It is not common knowledge that in the first days of the Warsaw Uprising, Germans began the extermination of the capital's population

- We talk about the fights, of course, we all know that soldiers of the Home Army fought, among them, of course, also scouts of the Grey Ranks, that they were supported by the population of the capital, that it was youth. We know that there were bombings, that people died in the fighting, we know that the civilian population of Warsaw also suffered - said President Andrzej Duda during the commemoration ceremony for the victims of the Wola massacre. - This is such common knowledge. However, it is not common knowledge that in the first days of the Warsaw Uprising, the Germans actually began the extermination of the capital's population. That the order given then by Adolf Hitler, which was carried out by Heinrich Himmler and his subordinate officers, was simply to murder the inhabitants of Warsaw, a criminal action which began here, in Warsaw's Wola - he continued.
