- I am convinced that if it weren't for the immense tension generated by the right-wing around education, a subject needed for children and youth would have had a chance to be mandatory - said Barbara Nowacka on TVN24, when asked about health education. - An enormous campaign against a subject that is meant to protect youth from addictions, that is meant to give them tools regarding mental health - she continued. - This is not about us. It's really not about politicians. In the end, it's about teachers and peace in schools. You know, Minister Leszczyna and I introduced the possibility of HPV vaccination in schools. There was a gigantic campaign against this as well, including intrusions by various groups into schools - she went on, responding to the suggestion "you could have not given in to this campaign". - Teachers and principals were intimidated. There were threatening phone calls, insults, and verbal attacks online as well. I have to protect the school, I have to protect teachers from the 'shurii' - she added. - I am deeply convinced [that in the case of mandatory health education, such phenomena could have intensified], because I see a completely deceitful campaign concerning this subject - she emphasized.
