Szczerski Questions Political Metamorphosis and Defense of Controversial Figure
- I am not a lawyer, so I will not comment on procedural matters. We need to discuss several political aspects of this situation: firstly, we are all interested in what mechanism led to the situation where the leader of the only anti-European party in Poland, a man who called for a vote against Poland joining the EU, the head of an association described by mainstream media as fascist, after a few years becomes the main defender of the President of the European Council, his son, businessmen, and is at the center of the so-called Warsaw social elite. What is this mechanism that causes everyone else with such a past to be labeled fascists by the mainstream? And how does this person, with such a political background, somehow transform into their opposite, and the mainstream media defends him? Secondly, we are dealing with a crime of corruption prosecuted worldwide, and in Poland's case, a mechanism of political defense is activated, and traditional denouncements abroad begin, claiming it is a political process, a witch hunt against a person who is now part of the opposition. This is a path to paralyzing state services, and perhaps that was the intention. And after all, the Central Anticorruption Bureau, alongside the Institute of National Remembrance, are institutions that today's opposition wants to liquidate immediately upon taking power. These are two institutions: the truth about history and the truth about financial misdeeds, which hinder today's opposition. This needs to be proven, courts will operate, but an attempt to provoke an international scandal has already begun. And a third point – the scandalous beating of a journalist. I wouldn't want us to see scenes like Vego live, and here it might be that the son of a prominent person beats a photojournalist and then it turns out he is safe enough for his surroundings to be released from custody - said Krzysztof Szczerski in Woronicza 17.

Urbaniak:

We Stand in Defense of Every Person Falsely Accused, Politically Accused, and for Five Years This is What the CBA Has Been Doing, What the Prosecutor's Office Led by Zbigniew Ziobro Has Been Doing
"We stand in defense of every person who is falsely accused, who is politically accused, and for five years this is what the Central Anticorruption Bureau (CBA) has been doing, what the prosecutor's office led by Zbigniew Ziobro has been doing – political trials, bringing charges that are untrue. After all, these are the stories of all political trials. It's not about Roman Giertych, it's about him being falsely accused," said Jarosław Urbaniak, a Civic Platform (PO) MP, at Woronicza 17.

Szczerski:

Linking payouts to conditions must be treaty-based. They are trying to sacrifice the entire European construct to get rid of two governments in Europe.
- The European budget is not a privilege for Poland or a donation. All member states contribute to it. It is a fundamental part of EU membership: contributions and payouts from the budget. This is derived from the treaties. Anything that conditions payouts must be derived from the treaties. Pacta sunt servanda. We joined the EU based on treaties, we jointly shaped the Lisbon Treaty, and only what is written in the treaties has the right to be enforced; any departure from the treaties is unlawful. And we must defend this rule of law against some EU member states. They are trying to sacrifice the entire European construct to get rid of two governments in Europe - said Krzysztof Szczerski at Woronicza 17.

Dziemianowicz-Bąk:

This is Not a Pandemic Strategy, but Coloring Poland in Different Hues. The Left Offers Cooperation, Let Yourselves Be Helped and Take Advantage of What We Put on the Table
- This is not a strategy for fighting the pandemic, but rather coloring Poland in different hues, which shows how unprepared Poland is for this wave of the pandemic and how much the government has wasted the summer months. The Left offers cooperation; let yourselves be helped and take advantage of what we are putting on the table: a law on mandatory mask-wearing and providing the option to refuse service. The government has failed to prepare a legal basis for enforcement for many months. We warned that opening schools would increase the second wave. We appeal: let's have a school break, two weeks of additional holidays, during which schools will prepare for hybrid learning, because we cannot afford to close schools for many months - said Agnieszka Dziemianowicz-Bąk in Śniadanie Polsat News.

Kamiński:

To role of the opposition to criticize, but the colossal personal incompetence of PiS people overshadows everything.
- There are aspects independent of the government, the medical aspect of fighting the virus itself. Even the most powerful governments in the world have limited capacity to act here. There is also a political aspect. Like any such matter, we can discuss that some decisions were good, but also some were bad or not made. But to be fair to this government, it is the role of the opposition to criticize, yet the colossal personal incompetence of PiS people overshadows all of this. If this incompetence and irresponsibility flows from the very top and people believed what the Prime Minister said, who, incidentally, has been judicially declared a liar, that the coronavirus is no longer a problem and behaved accordingly to those words. Yet, regardless of the government's actions, there are obvious truths that the cause of the virus's spread is human contact. There is no "I apologize" for Mateusz Morawiecki's words, that's not the way to go - said Michał Kamiński in "Śniadanie Polsat News".

