Tuesday's Political Agenda: PM with Opposition and Mayors, Senate on the Animal Welfare Five, Government Session, Final Day of President Duda's Visit to Ukraine

At 8:30 AM, a meeting will take place between Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and city mayors, followed at 9:30 AM by a videoconference with EU Council President Charles Michel. Subsequently, after 2:00 PM, a meeting between the Prime Minister and the opposition will be held, also via videoconference.

At 9:00 AM, the Senate will resume its proceedings. The upper house will address the so-called "Animal Welfare Five" legislation. A farmers' protest is also scheduled to take place in Warsaw today.

At 11:30 AM, a government session will commence. The agenda includes a draft amendment to the Code of Administrative Procedure, as well as a draft regulation concerning air traffic restrictions, and traditionally, current affairs.

Tuesday also marks the final day of President Andrzej Duda's visit to Ukraine. The agenda includes economic matters, with this part of the visit taking place in Kyiv and Odesa. Two economic agreements will be signed in the presence of Andrzej Duda.

Sobolewski on the Animal Protection Act: Most demands from agricultural communities have been met. I hope this will be positively received in the Senate.

- We are awaiting decisions at the Senate's plenary session. On our part, listening to the voices of farmers, we have naturally submitted amendments concerning compensation, the extension of the vacatio legis period, or the exclusion of the ban on ritual slaughter and poultry slaughter. Therefore, by partially listening to the farmers' voices, we want this act to be, quite frankly, accepted in the Senate to the extent our amendments indicate. However, we are waiting to see how it unfolds. Yesterday, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and Minister of Agriculture Grzegorz Puda also announced the establishment of the State Animal Protection Inspectorate. Thus, most of the demands expressed by agricultural communities have been met on our part. I hope this will be positively received in the Senate. If not, we will continue to consider what actions to take - said Krzysztof Sobolewski in an interview with Dorota Kania on Polskie Radio 24.

Rzepecki:

I Have Political Experience. At 18 I Became a Councilor in Ozorków, Then Worked Alongside Mastalerz. I Thank Marcin Sincerely for That. For the Last Four Years, I Was a Member of Parliament.

- I am 28 years old, that's true. However, I do have political experience. At the age of 18, I became a councilor for the city of Ozorków, and then I worked alongside Marcin Mastalerz, serving as the director of his parliamentary office. So, I thank Marcin sincerely for that. And for the last four years, I have been a Member of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland. I worked very hard - said Łukasz Rzepecki in an interview with Marcin Fijołek on Polsat News' "Graffiti".

08:17

Gliński:

We Don't Want a Lockdown. Its Costs Far Exceed the Benefits. The Consequences of a Lockdown Will Prevent Us from Investing in Healthcare

We don't want a lockdown. We have some experience. That lockdown at the beginning of the epidemic was necessary for two reasons. Firstly, we didn't know the threat at all. At this moment, we recognize this threat a bit better. Secondly, the costs of such a lockdown are significantly greater than the benefits. The consequences of a lockdown will prevent us from investing in healthcare” – said Deputy Prime Minister Piotr Gliński in an interview with Robert Mazurek on RMF FM.

08:20

Gliński:

State-Owned Companies Should Buy Media Where Possible; Not Destructive to the Market. Currently, There's a Huge Advantage for Media Not Controlled by Government-Linked Capital.

It is not a normal situation for virtually all local press to be in the hands of one corporation, and a German corporation at that, in Poland. This is not a situation consistent with European standards, because the media market is particularly sensitive due to its influence on the functioning of democracy. Therefore, in Poland, we must change this situation. Where it will be possible, state-owned companies should most likely buy media, but I don't think it will be destructive to the media market, creating a monopoly for the other side. At present, there is a huge advantage for media that are not in the hands of capital linked to the Polish government” - said Deputy Prime Minister Piotr Gliński on RMF FM.

08:22

Rzepecki:

President Duda mentioned wanting to introduce changes in the first year of his second term. We hear that the institution of peace judges is very important.

- These are the plans. President Andrzej Duda mentioned that he would like to introduce such changes in the first year of his second term. We hear that the institution of peace judges is very important, very necessary, to speed up the protracted nature of the smallest cases - said Łukasz Rzepecki in Polsat News.

