Maternity Leave Sickness Benefits: ZUS to Pay Pregnant Women from Day One. Poland 2050 Submits Bill

Mateusz Nowak

"Currently, if a pregnant woman goes on sick leave, the employer pays for the first 33 days. For many companies, especially small ones, this is a huge cost, and as a result, women are treated as a 'risk'. Because of this, they are pushed towards 'mandate contracts' or simply rejected during recruitment, just like Ms. Klaudia. This cannot continue" - wrote Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz on X.

"Today, Poland 2050 has submitted a bill that will ensure ZUS pays for a pregnant woman's sick leave from the first day. Employers will cease to incur additional costs, and young women will finally be treated fairly in the labor market." - she continued in her post.
