Kamiński:

I am shocked that the Poczobut case, initiated by our government, suddenly disappeared from the negotiation table

- I wasn't surprised by the exchange issue itself, although of course I didn't know the exact timing of its execution. A year and a half ago, when I was still the coordinator of special services, I discussed this with the Americans. They had then started negotiations with the Russians, but they also turned to their partners, their allies, asking them to join this initiative. They asked: do you have any of your spies, agents, who are of great interest to the Russians, who are in prison and facing a severe sentence? - Mariusz Kamiński said on TV Republika. - I told the Americans from the very beginning: listen, you have your priorities, which is getting your citizens out of Russian prisons. We have a very valuable agent for the Russians, but we also have our priorities. One of these priorities is Andrzej Poczobut. [...] It is our duty, as a state, to take advantage of this situation. Together we are strong - he continued. - I am shocked, embarrassed, that the case of Andrzej Poczobut, which we initiated, our government initiated, which we put forward for negotiations, has suddenly disappeared from the table. It was real. The Americans weren't hesitant at all about Poland pointing out some of their prisoners whom they wanted to get back, to be released. No, for them it was natural - he added.
