At its first session in 2026 – scheduled for January 8th and 9th – the Sejm may consider the government's draft bill on the status of a next-of-kin in a relationship and a cohabitation agreement, along with its implementing provisions.

According to the current version of the schedule, these two projects may be added to the agenda – provided the Council of Ministers adopts the project and forwards it to the Sejm.

Following the first reading, a motion to reject will likely be submitted, which in practice means another test for the ruling coalition in a vote. Rejection of the motion will result in the proposal being sent for committee work.
