At 11:00 AM in Warsaw, President Andrzej Duda will participate in a meeting of the National Council of NSZZ RI Solidarność (Rural Solidarity Trade Union).

- Yes, we are in telephone contact [with senators infected with coronavirus], because two are in hospital, and one is basically completely asymptomatic, is in home isolation. Generally, all feel well, Senator Bober has no symptoms, while colleagues fortunately have mild symptoms - stated Tomasz Grodzki in "One on One" TVN24.

- Given the incubation period, as the sessions seem to have been key, these Thursday sessions in both the Sejm and the Senate, the largest number of tests will be possible from tomorrow at the earliest, and as for the chancellery employees, they will be conducted on separate days, because these contacts also occurred at different times - stated Tomasz Grodzki in "Jeden na jeden" on TVN24.

- I must defend the senators here, because throughout the nation, especially after such somewhat irresponsible statements that there is nothing to fear from the coronavirus, a certain laxity has set in among the people. They, in turn, defend themselves by saying that the minimum distance was maintained. This is a violation of the rules for which, as we can see, there is some payment to be made - stated Tomasz Grodzki on TVN24's "One on One".

- The epidemic is far from over. The number of cases is growing and for some time we practiced the ostrich method, burying our heads in the sand, not conducting tests. This means we don't have the disease. When we went to Silesia with tests, it turned out there were many cases. Every epidemiologist will say that there are likely 5 times more infections than we test, as we are consistently at the back when it comes to testing - stated Tomasz Grodzki in "One on One" on TVN24.

"There are certain principles that in a democratic state should be respected by all politicians. This fundamental principle is to respect the choice of society, the choice of the nation. Society has decided, and in a very clear way, that Mr. President Andrzej Duda is to be president for a second term. It was an unequivocal victory. Almost half a million votes ahead. Today, the attempt to claim that this victory is invalid, that it can be questioned, is not only irresponsible but strikes at the very principle of democracy. I appeal to opposition politicians to turn back from this path" - said Deputy Prime Minister Jacek Sasin on Polskie Radio Jedynka.

„Today is the first meeting of the team. It is organizational in nature, establishing how this team is to function in the future. We have prepared a proposal for the social side. Minister Maciej Małecki will chair these discussions. We have agreed with the trade union side that within this team we will talk not only about issues directly concerning PGG, the challenges, problems facing this group, and ways to solve them. We will also talk about cross-cutting issues, such as the EU's climate policy” – said Deputy Prime Minister Jacek Sasin in an interview on Jedynka radio.

- I don't really have a choice here. I must accept that Poles decided as they decided. Please remember that the turnout was very high. People made their decisions. Of course, there were irregularities, and it would be good if elections were not conducted in this manner. It would be good to fix public media, but that is a task for the future - said Szymon Hołownia in a conversation with Beata Michniewicz in the "Political Salon" on Polish Radio Trójka.

- I believe he is a bad president and a bad choice. And President Duda is working intensely to confirm my judgment, among other things, with what he was spouting yesterday about masks and about the epidemic. This is a man who is simply not suited for this position - said Szymon Hołownia on Radio Trójka.

The Ministry of Health has reported 680 new cases of coronavirus infection in Poland. Of these, 222 were recorded in the Silesian Voivodeship. Sadly, 6 individuals have died.

- In connection with this [epidemic situation], we, as the Chancellery of the Sejm, will do everything to ensure that this assembly proceeds safely for the members of the National Assembly, for invited guests, as well as journalists and employees of the Chancellery of the Sejm and officers who perform their duties here daily. To fulfill the recommendations of the Chief Sanitary Inspectorate (GIS), we have taken all necessary steps. Just as before every Sejm session, all procedures related to this important, significant event, including sanitary and epidemiological conditions, will be observed. Everywhere, as always, before each session, disinfectant liquids will be available. Communication routes, the chamber hall, Sejm session rooms, and committee rooms will also be disinfected. The temperature of every parliamentarian and invited guest will be measured at the main entrance. Everyone will receive masks. Regarding the members of the National Assembly, they will be given PP3 masks, in accordance with GIS recommendations - stated the Head of the Chancellery of the Sejm, Agnieszka Kaczmarska, at a briefing in the Sejm.

- Every [Member of Parliament] has access to the plenary hall, regardless of whether they are wearing a mask or not. This is the National Assembly, it has its own regulations. Therefore, every Member of Parliament has the right to enter the chamber - stated the Head of the Chancellery of the Sejm, Agnieszka Kaczmarska, at a briefing in the Sejm.

“I have no idea if anyone in the Polish Coalition will follow the path of Mr. Kałuża from Civic Coalition and betray their voters, as did the Civic Coalition councillor in Silesia, who actually changed the election results in the Silesian Voivodeship. I hope that no one in the Polish Coalition or anyone in Civic Coalition will betray opposition voters and switch to the side of the ruling camp,” said Senate Vice-Marshal Michał Kamiński from PSL-Polish Coalition in an interview with Roch Kowalski in the “Political Interview” on TOK FM.

“I hope that [the majority in the Senate] is unshaken. I don’t even have a shadow of a signal to suspect that the majority in the Senate could be shaken,” he added. 

- First of all, I am not a member of the National Assembly, but I am simply not in Warsaw because I promised my children that I would spend time with them, actually after, well, 18 weekends of non-stop work - said Rafał Trzaskowski in an interview with Bogdan Rymanowski on the program "Gość Wydarzeń" on Polsat News.

- So it's not a conscious boycott? - the journalist pressed.

- No. I believe there's nothing to boycott about this National Assembly - replied the Mayor of Warsaw.

- I will submit such an initiative, I spoke about discussing it with the councillors' club, first Civic Coalition, but I also committed myself at the last city council session to talk about it with PiS councillors, and within a few weeks there will be such a proposal. In September - said Rafał Trzaskowski in Polsat News.

- I believe that my task, together with Borys Budka or by supporting Borys Budka, is also to rebuild the Civic Platform, which must open up to new people, new ideas, and be completely reconfigured – said Rafał Trzaskowski in Polsat News.

- Of course, Borys Budka is the undisputed leader of the Civic Platform. He will be the one rebuilding the Platform, and I will support him in this – he added.

- Szymon Hołownia also has his hard work cut out for him, I say this without a hint of irony, let him do his thing. I don't intend to compete with anyone. Szymon Hołownia has been building this movement for many, many months, and that's very good, because it will harness the energy of other people. We will harness the energy of those people who don't see themselves in Szymon Hołownia's movement, which is set to become a political party, nor in other political parties - said Rafał Trzaskowski on Polsat News.

- We clearly announced, we are meeting at the end of August as local government officials, because the backbone of this movement will be local government in Gdańsk, and on September 5th we will say exactly what we are doing, in what sequence - he added.

- I believe that if we want to win the elections against PiS, the opposition must reach an agreement. While maintaining its distinctiveness. This is not meant to be one political party - said Rafał Trzaskowski on Polsat News.

- The movement I am establishing is not intended to be a political party. If anyone who will be active in the movement sees their place on the electoral lists, they should join a party. I will cooperate with everyone, and I will also explain to my colleagues that if we are to win against PiS, it would be beneficial to ultimately have a single electoral list, on which it will be clear who is from PSL, from Hołownia's movement, from Civic Platform, in order to win these elections and ultimately organize a coalition government - he added.
