- We were at the Constitutional Tribunal today. It is our duty, after the oath taken yesterday at the filing office of the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland, to immediately begin performing our duties as judges – Krystian Markiewicz told reporters in front of the Constitutional Tribunal headquarters.

“We Entered the Building Without Problems”

- We were there yesterday, and we are here today. We managed to enter the Constitutional Tribunal building without any significant issues. We were provided with decent conditions. For now, we have a shared room. Naturally, the situation is different for Judge Bentkowska and Judge Szostek, who have been allocated their own rooms. We do not have separate rooms, but we have been assured that entering the Constitutional Tribunal building is entirely possible – he continued.

“We Filed a Letter to the President”

- But it's not just about entering the Constitutional Tribunal building, but about performing our fundamental judicial functions, which involve making rulings. Therefore, we have submitted a letter to the President, which is a response to our conversation yesterday, requesting that we be allowed to perform our official duties as judges of the Constitutional Tribunal – he stated.

- We also submitted documentation […], we submitted the signed oath along with a document, proof that it was taken before the President, in the presence of the President, also with the protocol from yesterday's oath. And we request that the President fulfill the obligation that stems from the law – he continued.

Markiewicz stated that he and the other three judges expect to be assigned offices, issued building access cards, granted access to information systems, and assigned cases.

- Given that the President spoke yesterday about the need for communication with the Chancellery of the President, we have also requested clarification of the legal basis for such an expectation. In our opinion, there is none – he added.