Kierwiński:

PiS and Jarosław Kaczyński Rule, and You Bear Full Responsibility for the Pandemic's Spread. I Get the Impression the Prime Minister Always Just Found Out What to Say; There's No Single Thought-Out Plan.
- PiS and Jarosław Kaczyński rule, and you bear full responsibility for the spread of the pandemic. Your omissions led to this. For many weeks, we have consistently said that the fundamental issue is identifying sick individuals, we've been calling for more tests, and this number of tests is insufficient. Slovakia intends to test all its citizens, while we test those who have a total of four symptoms, even though virologists say only 3% of all those who have fallen ill have all these symptoms. We are talking about greater funding for the State Sanitary Inspectorate (Sanepid), yet these people are deprived of basic equipment. Less funding for the Chancellery of the Prime Minister (KPRM) and the Institute of National Remembrance (IPN) – nothing will happen for a year if they receive less. Large numbers arise from small numbers. Above all, one must have a coherent strategy. I have the impression that the Prime Minister always just found out what to say; there is no single thought-out plan. These actions are insufficient and illogical - said Marcin Kierwiński during "Śniadanie Polsat News" (Breakfast at Polsat News).

Spychalski to Kierwiński: Show some humility, your party dismantled Sanepid labs
"- If MP Kierwiński talks about equipping Sanepid while being a member of PO, which was liquidating Sanepids, then show some humility. It was you who were dismantling Sanepid laboratories, and today you are appealing. I remember when Grzegorz Schetyna said a dozen or so years ago that you wouldn't take subsidies, so maybe you should transfer the subsidy to fight the coronavirus since large numbers come from small numbers. The whole world is fighting the epidemic and colliding with it. These actions are not detached from reality. I appeal for PO to cooperate and present proposals, so that you support all of us instead of just making political noise," said Błażej Spychalski during an interview on Polsat News's 'Śniadanie'.

The President will make changes in the Council of Ministers tomorrow morning before departing for Tallinn, and MP Czarnek will be appointed to the government tomorrow
"The President will make changes in the Council of Ministers tomorrow morning before departing for Tallinn, and MP Czarnek will be appointed to the government tomorrow. Due to restrictions, there will be a maximum of 10 people in the room, including staff. We will produce and provide a video feed to the media. Full sanitary regime - said Błażej Spychalski in the "Śniadanie" program on Polsat News.

Kierwiński:

The President Fled the Pandemic. He Gladly Posed with Doctors During the Campaign, Opened Liquid Production Lines, and Now, When It's Time to Fight the Pandemic, He's Afraid to Speak Up
- The President has fled the pandemic. During the campaign, he gladly posed with doctors, opened liquid production lines, and now, when it's time to fight the pandemic, he's afraid to speak up. He only speaks on trivial matters - said Marcin Kierwiński on Polsat News Breakfast.

Kamiński:

People cry over loved ones who fell ill after listening to the PM, while PiS blames Tusk. This is where people draw their own conclusions. What about the Senate's initiative, stalled in the Sejm since winter? That's the test of willingness to coo
- From a pure PR perspective, when people are crying over their loved ones who fell ill after listening to Prime Minister Morawiecki say the virus isn't a problem, wiping their tears, while PiS blames Tusk, people draw their own conclusions. What about the Senate's initiative, which hasn't reached the Sejm's agenda since winter? That's the test of willingness to cooperate - said Michał Kamiński on Polsat News's Breakfast program.

Dziemianowicz-Bąk:

School is Not a Cloakroom for Children to Be Left in to Avoid Problems. We Need Autumn Holidays to Prepare a Mixed System. Younger Children in Grades 1-4 in a Stationary System.
- School is not a cloakroom for children where they are left to avoid problems. Children are supposed to learn, develop, and socialize there. They must be safe there, and teachers must be safe there. We need autumn holidays that will allow for the preparation of a mixed system. Younger children in grades 1-4 in a stationary system. Older children in remote or rotational learning, because they can take care of themselves when they are at home. Schools will collapse soon because there will be no one to work there – said Agnieszka Dziemianowicz-Bąk in the "Śniadanie Polsat News" program.

Kierwiński:

We Lag Behind Other Countries in Testing, as it's PiS's Way to Understate Statistics. We've Been Saying for Months: Trace and Isolate the Sick
"We lag behind other countries in testing because it's PiS's way to understate the statistics. We've been saying for months: trace and isolate the sick. For six months, you've known best, and we see the consequences. You're not even testing in obvious cases of contact with an infected person. Around the civilized world, the percentage of infected among those tested is 4-5%; here, it's 20. Last weekend, Italy conducted 170,000 tests, and you did 40,000. You're not testing because it's your method of not showing the true scale of the pandemic," said Marcin Kierwiński on Polsat News's "Śniadanie" (Breakfast).