- We also care that there is as broad an agreement as possible on the institution of peace judges, so that no one objects - he added.

08:28

Rzepecki Asked About Statement That Kaczyński "Should Leave": "I Wouldn't Say Those Words Today. I'm Glad the President Joined the Government, Became Deputy Prime Minister. It's Solely for the Good of Our Country"
"I wouldn't say those words today. I serve as an advisor to President Andrzej Duda. President Andrzej Duda has said many times that he is very pleased that President Jarosław Kaczyński is joining the government and becoming Deputy Prime Minister, that it will be more transparent and clear. And I say, just as President Andrzej Duda says, I am also glad that President Jarosław Kaczyński has joined the government and become Deputy Prime Minister. It is solely for the good of our country and it is a huge strengthening of the government" – Łukasz Rzepecki said on Polsat News.

Sasin Before Prime Minister's Meeting with Club and Circle Leaders: It Would Be Good If Consensus Could Be Reached on This Matter. It's Not a Topic That Should Be Subject to Political Struggle
It would be good if consensus could be reached on this matter, when it comes to the actions that need to be taken. It's not a topic that should be subject to political struggle, to the dispute which is very sharp in our country. The latest statements by opposition politicians fit the model of discussing all matters in our country, which is criticizing the government's actions,” said Deputy Prime Minister Jacek Sasin on Radio Jedynka.

08:31

Sasin:

We Currently Have Enough Beds, Ventilators, and Medical Supplies to Combat the Pandemic

The point is not to spread false information, not to cause additional anxiety and panic, as this is unnecessary and does not serve the effectiveness of fighting the pandemic. I believe the Prime Minister will want to discuss this with the opposition leaders, to convince them not to disseminate false information. We currently have an adequate number of beds, ventilators, and we have secured the medical supplies necessary to combat the pandemic. This is a completely different situation than it was in the spring, and in no way can it be said that this time was wasted” - said Deputy Prime Minister Jacek Sasin on Jedynka radio.

08:36

Müller:

At this moment, we don't see the need to introduce a state of emergency

- I have no information about such decisions [regarding a state of emergency]. Therefore, at this moment, I can say that it is not a subject of either the RZZK (Government Security Council) or Council of Ministers deliberations. Let's consider that states of emergency in Poland are regulated slightly differently than in some EU countries that have already introduced them. In Poland, we have a separate law concerning the fight against the epidemic, and within it, there are two states: the pre-epidemic state, meaning a state of epidemic threat, and the epidemic state, which we currently have declared and which is ongoing. And there are legal instruments within that law that are written down and allow for an appropriate response. Therefore, at this moment, we do not see the need to introduce a state of emergency - stated Piotr Müller in an interview with Krzysztof Ziemiec on TVP1's "Political Quarter of an Hour".

08:48

Müller on the Prime Minister's meeting with the opposition: I hope we will discuss constructively

- Despite everything, I hope that it will be constructive criticism, because the issues you mentioned can be very quickly addressed. That is, the small number of doctors is unfortunately one of the things we inherited from our predecessors. Let's remember that doctors are trained for several years. One of the first decisions we made as the United Right government was to increase, for example, the admission limits for medical studies. As for ventilators, the situation is currently good and there is no threat of a shortage of ventilators. However, when it comes to the general functioning of services, we are of course open to constructive criticism and we draw conclusions from it. I hope that we will discuss in such a constructive way today - stated Piotr Müller in an interview with Krzysztof Ziemiec in TVP1's "Political Quarter Hour".

08:58

Müller on Czarnek's Swearing-In: The Realistic Date is Next Week. This Week it Will Likely Be Impossible

- First and foremost, we are awaiting the end of his [Przemysław Czarnek's] illness. I hope it will be as soon as possible. I think the realistic date for [the swearing-in as minister] is next week. This week it will likely be impossible – stated Piotr Müller in an interview with Krzysztof Ziemiec on TVP1's "Political Quarter Hour".

- Probably also due to the President's schedule; he is still in Ukraine, I believe, so I bet it will rather be next week. Especially since there is also the European Council session in Brussels on Thursday and Friday – added the government spokesman.

