Kosiniak-Kamysz:

We Spend Over 4% of GDP on the Army, Surpassing the US Proportionally

- Firstly, the highest budget in the history of the Republic for the army, for modernization, over 3% of budgetary funds, together with the budget of the Armed Forces Support Fund, this amounts to over 4%. This is first place in NATO among all member states; we are ahead of the United States in this percentage of GDP for modernization and armaments. Almost 50% of these expenditures are for transformation, as we are moving from the stage of modernization to transformation. Transformation is not just about replacing equipment, but about strengthening capabilities. The size of the army is very important, but operational capabilities, which we are enhancing, and combat readiness, readiness here and now, not just in 2035, are even more crucial. Many purchases made over the last few years, under our previous governments, under the governments of our predecessors, or purchases being made now, the effects of these purchases will be seen in a few to a dozen years – said Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz at a press conference. - The slogan "Let's be safe here and now" is the main slogan, which also stems from today's consultations, from today's briefing at the General Staff, and all the actions we are taking this year, the creation of drone forces, the creation of a space component forces, or medical forces – these are actions that strengthen the Polish army and also result from Ukrainian experiences – he continued.
