It's not easy to create something that seemingly excludes itself; natural landscapes and geometric structures are not a common direction in painting, as their spectacular combination requires talent, artistic vision, and uncompromisingness. These qualities are infused into the work of Łukasz Patelczyk, one of the speakers at the spring Impact’21 conference.
Łukasz Patelczyk is a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk. In his painting, he combines two orders: classical landscape and geometric abstraction. In practice, this means he overlays geometric contours onto, for example, mountain landscapes. And he does it in such a way that the initial contrast fully gives way to harmony.
Patelczyk's work causes what theoretically should not coexist to become an obvious unity after a moment of observation.
It is not without reason that Polish and foreign collectors and art critics appreciate his imagination, consistency, and high-class craftsmanship.
Art Focused on Nature
Patelczyk is considered one of the most promising artists of the young generation, and his landscapes depart from classical depictions of scenery. He creates his own illusory vision of nature. Nature that has been marked by humanity.
As he admits himself, geometric figures, or sometimes just dots or lines, are a certain symbol of humanity's trace – a subjective testament to human presence and intervention in nature.
"He masterfully combines figurative art with abstraction. His landscapes with refined colors and original compositions are an innovative approach to the age-old motif of nature," PAP
writes about him.
Currently, Patelczyk is working on another original series, "Glass," in which he applies translucent "glasses" that change the color of a traditionally painted landscape. His past achievements build anticipation, especially among aspiring painters.
Award-Winning Artist
Patelczyk has many successes to his name – he won first place in the Kompas Młodej Sztuki (Compass of Young Art) 2020, is a laureate of the Bielsko Autumn Painting Biennale 2015, and a laureate of the Artistic Journey of Hestia 2011 competition.
His work is also gaining recognition outside of Poland – at the beginning of the year, Łukasz Patelczyk's paintings were presented by the New York gallery Green Point Projects at the Volta Show 2020 Art Fair in New York.
A planned exhibition at Slag Gallery in Manhattan for spring 2020 has been postponed to 2021, meaning the world will have the opportunity to see the painter's works this year as well.
And you, dear readers, will get to know our featured personality in May – Łukasz Patelczyk will take the stage at the spring edition of Impact’21.
What can we expect on the Impact’21 stage in May?
Since its inception, the Impact Foundation has organized events that are a phenomenon on the Polish conference market: the traditional format of long panel debates has been replaced by short, dynamic presentations. Impact has also changed its approach to round tables, which at Impact are shorter than usual, and during which very specific topics are discussed within a small, closed group. The Impact team also focuses on popular international speakers and constantly seeks new technological inspirations.
