A meeting of the Visegrad Group heads of government will take place in Warsaw. At 9:00 AM, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki will welcome the Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic, Igor Matovič, at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister (KPRM). At 9:10 AM, press statements by the Prime Ministers of Poland and Slovakia are scheduled, followed by a meeting of the prime ministers at 9:30 AM.

- It was simply a physical attack. MPs, ministers Ozdoba and Kaleta were at Rafał Trzaskowski's press conference yesterday, among other reasons, because for many days they have been tracking irregularities occurring in the capital's MPWiK company - said Adam Bielan in an interview with Katarzyna Gójska on "Sygnały dnia" on Polish Radio Channel One.

- We are currently facing a campaign of immense hatred towards Mr. President Andrzej Duda, but also towards his voters. We are witnessing an unprecedented action, even by Polish standards, of destroying banners of Mr. President Andrzej Duda - said Adam Bielan in an interview with Jedynka radio.

- It is a disgraceful matter that Rafał Trzaskowski's campaign staff and their media, it is particularly outrageous when we speak of foreign media, which here in Poland should stay away from the electoral process. And my appeal to the German ambassador to intervene in this matter, because we do not wish for such foreign interventions in the electoral process. Poland does not interfere in the electoral process in Germany. We are counting on it being the same in the case of German interventions in the Polish electoral process. I appeal to the new German ambassador to speak with the owners of the Fakt newspaper - said Adam Bielan on Jedynka radio.

– A significant difference [between Andrzej Duda and Rafał Trzaskowski], but in reality, as I see it in the election campaign, it is very motivating, because if we look at the bigger picture of the math and how the entire pie was divided in the first round, it’s clear that there are, firstly, opportunities and reserves in certain parts of the electoral map, and secondly, the mathematics of the opposition or democratic opposition candidates is such that their sum, the sum of their support from the first round, can bring, and I deeply believe it will bring, victory to Rafał Trzaskowski – stated Grzegorz Schetyna in an interview with Agata Adamek on TVN24’s “Jeden na jeden”.

- I believe that he [Andrzej Duda] could lose [the second round], precisely because of this language, a language of ill emotions, aggression, pushing away, distancing, exclusion. This is a question of those few million votes, perhaps several hundred thousand, perhaps in the end tens of thousands, which could be decisive in this final showdown. I believe that Andrzej Duda, in this final stretch of the campaign, truly reveals PiS's politics. He speaks like a PiS politician, like PiS activists at every level. He speaks about himself, about his own people, he excludes and distances – stated Grzegorz Schetyna in "One on One" on TVN24.

„Rafał Trzaskowski, his political environment, his political backing is capable of saying anything today, is capable of denying anything, just to have a chance of being elected by Poles. We all see this. Poles see this. President Andrzej Duda is backed by Poles. Andrzej Duda meets with Poles, talks with Poles, and solves the problems of Poles, while Rafał Trzaskowski is backed by PO, Marcin Kierwiński, Tomasz Grodzki, Borys Budka” - said the President's spokesperson, Błażej Spychalski, in an interview with Michał Rachoń on TVP Info. 

- This is the first step. The presidency won on July 12th by Rafał Trzaskowski will be the first step towards the democratic camp's victory over PiS. It will be 3 years, perhaps less, but of hard work to build a vision of Poland after PiS, and today this is a challenge for mature politicians - stated Grzegorz Schetyna in "One on One" on TVN24.

- Key issues at this moment naturally include European matters. These are topics related to the multiannual financial framework, which I discussed yesterday with the Prime Minister of Sweden, the day before yesterday with Chancellor Merkel, and Charles Michel, President of the European Council. But these also include topics concerning the Recovery Fund. Here, I am very pleased that Poland and Slovakia, and indeed the entire Visegrad Group, have a very similar approach, because it is easier to negotiate, there's no denying it, within such a group of friends - said Mateusz Morawiecki during a joint statement with the Prime Minister of Slovakia, Igor Matovič. 

"*Of course, no one knew the questions [from the debate before the first round]. It's hard to prove that we aren't camels. I don't have anything at hand to swear on right now, but I can say that I would also testify under oath that no one knew these questions. It's difficult to make this accusation regarding the last debate, when questions were asked that had already been in public debate before. Part of them were raised during the campaign, part by our staff. It is all the more difficult to accuse journalists of asking questions that have been circulating in public debate for a week. Couldn't a candidate predict that questions on these issues would be asked?*" - said Radosław Fogiel, deputy spokesperson for PiS, in a program on Polish Radio Channel III.

