Petru on the Development Minister's New Housing Program:

A Compromise Formula in the 0% Loan Discussion.

– Any subsidies cause some sort of increase in real estate prices. Nevertheless, we have a situation where interest rates are very high, making it impossible for many middle-income Poles to afford a loan today – said Ryszard Petru in “Gość Radia ZET,” when asked about the new housing program “Klucz do mieszkania” (Key to an Apartment) presented by the Minister of Development, Krzysztof Paszyk.

– This causes Poles to feel that, despite working hard, they cannot even dream of getting a loan. And this is a kind of bypass, as long as interest rates remain at the current high level – he indicated.

As he noted: – This is not a systemic solution that will suddenly enable Poles to buy their dream apartment. Nevertheless, it is a kind of compromise formula amidst the entire discussion about the 0% loan. The goal was to avoid artificially inflating prices in the primary, developer market.

– It is important that this is for people buying an apartment for the first time, and there are certain income limits on the secondary market… – he added.
