Duda on Kwaśniewski's Presence at Inauguration: He Showed Class

- First and foremost, I would like to thank most sincerely all those MPs and guests who came. I am enormously grateful to President Kwaśniewski. The President showed class; everyone knows that on a whole range of political and ideological issues, we disagree, the President holds different views from mine, but we have met several times. They were always very cultured, pleasant conversations, and I am grateful to the President for this very state-oriented gesture of his presence today. I also perceive it as a gesture of a certain cordiality, as well as inter-presidential solidarity with me. I am very glad he was there. In my opinion, he showed class by recognizing that the Polish state is simply more important than differences in views, because differences in views exist and will exist, but the Polish state must endure, develop, and will have its various political turns, because it is democracy. Fortunately, this democracy, as can be seen, is deepening in our country, is becoming more mature, functioning better, whereas the state must be respected, and the election of a president is an important event for the state. The presidential inauguration is an extremely significant state ceremony, a celebration that in some sense also directs the actions of state authorities for the coming years, and this is an important moment - stated President Andrzej Duda in an interview with editor Bogdan Rymanowski on Polsat News's "Gość Wydarzeń".
