Impact People: Felipe Villela – A Nature Enthusiast with a Plan to Produce Food Without Harming the Environment
Felipe Villela is a nature enthusiast and the founder of the reNature organization. He has set himself the goal of proving that caring for nature and business can go hand in hand. His innovative idea of regenerative agriculture, which does not harm biodiversity while generating profits, has led him to be listed on Forbes Under 30. Villela will also be among the speakers at the spring Impact’21 conference. The concept of regenerative agroforestry models came to Felipe Villela, a Brazilian currently living in the Kingdom of the Netherlands, when he saw firsthand the difference between the Amazon rainforest and monoculture agricultural plantations. His idea of regenerative agroforestry aims to absorb carbon dioxide and reverse the negative effects of climate change, while simultaneously creating more economically viable livelihoods for farmers. He believes that agriculture does not have to contribute to soil depletion, the drying out of agricultural lands, and the disappearance of species diversity. According to Villela, regenerative agroforestry aims to change the food production model. He wants to move away from monoculture farming, which he believes has deep roots in slavery, human rights abuses, and environmental degradation. In its place, he proposes multi-species systems where many different types of plants and trees are cultivated individually. “$44 trillion in economic value generated – more than half of the total global GDP – is potentially at risk due to business’s dependence on nature and its services,” Villela told Forbes. “Modern agriculture undermines its own foundations. It undermines nature’s healthy and self-sufficient capabilities, causing environmental damage to soils, biodiversity, water, and climate – while agriculture depends on nature,” he added. reNature, founded by Villela, aims to inspire global enterprises and industries to transform agriculture. His ambition is to prove that we can feed 16 billion people instead of 9 billion by 2050 using regenerative agroforestry systems. Villela believes we live on an abundant planet with opportunities for all young future regeneration leaders. reNature creates a network of farmers, corporations, and investors who focus on the long-term benefits of regenerative agroforestry. It utilizes scientific knowledge that companies can apply to change their supply chains and test them on a small scale first. What can we expect on the Impact’21 May stage? Since its inception, Impact has organized events that have been a phenomenon in the Polish conference market. The traditional format of long panel debates has been replaced by short, dynamic presentations. Impact has also changed its approach to the round table format. At Impact, these sessions are shorter than usual, and very specific topics are discussed in a small, closed group. The Impact team also focuses on popular international speakers and constantly seeks new technological inspirations.

Impact People: Gavin Littlejohn – Champion of Open Banking
Open banking, or managing finances without borders – this is a trend that, thanks to the digitalization of the banking sector, is gaining momentum and from which there is no escape. It would be unwise to underestimate this field, so if you don't want to be left at the starting line in the ongoing technological race, you must get to know Gavin Littlejohn, one of the speakers at the spring edition of Impact’21. Gavin is a born "fintechie" who has been developing innovative financial management solutions for many years and knows how to succeed in building a business from scratch. As he himself says, "being an entrepreneur means adapting to change and seizing opportunities." Our hero's sporting past – he has had spells in boxing and rugby – has instilled in him the qualities necessary for business success: determination, consistency, perseverance, and resilience to mounting adversities. An example of his managerial abilities is Money Dashboard, one of the largest financial management service providers in the UK today, which was founded by Littlejohn himself, who served as its president until 2015. Currently, as CEO of the Financial Data and Technology Association, Littlejohn leads the movement to promote open banking and foster common technical standards and consistent accountability models in the financial sector. According to Littlejohn, open finance is "the biggest and most important innovation in the financial services sector since the dawn of the internet." Gavin Littlejohn also sits on the UK's Open Banking steering committee. As he admits, the entire banking environment requires that digitally offered financial products and services are sold in accordance with regulations. He added that open banking and open finance represent a huge opportunity for banks, which will be able to offer customers better service thanks to these solutions. – Currently – from the customers' perspective – they suffer from relatively limited access to financial advice. Any applications that help customers solve their problems are only as smart as the data you put into them – so open banking allows the customer to see a true picture of their financial "self" – Littlejohn explained. Open banking is one of the leading topics that will be featured on the Impact’21 stage in May. Gavin Littlejohn will be speaking there on May 12th! What can we expect on the Impact’21 May stage?
