- As far as I know, Minister Ziobro felt unwell at the time and, out of a sense of responsibility, simply did not appear at the swearing-in. He is not feeling well at the moment, but it is probably a cold. He has also decided to undergo testing - said Michał Wójcik on Radio Plus.

"One of the government's primary duties is, first and foremost, to present current information regarding the health status and the spread of Covid-19. Today we had a record increase in infections – 4280 cases, and about 30% more than the previous day. This means that with such dynamics, the number of infections will double approximately every 3 days. This is already a very high number, and we want this number to be limited, for this number to be flattened. We want to apply a similar strategy, albeit in different circumstances, to the one we applied a few months ago," said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki at a press conference.

"We are currently undertaking actions that will increase the number of available beds by several thousand in the next few days. The numbers already indicate that we have nearly 60% of beds free, meaning the situation regarding bed availability for patients remains safe. We want to act proactively, increasing the number of available beds across the country, anticipating a negative scenario, because everyone must consider such a possibility," said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki at a press conference.

"We have around 500 available ventilators for COVID-19 patients. This constitutes approximately nearly two-thirds of our available ventilators. In addition to this, we have over 500 ventilators already today in our warehouses and a further number that is also available, which is linked to the ventilator purchases we have made. This is very important because this safety is a very frequent topic of discussion and questions," said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki at a press conference.

"We have a period of great sacrifices behind us. Spring this year meant the closure of the entire economy, huge risks and economic losses, as indeed happened all over the world, which translated into a poor economic situation in Poland. But then, as everyone remembers, we acted swiftly through the financial and anti-crisis shield. We saved at least 3 million jobs and visibly rescued the economy, because EC data show that the recession in Poland will be the shallowest, or one of the shallowest, in the entire EU and one of the shallowest worldwide," said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki at a press conference.

"We have made a decision that from October 10th, we are introducing the rules applicable in yellow zones across the entire country, meaning the yellow zone is extended to cover the whole nation. This means we have an obligation to cover our mouths and noses in public spaces, public transport, and in places that are described in detail. One of the reasons for this decision is the fact that already today in the yellow zone we would have, and do have, about 100 counties. That's 1/3 of the country. We have a choice: either to close down movement in individual voivodeships, meaning restrictions on freedom of movement, or to introduce restrictions nationwide, similar to those in neighboring countries," said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki at a press conference.

"The maximum number of guests at occasion events is limited to 75 people, meaning the same rules as in yellow zones. In restaurants, one person per 4 square meters, cultural events with 25% audience capacity in enclosed spaces, and 100 people outdoors. These are some of the rules currently in effect in yellow zones," said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki at a press conference.

"Today the keywords are: calmness, responsibility, a responsible approach, and reducing emission risk. Today, we reduce emission risk through masks and distance. Increasing distance to over 1.5 meters and simultaneously wearing masks leads to a drastic reduction in the risk of Covid-19 transmission from person to person. We are not only strongly encouraging this, but also reminding everyone of this obligation throughout the country" - said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki at a press conference.

"We are currently a few steps ahead of a shortage of beds and ventilators, and we will do everything to stay ahead of this shortage, meaning to ensure that bed availability is properly provided" - said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki at a press conference.

"I very warmly encourage all seniors to stay at home, and to only move around when it is absolutely necessary. I encourage children and youth, grandchildren, to take care of the health of their parents and grandparents, because it is truly seriously threatened today. For people over 90 years of age, the mortality rate in case of coronavirus infection oscillates around 25%" – Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said at a press conference.

„Our strategy will be flexible. I want to emphasize this, because another meeting of the RZZK took place today. The government meets daily in the RZZK format. We react on an ongoing basis to information coming to us from Europe and around the world. We do not see the need to isolate the Republic today, at the present moment, as we did in the spring, because the situation is not as different as it was in the spring” - said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki at a press conference.

„On Saturday, we will present further rules concerning the fight against Covid-19, here and now, a fight conducted in an organized manner, utilizing best practices derived from our experiences, as well as those of other countries. I am convinced that this will lead to a slowdown in the growth of coronavirus in Poland” - said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki at a press conference.

- We see that the main task awaiting us in autumn is, indeed, an escalation. An escalation concerning the number of infections. As the Prime Minister said, today we have 4,280 infections, a third more than the previous day. Clearly, maintaining such a trend means an exponential increase in the number of infections, which we want to avoid – said Adam Niedzielski during a press conference.

Level three hospitals will be called coordination hospitals. The number of beds, which will increase as a result of this operation, as well as ventilators and personnel, will grow by nearly 4,000 places. The locations of coordination hospitals in Poland can be seen on the map behind me. It is very important that instead of nine highly specialized hospitals, as it was until now, we will have 16 hospitals – said Adam Niedzielski during a press conference.

- It's worth looking at a certain chart, when the virus was indeed in retreat across Europe and in Poland. Let's recall the situation from June. At that time, we were practically eliminating all significant restrictions, the economy was coming back to life. We were reopening various sectors of the economy, and practically everyone demanded it, and it was very justified. At the same time, as the Minister of Health said, the capacity of isolation facilities and hospitals was being reduced. We saw a decrease in the use of single-purpose hospitals. At the same time, please look at this chart, which very clearly shows that it was precisely at that time, when I mentioned that the situation was milder, that the situation was milder both in Poland and in all European countries. I think it's best to rely on facts, on numbers. At that time, the number of people recovering, the number of those who had recovered, exceeded the total number of people entering the system, i.e., infected individuals. So, we were dealing with the situation we described then, and in the summer, in line with the predictions of epidemiologists and virologists, the virus weakened, to put it mildly, and some even concluded that the problem of a second wave would not arrive. We warned against this second wave, but also, in line with what was happening across Europe, we reopened the economy in June, because we know perfectly well that closing the economy in March, April, and May translated into gigantic losses for everyone, for people who earn a living, for companies, for entrepreneurs who export their goods, who produce their goods, and therefore the balance between an appropriate approach to healthcare, to treating people, and to keeping the economy moving is constantly our basic priority. - On Saturday, we will communicate our decisions regarding schools in the coming periods, weeks, in great detail. As of today, the mechanism implemented in August is working reasonably well, but the pandemic is indeed spreading, and therefore, these rules may need to be tightened. Today, over 98% of schools are functioning in a relatively normal way, but I also notice increasing student absenteeism there, as we receive these statistics as well. This means that we may need to make some restrictions again, but we will communicate about this in due course, present our knowledge and our decisions regarding this aspect of the matter, i.e., education, on Saturday - stated Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki at a press conference.

- It's not that we are at the limit of our capacity. Indeed, the Polish government, as indicated by all international bodies, including the European Commission, is managing to stay at least one step ahead of the coronavirus. The responsibility of each of us and medical teams is fundamental and primary. The problem is that we often ignore these rules, hence the firm stance of the Prime Minister, Prime Minister Morawiecki, and the Minister of Health, declaring the entire country a so-called yellow zone and the necessity of wearing masks everywhere from Saturday is an entirely expected phenomenon.
