Macierewicz on the new United Right coalition agreement: Basic issues are already settled, so I don't think there will be any trouble negotiating the full shape of the agreement

- This matter will be resolved and presented to the public after the holidays. This is the moment when we will have to approach a new arrangement between individual political circles within the United Right. Basic issues are already settled, so I don't think there will be any trouble negotiating the full shape of the agreement – said Antoni Macierewicz in an interview with Dorota Kania on Polskie Radio 24.

Kierwiński:

I'm calming everyone down. Civic Platform is and will be. We are preparing to open the party to new people who would like to join us after Trzaskowski's campaign.

I'm calming everyone down. Civic Platform is and will be. It's a party with a great, 20-year tradition, almost the longest on the Polish political scene, so certainly nothing here will change. Indeed, we are preparing for a new political season, we are preparing for a new opening, an opening of the party to new people who would like to join us after Rafał Trzaskowski's campaign. Simultaneously, Rafał Trzaskowski, let's emphasize - the Vice-Chairman of PO, meaning someone who will participate in and change the Platform, will also be building a social movement dedicated to everyone who does not want to join a party but wants to be active” - said the Secretary-General of PO, Marcin Kierwiński, in „Sygnały dnia” on Jedynka radio.

08:27

Kierwiński:

Budka and Trzaskowski are a pair that will allow for changes to both Civic Platform and the entire opposition political scene

I know that they [Rafał Trzaskowski] cooperate excellently with Borys Budka. This pair of two leaders – on one hand, Borys Budka, the freshly elected Vice-Chairman of Civic Platform, and Rafał Trzaskowski, our presidential candidate, a man who garnered over 10 million votes – this is a pair that will allow for changes to both Civic Platform and the entire political scene on the opposition's side” – said Marcin Kierwiński, Secretary General of Civic Platform, in „Sygnały dnia” on Jedynka radio.

Dworczyk:

Various Scenarios of Changes Aimed at Making the Government More Effective Are Being Analyzed
Nobody is talking about the liquidation [of ministries]. Various scenarios of changes aimed at making the government operate even more effectively are being analyzed. I believe a certain maturity lies in the fact that the government can draw conclusions from the past few years of its functioning. I think it is in the interest of everyone, not just politicians, but above all, the Polish people, that the government functions efficiently and effectively – stated Michał Dworczyk in a conversation with Beata Michniewicz on "Trójka's Political Salon."

Dworczyk on Government Reshuffle: 'To My Knowledge, Decisions on the Final Shape and Changes Have Not Yet Been Made'

- To my knowledge, decisions on the final shape and changes have not yet been made. Various scenarios are being considered, but the overriding issue is improving the government's operational efficiency. We have been saying for many years that we need to end 'ministry-specific Poland' [a term implying siloed ministerial work], that there are a number of projects being implemented horizontally, and this requires good cooperation between ministries. The steps or preparations we are currently undertaking are aimed precisely at making the government operate more effectively and efficiently – stated Michał Dworczyk in the "Political Salon of Trójka."

Dworczyk on the Istanbul Convention: To My Knowledge, No Final Decisions Have Been Made Yet
Of course, such a decision is a government decision, but also a political decision of the parliamentary majority. To my knowledge, no final decisions have been made yet [regarding the Istanbul Convention]. We are currently at a stage where a request has been submitted to the Ministry of Family by the Minister of Justice - stated Michał Dworczyk in "Trójka Political Salon".

Gowin:

We Must Decide How Many Ministries Each Coalition Party Gets. Proportions Shouldn't Change, But It's All Up for Discussion. I Can Assure All Listeners That the United Right Camp Will Not Divide Over Posts.

- I am at the disposal, I will say it perhaps a bit pathetically, at the disposal of my homeland in any role in which I can be useful. As you have noticed, and surely all of you as well, in the role of a so-called ordinary MP, I can leave a significant mark on Polish reality, if I may refer to the matter of the election date – stated Jarosław Gowin on Radio Wrocław.

