KGHM Polska Miedź Achieves Record Domestic Production in the First Half of the Year

PARTNERSHIP TEXT

Record copper mining production in five years and a record output of silver in concentrate. A nearly 5% increase in the volumetric output for metallic silver and a stable level for electrolytic copper at KGHM Polska Miedź S.A.

- A record, best since 2004, for half-year production of silver in concentrate – 677.4 tonnes. The highest half-year copper production in five years – this is how we work towards the title of a giant, this is how our employees build KGHM's success. The best half-year production result since 2018 is thanks to our crew and effective management. We have a vision and ambitious development plans that we are consistently implementing. Once again, we are proving our strong position among the global industry leaders and building the success of the Polish economy – said Tomasz Zdzikot, President of the Management Board of KGHM Polska Miedź S.A.

RECORD FIRST HALF

Following the publication of preliminary production results for June 2023, the copper giant's production is at record levels. Copper mining production in concentrate amounted to 202.3 thousand tonnes, an increase of nearly 2% compared to the first half of 2022 (198.9 thousand tonnes). Electrolytic copper production is at a similar level to the analogous period in 2022: 295.8 thousand tonnes (1st half of 2023) compared to 296.3 thousand tonnes (1st half of 2022). Silver production in concentrate reached 677.4 tonnes, which is the copper giant's best half-year result for a comparable period since 2004.

Metallic silver production in the first half of 2023 amounted to 699.2 tonnes (+ 31 t compared to the first half of 2022) and was the highest in a comparable period since 2018.

- The highest copper mining production since 2018 and the largest silver mining production in nearly twenty years are the result of the hard work of KGHM's crew and effective management. We extract more ore while ensuring its highest quality. This is how we build the strength of Polish Copper – said Marek Świder, Vice-President of the Management Board for Production at KGHM Polska Miedź S.A.

INDUSTRY LEADER

For years, Polish Copper has been at the forefront of global copper and silver producers. In the World Silver Survey 2023 ranking, KGHM maintained first place in the category of 'world's largest silver mines' and second place in the category of 'largest silver producers'. The company ranks eighth on the list of the world's largest copper producers, developing its operations in line with the principles of sustainable development and international trends. In line with budgetary assumptions, the company plans the highest level of investment and capital expenditures in history this year, while maintaining a stable capital, financial, and operational position. It is consistently implementing its development plan, including the Deposit Access Project, within which the deepest mining excavation in Poland has recently been commissioned: the GG-1 shaft, with a depth of 1348 m.