09:13

Libicki on the Senate Situation: It's More Than a Scratch, It's Definitely a Crack

- You demanded a clear declaration in my previous statement, so I am stating clearly: yes, it is more than a scratch, it is definitely a crack, and we will now, so to speak, observe in all the votes that lie ahead. Our votes will certainly be influenced by the behavior of our colleagues from the Senate majority in the legislative committee yesterday; I will not hide this, and as for what votes lie ahead, I do not know - stated Jan Filip Libicki in an interview with Michał Rachoń on the program “Jedziemy” on TVP Info.

09:13

Libicki:

We don't intend to file a motion to dismiss Marshal Grodzki, but if one were submitted, we would scrutinize it. I cannot say what the decision will be now, but it will be linked to the behavior of our coalition partners.

- We do not intend to file a motion to dismiss Marshal Grodzki, but if such a motion were submitted by Civic Coalition senators, I don't know if it will be submitted, but if it were, we would certainly scrutinize it carefully. Undoubtedly, we will look closely at such a motion, as we would any motion. I cannot say what the decision will be at this moment, but it will certainly be linked to the behavior of our coalition partners in this vote - stated Jan Filip Libicki in an interview with Michał Rachoń on the TVP Info program "Jedziemy".

09:56

Jackowski on the Animal Protection Act: In the form it came from the Sejm, I absolutely cannot imagine supporting it. What's more, no one in PiS probably imagines supporting it anymore, since such a brilliant law had to be changed.

- It depends on what the amendments will be. However, in the form in which this act came from the Sejm, I absolutely cannot imagine supporting it. What's more, no one in PiS probably imagines supporting it anymore, since such a brilliant law from the Sejm had to be changed, and not so long ago it was brilliant and whoever voted against it was punished - said Jan Maria Jackowski in an interview with Jacek Prusinowski on Radio Plus's "Sedno sprawy".

10:09

Jackowski on the Animal Protection Act: "Amendments, in my deep conviction, can add fuel to the fire." Regarding compensation, nothing has been decided, apart from the provision that it should be provided.
  • These amendments, in my deep conviction, can add fuel to the fire, because, you know: when it comes to compensation, nothing has been decided, apart from the provision that it should be provided. You know, there's a saying in Warsaw: 'it has' versus 'it should have'. That's a very big difference. Does someone have PLN 100 or should they have PLN 100 tomorrow? - said Jan Maria Jackowski on Radio Plus.
  • Secondly, it is not known from what funds, how it is to be calculated, or whether it will also take into account lost profits - he continued.
  • One can say that poultry producers are a very strong unit in Polish agriculture, because it involves huge sums of money, and Poland is the largest producer of poultry meat in the European Union. On the other hand, those who deal with beef, and the government has encouraged many farmers to liquidate their pig herds due to ASF and to engage in beef production, there are 350,000 farms. Ask yourself the question: will these 350,000 people, whose livelihood and income stability are threatened, be satisfied? Plus their families, that's about a million people - he added.

10:13

Jackowski:

If farmer compensation were assessed fairly, we're talking billions. In the name of what should the state budget, which is in crisis, incur additional costs, instead of leaving things as they are?
In the current budget situation, where we hear about a crisis, about a budget deficit, it suddenly turns out that we are to have billions in the budget, because if this compensation [for farmers] were actually assessed fairly, we are talking about billions on an annual basis. In the name of what should the state budget, which is in crisis, incur additional costs, instead of simply leaving things as they are currently - said Jan Maria Jackowski on Radio Plus.

Terlecki on Penalties for PiS Senators: 'Not Yet Grounds for It. One Can Turn a Blind Eye in Committee. It Will Be Worse During the Vote'

We’ll see [if there will be penalties for PiS senators]. For now, there are no grounds for it. In committee, one can turn a blind eye to it. It will be worse during the vote” – said PiS Deputy Marshal Ryszard Terlecki in a conversation with journalists in the Sejm.

Grodzki on the Animal Protection Act: As Always, the Senate Falls on the Task of Bringing It to a State That Simultaneously Ensures Animal Welfare Without Ruining the Agricultural Sector

Animal welfare and our approach to animals are extremely important, but I must state with regret that animals have become a tool for political struggle, which not only instrumentally exploits them but also attempts to influence the vast agricultural industry – those who feed and defend us. This act is full of errors. It was written hastily, and it passed through the Sejm at lightning speed. The government is clearly retreating from its previous inventions,” said Senate Marshal Tomasz Grodzki.

