Żurek on Next Steps Regarding the National Council of the Judiciary:
I Won't Say What Plan C Is. Of Course, It Exists.
- The resolution regarding the National Council of the Judiciary (KRS) has been adopted, and at the same time, motions from Law and Justice MPs and the KRS itself have been submitted to the Constitutional Tribunal to block the election of the KRS according to the scheme you proposed, i.e., the so-called, let's say, Plan B, where judges themselves choose those who they believe should be members of the KRS, and then the Sejm, generally speaking, rubber-stamps this choice. So, what is Plan C? - Marek Tejchman asked during the program "Gość Wydarzeń" on Polsat News.
- I won't say what Plan C is. Of course, it exists, but first, I will say that this resolution is a success because the judicial community wants to rebuild the KRS in line with our Constitution, but we also need to prevent enormous compensation payments that we have to make every day from the state budget [...] because we are losing cases in European courts - replied Waldemar Żurek.
- In my opinion, we will not have two KRSs - he continued later in the conversation, when asked if we would have two KRSs.
- That will be Plan C - he added, when asked what would happen if the current KRS does not vacate the premises.
- There are no forceful plans; there is the rule of law and a state that must be effective - he emphasized.
