Duda:

I Absolutely Do Not Regret My Veto on Judicial Reform. It Could Have Ended Tragically for United Right

- This is a person who was carrying out orders, obviously of Minister Zbigniew Ziobro, who at that time, in the proposed judicial reform of 2017, had a simple goal to achieve; he wanted to personally handle the verification of Supreme Court judges - President Andrzej Duda said in Polsat News, when asked about Patryk Jaki's words: "this weakness of his [President Duda's] regarding the system led to this separatist, judicial state being impunity." - I, by blocking that law then, considering it absolutely unacceptable for someone who is simultaneously the Prosecutor General, and therefore, de facto represents in many criminal cases before the Supreme Court [...] there cannot be a situation where a party in cases before the Supreme Court verifies Supreme Court judges [...] this is unacceptable - he continued. - I absolutely do not regret those vetoes, I believe that they [the reforms] could have ended completely tragically for United Right then, not only because the entire reform would have had to be withdrawn under pressure from Europe, of course, from European institutions and not only, because I think these pressures could have been much broader and caused problems - he went on to say. - Besides, they later withdrew from a far less radical reform - he added.
