Parliament's Statement on Security Questionnaire:
Misunderstanding Stemming from Ignorance or Misleading the Public.
- The expectation that the Marshal of the Sejm should fill out a security questionnaire stems from a misunderstanding due to ignorance or from misleading public opinion. The scrutiny to which the Marshal of the Sejm is subjected is constant and more stringent than any scrutiny resulting from survey procedures - the Chancellery of the Sejm wrote in a statement.
"The Marshal of the Sejm has access to strictly secret information by law and is under constant counterintelligence protection from Polish services. What is more – as the second person in the state, having contact with the heads of special services, he himself requested additional counterintelligence verification of his contacts and received clear information: there are absolutely no reservations. This fact was publicly confirmed by the coordinator for special services, Tomasz Siemoniak.
The Marshal of the Sejm does not fill out the questionnaires mentioned in the media, as they are intended for individuals with lower access levels. Moreover, if he were to request verification from the Internal Security Agency (ABW) through this channel, it would have to refuse (Article 34 of the Act on the Protection of Classified Information). The second person in the state is controlled through different, ongoing, real-time procedures and is informed about any counterintelligence threats. If there were any problem, there would not be a positive statement from the coordinator of the services, and access to secret information would be restricted."