“As always, the Senate falls on the task of bringing it to a state that simultaneously ensures animal welfare without ruining the agricultural sector and other cooperating branches,” he added.

PM Morawiecki Goes Into Quarantine After COVID-19 Contact; Government Continues Normal Operations

I learned that last Friday I had contact with a person who tested positive for Covid-19. Consequently, and in accordance with sanitary regulations, I am going into quarantine. I am in constant contact with my colleagues. The government is operating normally. The Council of Ministers will take place, as it has for the past few months, via video conference. I wish everyone good health. Let's take care of ourselves and our loved ones. Let's adhere to the rules: disinfection, distance, and masks” – said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki in an online recording.

The government spokesperson also provided information regarding the Prime Minister's work during his quarantine period:

  1. The Prime Minister's quarantine is a consequence of confirming this morning an infection in a person with whom he had contact last Friday, October 9th.

  2. The Prime Minister has not yet been diagnosed with COVID-19. He also has no symptoms of the disease.

  3. Procedures prepared for such a situation have been implemented. During quarantine, Mateusz Morawiecki is performing his duties. The Prime Minister is spending his quarantine in a way that allows him to make decisions and maintain contact with representatives of state institutions.

  4. Thanks to the provision of appropriate technical capabilities, the Prime Minister will chair meetings of the Council of Ministers, the Government Crisis Management Team, and other bodies.

  5. Further procedures related to the Prime Minister's quarantine – including performed tests and the duration of the quarantine – will be decided by a doctor and the State Sanitary Inspectorate.

Zelensky:

Above All, I Urge Polish Businessmen to Widely Participate in Privatization Processes in Ukraine

- Above all, I urge Polish businessmen to widely participate in privatization processes in Ukraine, to invest. Investments from Poland today amount to 800 million dollars - said President Volodymyr Zelensky during a joint visit of the presidents of Poland and Ukraine in Odesa.

- The possibilities of our cooperation, I am convinced of this, we have discussed this with Mr. President Andrzej Duda on numerous occasions, such possibilities are much greater. Improving the investment climate is a priority for me and for my entire team [simultaneous translation by TVP Info] - he added.

12:24

President Duda: No One in the World Predicts This Situation Will Last Longer Than Two Years. We Will Overcome the Coronavirus Pandemic Thanks to a Vaccine.

- When we talk about prospects, especially for a sector as robust and requiring serious investment as logistics, transport, and energy investments, there is no doubt that such a period can be overlooked in this aspect; it is a transitional time. Besides, no one in the world probably predicts that this situation will last longer than two years. That we will overcome the coronavirus pandemic thanks to a vaccine that will be invented, thanks to medicines that are currently being worked on worldwide, and the situation will be able to fully return to normal functioning – said President Andrzej Duda during a joint visit of the presidents of Poland and Ukraine to Odesa.

12:29

Duda:

I am pleased with the memorandum on cooperation between the Port of Gdańsk and Ukrainian port administration, initiating the creation of an intermodal transport corridor.

- I am pleased with the memorandum on cooperation being signed today between the management of the Polish Port of Gdańsk and the administration of Ukrainian ports, which initiates the process of creating a new intermodal transport corridor in the near future. I believe that thanks to the dialogue between Polish and Ukrainian entities in the transport, freight forwarding, and logistics sectors, other joint projects will be developed that will benefit both sides - said President Andrzej Duda during a joint visit of the Presidents of Poland and Ukraine to Odesa.

