– Germany started it, in terms of effectively liquidating the Schengen zone on our border. We are strong proponents of the Schengen zone in Europe and want it to function, however, we have not taken actions related to closing our western border from our side, primarily because it would further complicate life for people who work on the other side, for example – said Szymon Hołownia at a press conference.

– We treat this as a last resort. Our task is, of course, to increase the number of checks, because that is necessary, but also to exert pressure on Germany, which we are doing as a government, as a coalition – he continued.
