over this ballot box!'”.
-- PIOTR BURAS IN GW CRITICIZES PEK FOR LEGITIMIZING ORBAN AND FICO: “photos of the Polish Prime Minister with Viktor Orban and Robert Fico, who in recent weeks have effectively stoked anti-immigrant emotions, will hardly improve our image in the EU. The joint declaration on the crisis signed in Prague not only places us in very questionable company but is also an expression of a socially harmful narrative about migration and refugee problems”.
-- TIME FOR REAL ELECTIONS - according to Andrzej Stankiewicz, the election campaign is just beginning: “The duel between PO and PiS over referendums has ended. The actual election campaign is beginning”.
-- PIS HAS A GOVERNMENT READY APART FROM SZYDŁO, writes Andrzej Stankiewicz in RZ: “According to our information, the PiS leader already has a ready composition for some positions and – apart from Szydło – is holding talks with candidates for key institutions”.
-- STANKIEWICZ ON MICHAŁ KAMIŃSKI'S INFLUENCE ON PEK - further in RZ: “Kopacz's political advisor is the former PiS propagandist Michał Kamiński, and he – not the PO authorities – decides on both the campaign and the party lists. Kopacz is surprisingly dependent on Kamiński, which causes astonishment and fury within PO”.
-- RAFAŁ SKĄPSKI ON THE UNITED LEFT LISTS - as Iwona Szpala and Michał Wojtczuk write in Gazeta Stołeczna: “Nowicka is not the only strong name on the United Left coalition's Warsaw list. Second is Katarzyna Piekarska, one of the most popular faces of SLD, a Masovian councilor. Third place went to Krystian Legierski, an LGBT activist, fourth – Piotr Szumlewicz, advisor and expert at OPZZ, author of the book 'Atheist's Essential Guide'. Joanna Erbel, an urban activist who ran for Mayor of Warsaw in 2014 (finished with 2.41% support), is running with the fifth spot. Sixth place went to Andrzej Dołecki, leader of the Free Hemp movement fighting for the legalization of marijuana. However, it is not 100% certain whether he will definitely run from Warsaw and not choose the second spot on the list from Wrocław. Eighth is Rafał Skąpski, former Deputy Minister of Culture, president of the esteemed PIW publishing house (the publishing house faced liquidation, but over the weekend the Minister of Culture announced that it would be de-indebted and transformed into a National Cultural Institution). Piotr Gadzinowski, former MP of SLD, traditionally took the last spot. Wanda Nowicka, a feminist and Deputy Marshal of the Sejm, will open the United Left's suburban list”.
-- HALF A BILLION PLN ANNUALLY - the cost of maintaining refugees, as reported by DGP on its front page.
-- EWA SIEDLECKA ON DARIUSZ BARSKI IN THE NATIONAL PROSECUTION COUNCIL - writes in GW: “Dariusz Barski will replace Edward Zalewski, who represented President Bronisław Komorowski there and held the position of Council Chairman. This means that the Council will have to elect a new chairman”.
-- 30% FOR ACCEPTING REFUGEES - according to an IBRIS poll for RZ: “What to do about the mass influx of refugees? For almost one-third of Poles, the recipe is to close borders, including those within the European Union. Another 18% would create camps outside the EU. Or perhaps accept immigrants? 30% of respondents are in favor of this”.
-- JAKUB RUTNICKI IN SE ON REFUGEES: “It is difficult to speak specifically about numbers. Poland should be solidarity-based, but let's realize that 10, 20, or 40 thousand require huge outlays, and for today, it would probably be too much. The head of government must ensure that such an action is rational and well-organized”.
-- MACIEJ GIERTYCH ON REFUGEES says in an interview with SE: “- I don't look at it through the prism of profit or loss. I look at it primarily from the perspective of mercy towards defenseless and lost victims of war. Those who are only interested in improving their living conditions should manage on their own”. http://www.se.pl/wiadomosci/opinie/maciej-giertych-uchodzcy-nie-widze-problemu_674562.html
-- ISRAELI ROBOT THAT DOES NOT EXIST WON THE TENDER IN THE MINISTRY OF NATIONAL DEFENSE OVER POLISH PRODUCTS - writes Paweł Wroński in GW: “It won the tender for reconnaissance robots, even though its prototype has not yet been created, it has worse properties, and is developed in an imperial system. The Polish design lost. - I can only sympathize, everything was done in accordance with the law - says Gen. Adam Duda, head of the MON Armament Inspectorate”.
-- THE FIRST LADY LIKE LEWECKA - SE headline.
-- SLD ACTIVIST BROKE ANGELA'S HEART - SE headline.
-- KACZYŃSKA AND DUBIENIECKI WILL MEET IN PRISON - SE headline.
-- 8 YEARS AGO, the Sejm shortened its term and opened the way to PiS's electoral defeat.
-- BIRTHDAYS: Jerzy Stępień, Fr. Tadeusz Isakowicz-Zaleski.
