Political Week Ahead: Senate and Sejm Sessions, Pompeo for the 100th Anniversary of the Battle of Warsaw
Senate Session. On Tuesday at 3:00 PM, a three-day Senate session will commence, originally scheduled for last week. The agenda includes, among other items, the Act on Amending Certain Acts to Ensure the Functioning of Healthcare in Connection with the COVID-19 Epidemic and After Its Cessation, and the Act on Support for the Trade Receivables Insurance Market in Connection with Counteracting the Economic Effects of COVID-19. Sejm Session. On Friday at 10:00 AM, a one-day Sejm session will begin, which was originally planned for last Friday. The agenda includes, among other items, the first reading of the government's draft act on the organization of breeding and reproduction of farm animals and a vote on the so-called privatization act. The Sejm is also expected to address the sugar tax – in total, there are two acts, a "base" act and one amending the vacatio legis. Pompeo in Poland. On Saturday, U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will participate in the centenary celebrations of the Battle of Warsaw. The schedule also includes meetings with President Andrzej Duda and Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki. Furthermore, Pompeo and the Minister of National Defence, Mariusz Błaszczak, will sign a military cooperation agreement. PAD's Plan. As we hear from President Duda's associates, on Friday – on the occasion of Polish Army Day – general nominations are planned, followed by participation in the opening of the Józef Piłsudski Museum in Sulejówek, and in the evening, a memorial roll call at Powązki Cemetery. We Appeal to the Belarusian Authorities for Full Recognition and Respect of Fundamental Democratic Standards. Joint Statement by the Presidents of Poland and Lithuania

- As neighbors of Belarus, we appeal to the Belarusian authorities for full recognition and respect of fundamental democratic standards. We call for a halt to violence and for the respect of fundamental freedoms, human and civil rights, including the rights of national minorities and freedom of speech – wrote the Presidents of Poland and Lithuania in a statement regarding the elections in Belarus.

"We believe that dialogue always constitutes the best method for ensuring social development and discussion on reforms and political actions. We treat the sovereignty and independence of Belarus with the utmost respect and hope that conditions will arise for deepening cooperation with the society and state institutions of Belarus.

We are convinced that closer cooperation with the European Union is in Belarus's interest. We want the door for this cooperation to remain open and we remain ready to continue supporting Belarus on the path to deepening relations with the united European family."
