Political Week Ahead: PAD's Swearing-In, Supreme Court on Elections, Extra Sejm Session, and PiS Awayday

The most significant political topics of the upcoming week include a Supreme Court session on the validity of the presidential elections, the swearing-in of President Duda during a National Assembly session, as well as an extraordinary session of the Sejm and an awayday for the PiS parliamentary club. A Senate session was also scheduled for the upcoming week, but after a coronavirus infection was detected in Senator Libicki, it has been postponed to the following week.

Supreme Court on Presidential Elections. On Monday at 12:00 PM, the Supreme Court, composed of the entire Chamber of Extraordinary Control and Public Affairs, will convene to adopt a resolution regarding the validity of the presidential elections.

National Assembly. On Thursday at 10:00 AM, the National Assembly will gather in the Sejm's plenary hall for the swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected President of the Republic of Poland. During the assembly, Andrzej Duda is expected to deliver an address outlining the key objectives of his presidency.

PiS Awayday Session. Also on Thursday, the PiS parliamentary club will hold a one-day awayday session. As announced by the ruling party's politicians, the session will serve to summarize the concluded presidential campaign. Furthermore, political plans for the near future will be outlined.

Extraordinary Sejm Session. The day after the National Assembly, on Friday at 10:00 AM, a one-day Sejm session will take place. The agenda includes, among other items, the first reading of the government's draft bill on the organization of breeding and reproduction of farm animals, and a vote on the so-called restitution bill. The Sejm was also scheduled to address the sugar tax, but following the postponement of the Senate session, this matter will likely also be delayed.

Subcommittee on the Medical Fund. In the coming week, the Sejm committee will continue its work on the presidential draft bill concerning the Medical Fund. Sessions will be held on Thursday at 5:00 PM and on Friday at 11:00 AM.