- I will not be drawn into such speculations [about a potential return to government]. At the moment, for example, we must decide how many ministries each coalition party gets. Together with Minister Ziobro and Solidarna Polska, Porozumienie believes that the proportions in this regard should not change, but it is all up for discussion. I can assure all listeners that the United Right camp will certainly not divide over posts – he continued.

11:33

Gowin:

We'd Like to Finalize a New Coalition Agreement at the Beginning of September and Carry Out Government Restructuring and Personnel Changes Then

- Minister Macierewicz evidently has more knowledge than I do [regarding the coalition agreement]. Because in my assessment, and I know Minister Ziobro approaches this matter similarly, we are at a very preliminary stage of negotiations. However, these negotiations must proceed very dynamically, because we would like to finalize a new coalition agreement at the beginning of September and carry out government restructuring and personnel changes then - stated Jarosław Gowin on Radio Wrocław.

Paruch:

With Such a Proliferation of Constitutional Ministries, Synergy Necessary for Achieving Grand Political Goals Cannot Be Attained

- There are promises made during four election campaigns. After the parliamentary elections, an inventory of promises was made; there were over 200 of them. In addition, there were promises made by President Andrzej Duda during his election campaign. We need to wisely address the implementation of these promises, secondly, establish a hierarchy of which promises should be implemented in what order, and thirdly, perhaps re-evaluate these promises in the context of the next phase of the pandemic. However, the economy has slowed down. It will not be as good a year as anticipated, 2020. It will likely be significantly worse, economists point out. This needs to be thought through, and the government's structure must be tailored accordingly. It cannot rely on 24 constitutional ministers, because with such a proliferation of constitutional ministries, the synergy necessary to achieve grand, new political goals cannot be attained – said Waldemar Paruch in an interview with Łukasz Jankowski on Radio WNET.

Trzaskowski:

I received an invitation from the President of Poland for Thursday morning and will naturally accept it
I received an invitation from President Duda for Thursday morning and will naturally accept this invitation. Especially since it is the day of preparations for the anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising. I will also see the President at the Uprising Museum and I am counting on a constructive conversation - stated Rafał Trzaskowski at a press briefing.

Government Proposes PLN 2800 Minimum Wage for 2021

The Council of Ministers has adopted the assumptions for the state budget bill for 2021. As stated in the announcement: - The government's policy will be directed towards the quickest possible rebuilding of Poland's economic potential. Currently, our economy's prospects depend primarily on the development of the global economic crisis triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic.

It is assumed that GDP will fall by 4.6% in 2020, and grow by 4.0% in 2021. Domestic demand will remain the main driver of growth. The scenario for 2020 assumes a 2.4% decrease in average employment in the national economy, and 0.7% in the following year.

It is predicted that the registered unemployment rate will increase from 5.2% in December 2019 to 8.0% at the end of 2020. In 2021, the unemployment rate will be 7.5%.

The government has also adopted proposals for the amount of the minimum wage for work and the amount of the minimum hourly rate in 2021. It has been proposed that the minimum wage for work next year will be PLN 2800. This means an increase in the minimum wage by 7.7 percent compared to the minimum wage applicable this year (PLN 2600).

Hołownia:

Our Movement Already Exists. On Friday, at a Press Conference, I Will Share More Details About Our First Hundred Days.
Our movement already exists. On Friday, at a press conference, I will share more details about the specifics of our first hundred days of activity after the campaign, because we are working all the time. This is our think tank, which can essentially be said to have already been established, namely Strategy 2050. It is a civic movement, the Association 2050. It is likely that in the future it will take on a form similar to a political party – said Szymon Hołownia in an interview with Anita Werner on TVN24's "Fakty po faktach" (Facts After Facts).