14:46

Budka:

We are going to a meeting with the Prime Minister with specific demands. PLN 5 billion for the fight against Covid, 100,000 tests daily, 10 million flu vaccines, better access to healthcare, full information about what is happening in Poland
- We are going to this meeting with five specific demands. We are going there to demand concrete solutions from Prime Minister Morawiecki and this government, which aim at a real fight against Covid. We are going there to demand a special fund for the fight against Covid from Prime Minister Morawiecki. At least PLN 5 billion should be allocated for real anti-Covid actions - said Borys Budka during a press conference. - The second very important element is tests. I would like to remind you that from the very beginning, often against all other parties in Poland, we have demanded mass testing of people. - In our opinion, and this is another demand, 100,000 tests per day should be the minimum to guarantee the real separation of sick individuals from healthy ones. - The third very important element is flu vaccines. I would like to remind you that so far approximately one million vaccines have been purchased. This was not done by the government. Private companies and pharmacies did it. And what did the government do? The government requisitioned these vaccines. - We demand that the government, through immediate, interventionary purchases, order and bring 10 million flu vaccines to Poland. - Another element of this five-point plan to save Poland from the effects of the expanding coronavirus epidemic is better access to healthcare. - This administration cannot shift responsibility onto hospital directors. I emphasize once again, access to healthcare, to planned procedures for patients, especially those who are seriously ill with oncological or cardiological conditions, whose procedures are being postponed, this access must be guaranteed. - And finally, full information about what is happening in Poland. From the very beginning, the government has been lying to Poles. From the very beginning, data has been manipulated. From the very beginning, propaganda has been propagated instead of honestly informing about the state of healthcare, the state of the economy, and the state of preparedness of state services. Therefore, we demand that Prime Minister Morawiecki, at a specially convened session of the Polish parliament, at an extraordinary session of the Sejm, conduct a real analysis of the state of healthcare in Poland. We also demand that such data be made available on an ongoing basis - stated the PO chairman.

14:59

Budka:

The Disciplinary Chamber is Not a Court. It's a Group of People Sent to the Supreme Court to Persecute, Denounce, and Dismiss Disobedient Judges

- It should be remembered that the Disciplinary Chamber is not a court within the meaning of European law. It should be remembered that the activities of individuals pretending to be judges there are illegal. It should be remembered that such actions expose Poland to the necessity of potentially paying fines imposed by European Union bodies. This chamber is not a court. It is a group of people who have been sent to the Supreme Court to persecute, denounce, and dismiss disobedient judges - said Borys Budka during a press conference.

15:02

Budka:

I Am Not Afraid of the Senate Coalition Falling Apart. Marshal Grodzki's Position is Unthreatened

- I am not afraid of the Senate coalition falling apart. Moreover, this cooperation is going very well. One can have different opinions on some topics here, but a lasting bloc, a lasting agreement in the Senate is a fact. I understand that this may cause sleepless nights for many, but Marshal Grodzki's position is unthreatened - said Borys Budka during a press conference.

15:18

Budka:

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Morawiecki is healthy. On this occasion, I would like to appeal to the Prime Minister for the government to introduce clear procedures regarding conduct in such situations.
- I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Prime Minister Morawiecki is healthy, that it turns out this contact with an infected person will not cause him to contract Covid, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for his health and I hope that Prime Minister Morawiecki will return to performing his duties after the quarantine period he has undergone, but on this occasion, I would like to appeal to the Prime Minister for the government to finally introduce clear procedures regarding how to act in such situations. We have many signals from all over Poland that there is total chaos when a person has been in contact with the coronavirus - said Borys Budka during a press conference.

15:22

Budka:

Motion to Dismiss Ziobro Will Likely Be Processed at Next Sejm Session. As You Can See, We Were Right About Dismissing Ziobro

- This motion [to dismiss Ziobro] will, I suspect, be processed at the next Sejm session. As you can see, we were right when it comes to dismissing Zbigniew Ziobro. I would remind you that while we propose increasing funding for healthcare, Ziobro proposes greater criminal liability for doctors - Borys Budka said during a press conference.

16:30

Dworczyk:

Prime Minister Spends Quarantine in a Government Building Adapted for Such Occasions

We want to reiterate that today, after it turned out around 5:00 AM that one of the Government Protection Bureau (SOP) officers working with the Prime Minister tested positive for COVID-19, the Prime Minister has been placed in quarantine. A previously prepared procedure for such a situation has been implemented. The Prime Minister is spending his quarantine in one of the government buildings adapted for such occasions. From this facility, the Prime Minister can conduct video conferences, RZZK meetings, and Council of Ministers sessions. He can also sign documents requiring the signature of the Prime Minister. Today, the Prime Minister’s schedule has been fully realized,” said the Head of the Prime Minister’s Chancellery, Minister Michał Dworczyk, at a press conference.

