Nowacka Responds to Nawrocki's Veto:
The Dogs Bark, the Caravan Moves On. The Reform Will Come into Effect.
- We expected a veto, but the reasoning is absolutely shockingly pathetic. The President seems to think he is vetoing core curriculum issues, but in reality, he is vetoing a larger subsidy for textbooks. The President seems to think he is vetoing issues concerning health education, but in reality, he is vetoing support in directing children to MOWs (Młodzieżowe Ośrodki Wychowawcze - Youth Educational Centers) - said Barbara Nowacka at a press conference.

The President seems to think he is vetoing changes in the Polish language, but in reality, he is taking away opportunities from all children across the country, for example, for project weeks or educational experiences - she continued.

- But Mr. President, the dogs bark, the caravan moves on. The core curriculum is undergoing consultation. The 'Compass of Tomorrow' reform will come into effect - emphasized the Minister of Education.
- Why? Because this is a well-thought-out project prepared by practicing teachers, with the support of the Educational Research Institute, based on practices that have been in place for years in schools where principals have strength, energy, determination, and teachers have ideas and know that agency is a key competency - she further stated.
"The President Has Chosen the Elitarization of Education"
- In this act, we proposed that every child, regardless of whether they have such a principal, or are in a non-public school, or in a public school that would also change thanks to the reform and will change, should have the same opportunities - she explained.
- The President has chosen the elitarization of education, meaning that where teachers have doubts, or a principal lacks motivation, or a local government does not want to invest in education, these good practices developed by practicing teachers may not be implemented - she stated.
