Żurek:

I'm Appalled by Certain Things in the Prosecutor's Office. There are Groups Appointed by the Former Minister, and We Don't Have Access to Investigations

- After a few weeks in office, I have familiarized myself with how the prosecutor's office functions, and I am appalled by certain things - Waldemar Żurek said on Polsat News. - The prosecutor's office has been cemented, meaning we have groups of prosecutors appointed by a minister who has long since ceased to govern, and we don't have access to investigations, and certain investigations are dragging on - he continued, when asked what appalled him. - One could put it picturesquely [that investigations are in safes to which the current management does not have keys], and this is precisely, in my opinion, the creation of such a pathological system where there is a Prosecutor General, subordinate to him a National Prosecutor, to whom subordinate are national prosecutors who have a certain area and say 'this is our area, please don't look here.' This prosecutor's office, which functions in a hierarchical system, cannot function, and I will try to change that - he went on to say.
