Scania, a manufacturer of transport vehicles, has announced a partnership with two Polish electric vehicle charging station networks. This aims to support the company's transition to zero emissions.
During the Impact'22 conference in Poznań, Scania announced a strategic partnership with two Polish companies, Ekoen and Ekoenergetyka. The goal of the partnership is to facilitate the electrification of heavy-duty transport.
As indicated by Ekoen, the cooperation will lead to the creation of the first publicly accessible fast-charging stations for heavy-duty vehicles in Nadarzyn, Choroszcz, and Gliwice. These will be located at Scania's service points, as the company aims to convince its customers to switch to electric vehicles, in line with its strategy to achieve zero emissions.
– The aim of the cooperation is to reduce the carbon footprint in transport and to provide customers with comprehensive solutions for electric heavy-duty vehicles and their charging systems – states the company.
The electrification of heavy-duty transport is very important from the perspective of this sector's emissions. Heavy-duty vehicles constitute 2% of vehicles worldwide but account for as much as 20% of greenhouse gas emissions from transport – stated Maciej Wojeński from Ekoeenergetyka during the press conference.
Transport accounts for 6% of Poland's GDP, and nearly one in three freight transports in Europe is handled by Polish transport companies. We must support this sector in transitioning to zero emissions, especially since the complete transformation of transport will happen faster than we think – added Wojciech Rowiński, General Director of Scania in Poland.