"I don't have such a low opinion of Rafał Trzaskowski's intellectual competence to believe that he doesn't understand that the proposal for a debate across three national television stations is the most open offer possible, so it is only and exclusively a political game, like talking about a fix, which is absolute nonsense. When it comes to fixes, I could ask how it is that on the matter of a debate on TVN, Trzaskowski's campaign team and TVN station are using the same arguments. That's a fix. Perhaps Trzaskowski could tell us about it" – said the deputy spokesperson for PiS, Radosław Fogiel, in an interview with Beata Michniewicz on Radio Trójka.

"As of yet, no such invitation has been extended by either side. I know that the President does not currently have such a meeting [with Krzysztof Bosak] on his calendar, but of course, nothing can be ruled out," said PiS Deputy Spokesperson Radosław Fogiel on Polish Radio Programme III.

The Ministry of Health has reported 259 new cases of coronavirus infection in Poland. Of these, 80 cases were registered in the Silesian Voivodeship. The ministry also announced that 15 people have died due to COVID-19.

"Unfortunately, President Andrzej Duda is afraid to come to the debate. It's a shame. Yesterday, the debate was supposed to take place. I waited patiently for this debate to happen, for the opportunity to ask questions of the President, so that it wouldn't be just one television station setting up a staged event, so that it wouldn't be just the President's rally, but a real debate. Unfortunately, the President did not come," said Rafał Trzaskowski, candidate for President from the Civic Coalition and Mayor of Warsaw, in Skierniewice.

„I have questions from television [TVP] regarding 500+, retirement age. I have spoken about this many times and I will repeat it once more. 500+ is safe, the retirement age will not be raised. This has long been settled. I will say more. Enough of fruitless disputes. Donald Tusk is no longer in Polish politics, and today the time has come for Jarosław Kaczyński to also be out of Polish politics” – said Rafał Trzaskowski, candidate of Civic Coalition for president and mayor of the capital city of Warsaw, in Skierniewice.

"I want to say to Władek Kosiniak-Kamysz that pensions should be tax-free. Yes, I will talk. I want to say to Kosiniak-Kamysz that I am ready to talk about the referendum day. Let's talk details. I am ready to talk about ZUS. Let's talk details" - said Rafał Trzaskowski, the Civic Coalition candidate for president and the mayor of the capital city of Warsaw, in Skierniewice.

- The Polish presidency of the Visegrad Group, which is just beginning, is guided by the motto "Back on Track." I thank the esteemed Prime Ministers for their presence and hope that the coming year will be marked by excellent cooperation and constructive efforts from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, and Poland - said President Andrzej Duda during his speech inaugurating Poland's chairmanship of the Visegrad Group.

- Especially the last few years have shown that when we act together and have strong arguments, we can decisively influence the European consensus, even against the will of those who seem the strongest. This was the case, for example, with the issue of mandatory relocation of refugees. In this matter, as the Visegrad Group, we achieved success because our position prevailed in EU decisions. This happened because we maintained our cohesion and assertiveness, despite the immense pressure exerted on us. We were right from the very beginning on this issue and we had the courage to present that right in a decisive manner, and this is our great value - said President Andrzej Duda during the inaugural address of Poland's presidency in the Visegrad Group. 

- Since some in the European Union now want to return to the already closed discussion, I would like to clearly reiterate our position from this platform. It is based on common sense, responsibility, and listening to the opinions of our societies. I believe that in the era of a recurring migration crisis, our primary task is, firstly, to guarantee the safety of our citizens by ensuring the security of Europe's borders and the borders of our states. Secondly, to provide assistance in the places of conflict and problems that are the direct source of migration. Thirdly, to seek peaceful solutions to wars or food shortages, which are the primary causes of most migration waves, exploited by criminal networks involved in human trafficking. I want to say clearly that the concept of mandatory relocation fulfills none of these tasks. It solely deepens problems and leads to even greater oppressiveness of European policy, forcing people to move and settle against their will and against the will of the receiving countries, and in particular their societies - added the president.

„Courts, guardians, and I, as Prosecutor General, taking a stance on this matter, the President – we all unanimously agreed that the will of these women, their request, must be respected. It was an act of grace applied to them, at their request, at their wish, to make their lives easier, to respect the fact that they rebuilt certain family relationships, that the person returned to normal functioning. Meanwhile, there are those who abuse these victims, these women. Unfortunately, the election staff of Mr. President Trzaskowski is doing this, and President Trzaskowski himself is participating in it. I ask women's organizations that speak so beautifully about violence against women, what is this, if not violence against these women?” - said Minister Zbigniew Ziobro.

„The campaign of one of the candidates is falsely presenting this story to harm President Duda, who acted nobly in this matter” - he added. 