16:37

Dworczyk:

The Prime Minister was tested for coronavirus. We are currently awaiting the results

"The Prime Minister was tested for coronavirus. We are currently awaiting the results. All further actions related to quarantine and medical care will be decided by the doctor and the Chief Sanitary Inspectorate (GIS). An epidemiological investigation is underway, and as a consequence of this investigation and its findings, the circle, the group of people who should also be quarantined, will be further defined" - said the Head of the Prime Minister's Chancellery, Minister Michał Dworczyk, at a press conference.

16:37

Dworczyk after Prime Minister's meeting with opposition leaders: We must try to at least rise above political divisions and work together to find the best solutions

"We want to emphasize that dialogue is very important for us in the situation of a pandemic. We want to explain to our partners the real situation related to the pandemic. We believe that in such cases, we must try to at least rise above political divisions and work together to find the best solutions" - said the Head of the Prime Minister's Chancellery, Minister Michał Dworczyk, at a press conference.

16:38

Dworczyk Following PM's Meeting with Opposition Leaders: Such Meetings Will Be Held Cyclically. I Hope We'll Be Able to Cooperate Better, Debate in the Sejm, Because Amendments and Further Legislative Proposals Will Be Needed

We are very keen to clarify the doubts that arise and are articulated in public discourse. We hope that our opposition partners will not yield to the temptation of instrumentally exploiting the difficult pandemic situation Poland is in. The meeting was constructive. There were differences of opinion, repeatedly emphasized by the participants. Nevertheless, it is assumed that if not all, then almost all participants representing the opposition, had good intentions and I believe that by continuing these meetings, because such meetings will be held cyclically, we will be able to cooperate better, debate more calmly in the Sejm, as amendments and further legislative proposals related to Covid will need to be adopted” - said the Head of the Prime Minister's Chancellery, Minister Michał Dworczyk, at a press conference.

16:44

Dworczyk After PM's Meeting with Opposition Leaders: KO Club Leader Primarily Focused on Attacks Against the Government, Including a Proposal to Liquidate TVP

Some politicians did not avoid the temptation to engage in such cynical politics, because the leader of the Civic Coalition club primarily focused on attacks against the government, including a proposal to liquidate TVP. There were also proposals seemingly related to Covid, but it's difficult to define them as substantive. If the leader proposes a greater number of tests, we remind that the number of tests is decided by doctors. In this case, substantive discussion was lacking” - said the Head of the Prime Minister's Chancellery, Minister Michał Dworczyk, at a press conference.

16:45

Müller:

At this moment, neither the Government Crisis Management Team nor the Council of Ministers have recommended introducing a state of emergency as defined by the constitution.

States of emergency in different countries have different formal characteristics. It is difficult to compare the formal nature of a state of emergency in other countries with states of emergency in Poland, which are constitutionally regulated. In Poland, we have a law, in effect for many years, that allows for certain actions to be taken during an epidemic or a state of epidemic threat. We distinguish two states. First, there was a state of threat, now a state of epidemic is in effect. We have all the tools to take the necessary actions to combat the epidemic. At this moment, neither the Government Crisis Management Team nor the Council of Ministers have recommended introducing a state of emergency as defined by the constitution” – said government spokesperson Minister Piotr Müller at a press conference.

17:52

Tomczyk After Meeting the Prime Minister: Once They Said 'The Emperor Has No Clothes.' Today I Can Say 'The Government Has No Clothes.' The government not only fails to respond to proposals, but it also presents none of its own.
First and foremost, there is no clear reaction. Once they said, 'The emperor has no clothes.' Today I can say, 'The government has no clothes.' The government not only fails to respond to the proposals being shown and conveyed, but the government also presents no proposals of its own regarding strategy. That is the biggest problem today. We must realize that the government is taking full responsibility for the situation in Poland – stated Cezary Tomczyk during a press conference.

