Hillary Clinton to be a guest at the October edition of Impact '21 in Poznań
Hillary Rodham Clinton is the First Lady of the USA in many respects. The former presidential candidate will be a guest at the Impact '21 event, the autumn edition of which will take place in October in Poznań. Hillary Clinton began her tenure as the first of her kind in the United States already during her student years – she became the first student in the history of Wellesley College to deliver an inaugural address. In 2000, she became the first wife of a US president to win a Senate seat. In 2016, she made history by becoming the first woman nominated as a presidential candidate for the United States. Clinton created a new model for a modern political spouse. She was one of the most active First Ladies in US history. She was twice named among the 100 most influential lawyers in America by the National Law Journal. Hillary Diane Rodham was born on October 26, 1947, in Chicago, Illinois. She was actively involved in politics from her student days at Wellesley College. A graduate of Yale Law School, she built a legal career in both the public and private sectors. She was her husband's closest advisor throughout his political career, culminating in his victory in the 1992 presidential election. As First Lady, she focused on issues concerning children and healthcare. In 2000, she won a seat in the US Senate. In 2008, she was a presidential candidate, and in 2009, Hillary Clinton was appointed US Secretary of State by President Barack Obama. In 2016, she ran for president again. Hillary Clinton became the first partner at Rose Firm and co-founder of Advocates for Children and Families of Arkansas. In 1978, she was appointed chair of the Rural Health Advisory Committee and the Arkansas Educational Standards Committee. She also joined the boards of the Arkansas Children's Hospital, Children's Defense Fund, TCBY, and Wal-Mart. During her tenure as First Lady and Senator, as the first presidential wife, Hillary took leadership of the Health Care Reform Task Force at the beginning of the Clinton administration. Hillary made significant efforts to establish the Children's Health Insurance Program and the Adoption and Safe Families Act. And she succeeded. Clinton also participated in raising $21 billion for the construction of the World Trade Center in the aftermath of the September 11th terrorist attacks. She was a member of several Senate committees, including Armed Services, Environment and Public Works. She first announced her candidacy for president in January 2007. Her opponent was then-Senator from Illinois, Barack Obama. After a very close primary result, she suspended her campaign in June 2008 and endorsed Obama. Shortly thereafter, Clinton became Barack Obama's Secretary of State, becoming the third woman to hold the position of Secretary of State in US history. As Secretary of State, Hillary strove to make women's rights and human rights a central theme of her tenure. Hillary announced her candidacy for president in April 2015. In August 2016, she defeated Senator from Vermont, Bernie Sanders, and became the first woman in US history to be nominated as the presidential candidate for the Democratic Party. She lost the election to Donald J. Trump, despite winning almost 3 million more votes than him. Clinton is also the author of many publications.