20:03

Brudziński:

We Must Debate, But After Electoral Emotions Subside, We Need to Find Common Ground. Unfortunately, We're Unlucky to Have Opponents Who Can't Lose Gracefully
President Duda spoke words that Mr. Trzaskowski found very difficult to utter in the first few minutes after it became clear he had won the election. Specifically, he congratulated him on an excellent result, because it must be noted that Rafał Trzaskowski's individual performance was very impressive. President Duda had no problem congratulating his opponent on the one hand, and also, in those first minutes of his speech in Pułtusk, he invited Rafał Trzaskowski and his wife to the Presidential Palace to discuss matters important to Poland. Because debate is the essence of democracy, I repeat this often, and we must debate, but when electoral emotions subside, we need to find a common axis of cooperation and understanding. Unfortunately, we are unlucky to have political opponents who cannot lose gracefully, and in this case, Rafał Trzaskowski also failed to behave properly and nicely. He twitched his nose at the invitation itself, then questioned the election results, only to finally, as they say colloquially, admit with a sour face that he did indeed lose the election. Because despite the impressive result he achieved, the most important thing in all of this is that he lost these elections. Andrzej Duda won these elections. I am glad that this meeting will take place - stated Joachim Brudziński in a conversation with Bogdan Rymanowski on Polsat News's "Gość Wydarzeń".

20:08

Brudziński:

I Fear Neither Hołownia Nor Trzaskowski. I Only Fear Voters, Poles, Who Might Thank Us at the Ballot Box

- Humility in politics is always advisable, and we will certainly never be accompanied by such hubris and arrogance as to claim, like Donald Tusk once did, that Civic Platform has no one to lose to. I always repeat this: PiS always has someone to lose to, but I fear neither Mr. Hołownia nor Mr. Trzaskowski. The only ones I fear are the voters, Poles, who might thank us at the ballot box. For now, they have trusted us once again – stated Joachim Brudziński in "Gość Wydarzeń" on Polsat News.

20:09

Hołownia:

We Won't Repeat the Mistakes of Petru, Kukiz, Palikot, and Many Others Who Proved to Be the Third Force in Elections

- We won't repeat the mistakes of Ryszard Petru, Paweł Kukiz, Janusz Palikot, and many others who proved to be the third force in elections. Yes, I am convinced that we will manage to do it, precisely because we are building from the ground up, precisely because we are building autonomous financing through citizen fundraising, which is gradually and nicely gaining momentum, and through concrete actions we intend to take – said Szymon Hołownia on TVN24.

20:34

Sasin:

PGG's Situation is Difficult, Stemming from Two Main Reasons - Our External Environment (EU Climate Policy) and the Coronavirus Epidemic

The situation [at PGG] is difficult. It stems from two fundamental reasons - our external environment, namely the European Union's climate policy, which makes electricity generation from coal very expensive due to CO2 emission charges. On the other hand, the coronavirus epidemic, which has severely impacted the mines of Polska Grupa Górnicza. Extraction has decreased, and consequently, the group's revenues have also fallen. All of this contributes to the difficult situation and necessitates a recovery plan”, said Deputy Prime Minister Jacek Sasin in an interview with Edyta Lewandowska on “Gość Wiadomości” on TVP Info.

20:39

Sasin:

A Working Group Will Be Appointed. We Will Seek Solutions for the Economic Recovery of PGG That Are Socially Acceptable
“A working group will be appointed, which will consist of representatives of the company's [PGG] management, employees, trade unions, but also government representatives – and not only from the Ministry of State Assets, but also from other ministries responsible for energy policy, primarily the Ministry of Climate. We will seek solutions that are economically justified, will mean the economic recovery of PGG, but on the other hand will be socially acceptable,” said Deputy Prime Minister Jacek Sasin on TVP Info.

20:44

Sasin:

We Want Dialogue, to Seek the Best Solutions. That is Our Creed. We Talk with Miners, We Don't Shoot Rubber Bullets at Them.

It is impossible to effectively implement changes and reform a company like PGG in conflict. The experiences of previous governments have shown this. Please recall the government of Prime Minister Ewa Kopacz, who at the time tried to implement changes in mining in 2015. It triggered huge social protests that swept through Silesia, and her intentions still did not yield the expected results. We do not want to follow that path. We want to talk. We want dialogue, to seek the best solutions. That is our creed. We talk with miners, we don’t shoot rubber bullets at them, as the governments of PO and PSL did” – said Deputy Prime Minister Jacek Sasin on TVP Info.
