- The moment the decision was made for [health education] not to be compulsory, the consequence was obvious. When I hear students saying it's great, I immediately have to ask: so why don't you try attending? But that's unfortunately how it goes with non-compulsory subjects. The same would happen if mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, or geography were non-compulsory, but I won't allow that - said Barbara Nowacka at a press conference at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister.

- Please imagine what would happen in schools if there was a decision for it to be compulsory in the first year. We'd have the entire conspiracy crowd descending on us, who, just like in the case of HPV vaccinations, tried to disrupt order and peace in schools - she stated.

- Let's give parents time, let's give society time. I hope that teachers and school principals will also see how great the need is among young people for exactly this kind of subject - she added.
