Today Marks the Beginning of the End for the Neo-KRS. We Call on 15 Illegal Members to Resign

- We are here today outside the headquarters of the neo-KRS. For the last 8 years, this institution has poisoned the Polish justice system with neo-judges, led to a massive conflict with the European Union, and the loss of billions in EU funds. It has also exposed the Polish budget to enormous penalties in the form of compensation - stated Kamila Gasiuk-Pihowicz at a press conference. - Today marks the first session with our participation. [...] We are legally elected representatives of the Sejm and the Senate, in accordance with Article 187 of the Constitution. Let me remind you - the Sejm has the right to elect 4 of its representatives and not a single one more. Therefore, these 15 individuals illegally elected by the Sejm are present here in violation of the Polish Constitution - she continued. - Through the amendment to the act of December 2017, PiS broke all constitutional rules in Poland - the principle of separation of powers, the independence of the judiciary, and judicial impartiality. Consequently, the rights of Polish citizens, enshrined not only in the Constitution but also in the European Convention on Human Rights and the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights, have been violated. All these violations have been confirmed in a series of rulings by both European tribunals and Polish courts - the KO MP added. - From this very spot, we call upon these 15 illegal members to resign. The term of office of these fifteen is not protected by the Constitution in any way, as they were elected in violation of it. We call on the entire Council to cease its activities aimed at conducting competitions for judicial positions. We call on the candidates to withdraw their candidacies. [...] The selection of these individuals will be legally flawed - she emphasized. - Today, in this building, we will be raising awareness and issuing calls, but soon: resolutions, laws, concrete actions by the Minister of Justice. The days of the neo-KRS are numbered. Today marks the beginning of the end for the neo-KRS - she concluded.
