At 9:00 AM, a press briefing will take place at the Ministry of Justice. The topic of the conference: a call addressed to the Commissioner for Human Rights to defend media freedom.

At 9:15 AM, the first reading of a draft resolution by the Senate of the Republic of Poland on the situation in Belarus will be held during a session of Senate committees. Subsequently, at 10:00 AM, the Senate will resume its deliberations – this will be the second day of the session.

- Poland, as Belarus's neighbor, should be Belarus's ambassador in the EU and seek agreement during the election campaign period and during the period when there are no elections, not immediately after the elections. I'll tell you why. Because when the Polish government, represented by, among others, Marshal Karczewski, went and patted President Lukashenko on the head, we laughed and said everything was okay. It turns out that when you talk to Lukashenko gently and don't use his rhetoric, you're not able to win - said Krzysztof Gawkowski in an interview with Piotr Witwicki on Polsat News's "Graffiti" program.

- Why is it that when we deal with protests like these [from the LGBT community], the state acts with double force, meaning the baton is in one hand and handcuffs in the other, and when it comes to prosecuting a pedophile, for example, we say: you can walk free for two months, not like that. We'll lock up some Margot, and on the other hand, for two months we'll say that a pedophile is awaiting their court case while free. Is this a fair state? - said Krzysztof Gawkowski on Polsat News.

- Most likely November 22, it all depends on whether the 'COVID' conditions allow it - said Krzysztof Gawkowski on Polsat News. 

„Our diplomats are on site. We will intervene in this matter. We will certainly not leave these Poles without help. I was also in contact with MP Szczerba, and he was passing this information to me. We are acting here” - said Deputy Minister Paweł Jabłoński on Polish Radio 24.

"Though Belarus's president hasn't changed in 26 years, and he may seem eternal to some people, that is not the case at all. We have seen examples of political change in parts of the world where it seemed no change was possible. I believe that here [in Belarus] too, evolutionarily, situations will arise where the Belarusian nation very clearly shows that it does not like the direction the country is heading, and that through change, it will exert pressure," said Deputy Minister Paweł Jabłoński on Polskie Radio 24. 

- I would like to recall that the Prime Minister mentioned several months ago that we would want to open schools in a stationary mode. This is also a result of the experiences of other European countries. Information we have from other parts of Europe clearly indicates that most countries are behaving similarly to Poland, meaning they recognize that this remote, distance learning mode has its drawbacks. I have spoken about this several times. It turns out, however, that teachers have fewer opportunities to discipline students, mobilize them for work, and perhaps the results of the matura exam are partly indicative of this, as is perhaps the period of the strike last school year, when students did not attend classes for several weeks, and perhaps a few other elements. But it seems today, and we know this based on data from the Minister of Health and GIS, that the presence of children and students in schools should not cause more serious epidemic consequences. If we can be in large numbers on the beach, go to the store, then we can just as well return to school. After all, workplaces are functioning normally, and these outbreaks of infection are local outbreaks, in workplaces or social welfare facilities, whereas we anticipate the possibility of eventual restrictions on school functioning, a partial or complete transition to distance learning, if the epidemic situation is more difficult in a given facility or its vicinity. However, today in most schools in Poland, it is calmly possible to return to traditional classes, with certain restrictions - stated Dariusz Piontkowski in an interview with Dorota Łosiewicz on TVP1's "Political Fifteen Minutes".

- Hate speech and ideological diktat have led to the forced resignation of Piotr Jedliński, the editor-in-chief of Radio "Nowy Świat," solely because he described LGBT activist Michał Sz. as a man, stated Deputy Minister of Justice Marcin Romanowski at a press briefing.

Romanowski informed that he had handed over a letter to the Commissioner for Human Rights, Adam Bodnar, calling for immediate action in defense of the journalist. - I believe that the Commissioner for Human Rights will undertake investigative actions into the circumstances of Piotr Jedliński's forced resignation, he stated. He emphasized that there is no room in Poland for the violation of media freedom or for preventive censorship.

During the conference, the minister recalled a statement by Ombudsman Adam Bodnar from a few months ago, in which he defended a journalist dismissed from public media. - Article 54 of the Constitution guarantees everyone, and therefore also representatives of the press, freedom to express their views and to gather and disseminate information. Preventive censorship of the mass media and licensing of the press are prohibited under the Constitution of the Republic of Poland. - These are your words, with which you, in February of this year, requested action regarding the case of a public media journalist who was fired - emphasized Romanowski.

- We expect the ombudsman to take actions aimed at defending the constitutional rights and freedoms of the journalist, who has fallen victim to ideological violence - said the Deputy Minister of Justice at the conference.

"Opening schools at this number of cases poses a huge risk, especially when combined with the seasonality of another illness that awaits us, namely influenza. In September, in October, when the flu season begins, 100,000 patients report to doctors daily with suspected upper respiratory tract infections. We will have to differentiate whether it is a common cold, the flu, or Covid-19" - stated the leader of the Polish People's Party, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, at a press conference. 

"I support Prime Minister Morawiecki's request to convene a [European Council] summit. However, it is currently ineffective. I am requesting him to convene a meeting of all political forces and a joint request to the head of the European Council, to the [European Commission] President, to all institutions, for a summit to be held where the topic of Belarus will be addressed. Not in September" - stated the leader of the Polish People's Party, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, at a press conference.

- According to the Ministry of Health and the Chief Sanitary Inspector, the current epidemic situation allows for the restoration of standard classes, involving direct contact between teachers and students, in the overwhelming majority of educational facilities across our country – the overwhelming majority of schools, kindergartens, and nurseries. Therefore, we are talking about the possibility of a safe return to schools - said Dariusz Piontkowski during a press conference.

- We have the impression that some media outlets only notice a few counties in Poland, while the remaining several hundred are completely overlooked by some media and some politicians. Please note that the overwhelming majority of counties in Poland are in a standard epidemic situation, which allows for the calm implementation of the guidelines we discussed last week - the minister added.

According to Znadniemna.pl: - In a conversation with Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, Andżelika Borys emphasized that the Union of Poles in Belarus (ZPB), as a social organization, did not engage on either side in the presidential campaign in Belarus. Nevertheless, as part of civil society, the ZPB expresses solidarity with the victims of the brutal pacification of peaceful protests that have spilled onto the streets of Belarusian cities.

The president of the ZPB - as reported by the Polish portal in Belarus - informed the Prime Minister of Poland that some ZPB activists and journalists sympathetic to Poles in Belarus have become victims of militia roundups and beatings in Minsk, Grodno, Lida, Volkovysk, and other cities.

- The Main Board of the ZPB is monitoring the situation and is capable of supporting victims of beatings and arrests on its own - said Andżelika Borys. Mateusz Morawiecki, in turn, assured his interlocutor of the solidarity of the Polish government with Belarusian civil society and that Poles in Belarus can count on support from the Polish State.

- I think the best solution would be some self-reflection from Alexander Lukashenko. I believe this is possible because pressure yields results, and I hope it will continue to do so. - I know there are several candidates on our side of the political scene, but I don't know about any decisions, because there hasn't been much time for that recently, although it is an important position, of course. It seems to me that she is the lady proposed by Lewica. Politically, from the perspective of counting on the support of the parliamentary majority, it will probably be difficult - said Piotr Gliński in Polsat News.

This lowers the standard of political life in Poland and the prestige of the Senate.