19:39

Dworczyk:

Prime Minister's Result Will Be Known Within 1.5 Hours. We Are Optimistic

We are waiting. The result will certainly be known within 1.5 hours. We are optimistic. The Prime Minister is in very good condition. He had a very intensive day today. The quarantine did not affect his plans” - said the Head of the Prime Minister's Chancellery, Minister Michał Dworczyk, in an interview with Bogdan Rymanowski on 'Gość Wydarzeń' on Polsat News.

19:48

Dworczyk on the Animal Protection Act: I Wouldn't Paint Black Scenarios Here. I Assume the Law Will Be Passed

"The crucial element is the vote of the entire upper chamber, and then this bill returns to the Sejm, and ultimately the Sejm must have its say on the matter. I wouldn't paint black scenarios here. I assume that the law, which has been amended with proposals recently introduced by Minister Puda and Prime Minister Morawiecki, will be passed" - Minister Michał Dworczyk said in an interview with Polsat News.

19:56

Kosiniak-Kamysz on Animal Protection Act: We Count on Marshal Grodzki to Be Brave and Convince His Senators to Vote Against the Poorly Adopted Act, Inconsistent with the Constitution and European Law

- We had a political interest in the presidential elections taking place in May. Because my ratings were very good, everything was going up in the polls. Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska had very low ratings, and Platforma wanted to postpone these elections. But we didn't falter and didn't support PiS and Kaczyński's plan for postal voting, instead behaving decently. I do not speak of the decent behaviour, not in terms of the substance of this act. Let Platforma submit its own animal protection act tomorrow, let them show they can write something like that, and today they are voting for Kaczyński's "five". Is that opposition? We must use strong words today, because truly, respect for thousands of farmers, landowners, entrepreneurs, consumers, animal defenders who came to Warsaw today - said Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz in a conversation with Bogdan Rymanowski on the program "Gość Wydarzeń" on Polsat News.

- We count on Mr. Marshal Grodzki, just as he reliably conducted the legislative process, just as he conducted consultations well, and here is respect for Mr. Marshal Grodzki, to behave bravely and convince his senators to vote against the poorly adopted act, inconsistent with the constitution and European law - added the leader of PSL.

20:07

Kosiniak-Kamysz:

Animals Will Suffer More When Transported 1000 km to Slaughterhouses in Slovakia, Lithuania, the Czech Republic, or Other Countries. This is Not a 'Five for Animals,' but a 'Five Against Polish Farmers.'
As we reach this level of animal suffering, as Minister Dworczyk mentioned, although I believe animals will suffer more when transported 1000 km to slaughterhouses in Slovakia, Lithuania, the Czech Republic, or elsewhere, in other countries, the suffering could be greater. This is not a 'five for animals,' but a 'five against Polish farmers,' against Polish entrepreneurs - said Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz on Polsat News.

20:11

Zelensky in Gość Wiadomości: I Want to Thank Poland and President Duda Personally for Supporting Our Sovereignty and Territorial Integrity
- I want to thank Poland and President Duda personally for supporting our sovereignty and territorial integrity. The path to the EU is a two-way street, where we meet each other halfway. Mentally, Ukrainians are Europeans - said the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky.

20:13

Duda:

We Always Supported Ukraine's Aspiration to the EU, Not Its European Aspiration, Because Ukraine Has Always Been Part of Europe. We Do Not Forget Our Brethren
- We have always supported Ukraine's aspiration towards the European Union, not its European aspiration, because Ukraine has always been part of Europe. This is a political step that indeed requires changes and many reforms, but I want to say very strongly, we remember Poland's path to the EU, our sacrifices, our negotiations, but we are aware that we were striving for what we sometimes called the free West. Today we are there, but we do not forget our brethren, those who shared with us the difficult fate of being behind the Iron Curtain and who strive to be part of Western Europe. We support Ukraine on this path, and this my visit is proof of that. Every day and every action must be a step in this direction - said President Andrzej Duda on Gość Wiadomości.

20:17

Kosiniak-Kamysz:

These proposed changes equate the suffering of poultry with that of cattle. How is that supposed to differ? It's hypocritical.
These changes, which have been proposed, equate the suffering of poultry with that of cattle. So how is that supposed to differ? It's hypocritical. This law first divided the city and the countryside in Poland, it divided Poles, and now it's further dividing farmers, the owners of farms in the countryside. This principle of divide and rule is pathological - said Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz on Polsat News.
