Żurek:
SLPS was called a "ziobrolotek" by judges and caused chaos. We want to do it differently
- A storm erupted over how cases should be assigned. Should the SLPS randomly assign all three judges, or just the rapporteur? We are introducing new solutions - said Waldemar Żurek in a recording published on X.
- The SLPS, or System for Random Case Assignment, was until now called a "ziobrolotek" by judges because one person in the Ministry of Justice could determine what would be assigned to whom. That's what IT specialists say - he continued.
- We want to do it differently. The rapporteur will be randomly assigned, but the department head in each court will be able to select the remaining two members of the panel according to a clear procedure established by the president, and which has been reviewed by the collegium - he went on to say.
- This is important because this "ziobrolotek" caused chaos in the departments. In reality, it was very difficult to form panels; these random assignments resulted in one judge being on multiple panels, running between hearings, which prolonged proceedings - he added.
- We want to restore a situation where we can resolve cases more quickly. I hope this will prove effective in practice - he stressed.
