Żurek on the Rule of Law Act:

One of the First Decisions Was to Withdraw the Request from the Venice Commission.

- One of the first decisions was to withdraw the request from the Venice Commission, the so-called rule of law act, because I want to change the style of work on these acts concerning the restoration of the rule of law. We are already familiar with the opinions of the Venice Commission and this dialogue is ongoing. The projects that were in the final phase of preparation take into account a number of expectations from international bodies, including the Venice Commission - said Waldemar Żurek at a press conference. - But we are sitting down to work on the most important project for restoring the rule of law immediately. I have already had a meeting with representatives of the Codification Commission and the Legislative Department, which is the most important in the ministry when it comes to preparations for this reform, i.e., attempts to resolve the crisis in the judiciary - he continued. - For now, we are asking the commission, we are withdrawing the request, we will determine what happens next, what the final project will be, and I also don't want us to wait too long for it. So, this will probably be the first project we will focus on very intensively - he added.