- It is high time that in our legal system, and above all in the educational system, in line with the expectations repeatedly expressed by parents, especially concerning various types of activities they deem dangerous for their children, which we have encountered in many places across our country, that parents' right to raise their children in accordance with their own beliefs, and thus parents' right to decide what content will be conveyed to children, for example, in school, is finally realized and legally guaranteed. Therefore, I am submitting a legislative initiative, a presidential draft amendment to the Law on Education, which unequivocally stipulates that the activities of any non-governmental organizations and associations conducted on school premises require not only the consent of the school principal and the school council, but above all, require the consent of parents. Such an organization, wishing to operate on school grounds, whether by conducting extracurricular activities or any other activity for or with children, or by participating in any subject and leading classes on that subject, or presenting its program or program offer to children, will be obliged to provide parents with full information about what it intends to convey to children, in what format, what the content will cover, who will be delivering it, i.e., with whom the children will have meetings, what their qualifications are, and what they have done so far. This will apply to every organization, generally, regardless of its profile, method of operation, whether it is a youth organization or any other. If it wishes to engage with children in a way that has an educational character or another character but is related to the school, related to the educational activities of the school, it will be obliged to present such information in the form of a synopsis to parents and will only be able to operate once it obtains parental consent - stated President Andrzej Duda in the gardens of the Presidential Palace.

- I am very pleased that this pro-turnout, pro-state initiative has taken such a good turn, that it has been met with such a vibrant response from our citizens at the grassroots level. I won't hide that appetite grows with eating. We want to announce a new edition of the fire truck battle initiative before the second round of presidential elections. We will allocate funds for 49 new, modern fire trucks - said Mariusz Kamiński during the awarding of the 'Battle for Fire Trucks'.

- There was supposed to be a debate, but it seems it will only and exclusively be a virtual debate, because a second podium has accompanied us all along, because it's worth not being afraid, Mr. President. It's worth debating, and unfortunately, Mr. President, you are not here today. Indeed, it is true that today a debate is needed, only a real debate, not another setup, but a debate about Poland's real problems, and that's why I keep inviting the president. This podium will stand every time, in different places in Poland, so that we can talk about what truly interests us - stated Rafał Trzaskowski in Zgierz.

„Today marks a symbolic transfer of the presidency to Poland within the Visegrad Group - encompassing all the issues that are currently gaining momentum, as well as those that require further work. This includes both current matters and the vision associated with the Visegrad Group becoming an increasingly significant entity across Europe. Our partners are taking notice,” said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki at a press conference following the V4 leaders' meeting. 

Donald Tusk is no longer in Polish politics. So maybe it's time Jarosław Kaczyński is also out of Polish politics. There's just one problem. If Jarosław Kaczyński is out of Polish politics, who will President Duda listen to then? Who will teach us what the Polish family should look like? Who will teach us what patriotism should look like? Well, unfortunately, then the podium will truly be completely empty, won't it? And that's why, once again: let's debate – stated Rafał Trzaskowski in Zgierz.

- If you ask me if there are things I didn't like during the years when Civic Platform was in power, I can clearly say: yes, there are things where the diagnosis was different, more accurate, suggesting that people want to feel money in their pockets, not just hear about modernization efforts. And I acknowledge that. I never liked the statement about needing warm water from the tap, until it turned out that today's government can manage to cause a complete lack of water in the tap in some towns, not far from here, by the way. But I am clearly able to discuss this and I have the courage to discuss what we have managed to achieve in the last 30 years, what we haven't achieved, and how to improve it – stated Rafał Trzaskowski in Zgierz.

- The government is hiding something all the time. Have you wondered why they were in such a hurry to organize elections? Why do they always have such serious faces and never smile? It's because they are hiding something from us. This Morawiecki deficit is growing larger. Inflation – look at what's happening. Suddenly it turns out that GUS (Statistics Poland) has stopped publishing the price basket. Because they are simply afraid of comparisons. It turns out that even they are talking about it, rumors are reaching us that they probably won't cope with the difficult situation. We're hearing whispers that they want to raise taxes – stated Rafał Trzaskowski in Zgierz.

- Today, I also declare that yes, I am ready to discuss a new electoral system, a mixed electoral system, which is of great interest to many, primarily social activists in Poland, and today we need to talk about the program. That's the difference - stated Rafał Trzaskowski in Zgierz.

- Today is a day when, first and foremost, and in the coming days, we will talk about the next step, about positive things, about community, because enough of these quarrels - stated Rafał Trzaskowski in Zgierz.

There was a physical attack on a Member of Parliament, on the Deputy Minister of Justice, Mr. Kaleta, which in my opinion constitutes a prohibited act under Article 191 § 1. Therefore, I have decided today to file a complaint with the prosecutor's office regarding the potential commission of a crime by MP Nitras yesterday. This is another scandalous behavior, and I expect an apology from Rafał Trzaskowski, as I was also prevented from participating in the handover or press conference of a facility that is also financed by the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (NFOŚ). I am the Deputy Minister of Climate, who oversees NFOŚ. And I expect Sławomir Nitras to be expelled from the Civic Platform's (PO) staff and from the entire party, because there is no tolerance for this type of behavior, for aggression – stated Jacek Ozdoba at a press briefing.