Spychalski:

Borys Budka said that in the opinion of experts within the Platform's circles, the pandemic would end in the autumn, allowing for safe elections.
"Borys Budka said that in the opinion of experts within the Platform's circles, the pandemic would end in the autumn, allowing for the safe conduct of presidential elections. It's not difficult to find this in an interview he once gave to Polsat News," said Błażej Spychalski on Polsat News's "Śniadanie Polsat News."

Orlen's company producing disinfectants was prepared for sale under the PO government. We wouldn't have such a rapid liquid production line in Poland today.
- Orlen's company, which today produces disinfectants, was being prepared for sale during the PO government's tenure. We wouldn't have such a rapid liquid production line in Poland today, - said Błażej Spychalski on Polsat News's "Śniadanie" (Breakfast).

Political Week Ahead: PM's Address on COVID-19 at Extra Parliamentary Session, Czarnek's Appointment, Constitutional Tribunal on Ombudsman and Eugenics Abortion, President's Trip to Three Seas Summit, and Signing of Medical Fund Act

The upcoming week in politics will primarily feature an extraordinary session of the Sejm (Polish Parliament) and a briefing from the Prime Minister regarding the state's preparedness for a growing wave of coronavirus infections, as well as the appointment of Przemysław Czarnek to the government, and Constitutional Tribunal hearings on the Ombudsman, eugenics abortion, and a ruling on the de-securitization act.

Czarnek's Appointment. - The President will make changes to the Council of Ministers on Monday morning, before departing for Tallinn, and MP Czarnek will be appointed to the government. Due to restrictions, there will be a maximum of 10 people in the room, including staff. We will produce and provide video feed to the media. Full sanitary regime - said Błażej Spychalski in Śniadanie Polsat News.

President Duda at the Three Seas Summit in Tallinn. Also on Monday, President Andrzej Duda will participate in the aforementioned Three Seas Initiative Summit, which will take place in Tallinn, Estonia.

Extraordinary Sejm Session. On Tuesday at 10:00 AM, the Sejm will convene for an extraordinary session. The agenda will primarily include the Prime Minister's briefing on the state's preparedness for the growing wave of SARS-CoV-2 infections and the resulting COVID-19 disease, as well as the influenza virus during the coronavirus pandemic, and the appointment of the Ombudsman. It is possible that MPs will also consider a motion from the Left party to express a vote of no confidence in the Minister of National Education, Dariusz Piontkowski.

Signing of the Medical Fund Act. According to 300POLITYKA information, a ceremonial signing of the Medical Fund Act is planned for Tuesday. This is a presidential proposal that Andrzej Duda announced during the election campaign.

Constitutional Tribunal on the De-securitization Act. On Tuesday at 11:00 AM, the Constitutional Tribunal will announce its ruling on the de-securitization act, which stipulates a reduction in pensions and annuities for former functionaries of the PRL (Polish People's Republic) services. The adjudicating panel of the Constitutional Tribunal consists of: Presiding Judge - President of the Constitutional Tribunal Julia Przyłębska, First Rapporteur - Judge of the Constitutional Tribunal Justyn Piskorski, Second Rapporteur - Judge of the Constitutional Tribunal Jakub Stelina.

Constitutional Tribunal on the Ombudsman. On Tuesday at 1:00 PM, the Constitutional Tribunal – at the request of PiS MPs – will consider the act on the Ombudsman. In practice, this concerns examining the constitutionality of the current situation, where Adam Bodnar continues to serve as Ombudsman despite the end of his term, because the parliament has not elected his successor.

President Duda's Consultations on the "Five for Animals" Bill. As we hear, a continuation of presidential consultations on the amendment to the Animal Protection Act, known as the "Five for Animals" bill, is planned for Thursday.

Constitutional Tribunal on so-called Eugenics Abortion. On Thursday at 11:00 AM, a Constitutional Tribunal hearing will take place regarding "family planning, protection of the human fetus, and conditions for the admissibility of abortion." In practice, this concerns the issue of so-called eugenics abortion. The request was submitted to the Tribunal at the end of the year by a group of MPs. The Constitutional Tribunal will consider the case with its full composition. The presiding judge will be the President of the Constitutional Tribunal Julia Przyłębska, and the rapporteur will be Judge of the Constitutional Tribunal Justyn Piskorski.
