Żurek:
Nisztor Has Been Granted Protection
- I know that your colleague [Piotr Nisztor, the minister was speaking to a representative of Republika - ed.] has already been granted protection because he felt threatened, and the state acted in such a way that it first provides protection to a potential victim - said Waldemar Żurek at a press conference at the Ministry of Justice.
- This means that proceedings have been initiated. As for whether this officer of the Government Protection Bureau (SOP) is walking free - that is the responsibility of the prosecution. If the prosecutor considers the level of threat to be high enough that this person should be temporarily detained, then the court will decide on that. But first, there must be a motion from the appropriate prosecutor - he continued.
As he announced: - We will have a press conference next week. I promise that by this conference, I will be better prepared on this matter of this specific question and will explain why the prosecution applied this measure here, that we are protecting a potential victim, but did not deem it necessary, because it seems to me that there is no motion for temporary detention, [...] to temporarily detain the potential perpetrator today.