- I also want to clearly state that one of my first decisions will be to lower VAT rates by one percent. Today, we must do absolutely everything possible to stimulate the economy, to stimulate consumption, but above all to fight for every job - said Rafał Trzaskowski during a press briefing in Łódź.

It is not a debate to attempt to disrupt a press conference. If two ministers take their job seriously, first of all, they should be working during their working hours, because that's what citizens pay them for, not to arrive in ministerial cars at a critical infrastructure facility where they have no right of entry, because these facilities are protected, and to push their way past security, and then try to enter a press conference solely for the purpose of disrupting it - said Rafał Trzaskowski during a press briefing in Łódź. If they want to talk to me, they should call my secretariat or call me and arrange a meeting, not behave like children - added the Mayor of Warsaw.

- This is a very disturbing incident. However, I spoke with the woman who was the victim of this incident, and her attitude impresses me greatly because she decided to talk to the person who was tearing down the posters. That person was extremely agitated. Agitated by the lies of public television. This person apologized to the woman. He said that, indeed, his nerves were frayed, probably from watching all those lies and manipulations. Of course, such offenses are prosecuted ex officio, but if it were possible to resolve this through reconciliation, if that person apologized and truly admitted that the threats were not serious, then I think it would be a very good example for all of us – said Rafał Trzaskowski during a press briefing in Łódź.

We would like to appeal for a restraint of emotions and, above all, for Rafał Trzaskowski to dismiss the services of Sławomir Nitras, who has been known for his immense aggression in public life for many years. His actions are a denial of parliamentary principles - stated Jan Kanthak at a press briefing. We appeal to Rafał Trzaskowski to dismiss Sławomir Nitras from his services, to distance himself from these kinds of practices. We have the impression that Sławomir Nitras has overdosed, has overdosed on this campaign. This campaign is clearly dragging on too long for him, he is tired and overcome by emotions. The best remedy for an overdose is to remove Nitras from the campaign - he continued.

- Today we have another round of German attack in this election. A ruthless, dirty campaign, this time directed against me. You have all seen it. I regret this, but it is what it is. I am prepared to be brutally, falsely, and slanderously attacked - stated President Andrzej Duda in Bolesławiec.

- But I want you to know one thing. In reality, it is the family that is harmed. The family is harmed. Because I helped the family, it was because the family asked me for help and the family turned to me for that help. This man served his full prison sentence, he served his entire sentence. But the family wrote that the fact they could not meet him was actually a punishment for them, because a restraining order had been issued, and they asked me to lift this restraining order. They asked me because they said they had reconciled, that they were a true family again, that this man regretted what he had done, that he had repeatedly repented and apologized, that he had served his prison sentence, he had suffered for it, and now they no longer want to suffer and they are asking me to take pity on them. And I did so, because such was also the opinion of the Prosecutor General, the courts, the probation officer, all those who commented on this matter - stated President Andrzej Duda in Bolesławiec.

- And today, this slanderous attack is simply disgraceful, it's a dirty campaign of the worst kind. Why? What is happening? Does this concern, Axel Springer of German origin, which owns the 'Fakt' newspaper, want to influence the presidential election in Poland? Yes? Do Germans want to choose the president in Poland? That is disgraceful. I will not agree to this - stated President Andrzej Duda in Bolesławiec.

- I will always champion families and their right to self-determination. I will always defend the family and its right to raise children according to its own beliefs. You can be sure of that. No matter the worst slander thrown at me. I want one thing. I want honesty to prevail in Poland, not cynicism and villainy. I want Poland to be able to defend the weak, not to fear the strong. Yes, they think that Poland will fear the strong. They think that cynicism and villainy will ultimately prevail in Poland. No, ladies and gentlemen. Let us prove that cynicism and villainy will not prevail in Poland. And that Poland does not fear the strong, because it is strong, because it is strong with our spirit, because this is Poland - stated President Andrzej Duda in Bolesławiec. 

I am happy to be here with you in Łódź. I met with women today, here in Łódź, Przasnysz and Skierniewice. Fantastic and active women. They all say the same thing: we want our problems to be noticed. That is why I intend to become a spokesperson for women, because I want our voice to be heard, because there is strength in us women – said Małgorzata Trzaskowska in Łódź.

“Mr. President, there is nothing to fear today, and above all, nothing to divide Polish women and men. Because you speak of ‘Warsaw-folk,’ you speak of ‘Krakow-folk,’ and you constantly try to divide us. And we will not be divided. We will not be insulted. We have had enough of dividing Polish women and men. To all of this, we must respond with a very original rallying cry, which is becoming increasingly original, namely: we have had enough,” said Rafał Trzaskowski in Łódź.

“The Warsaw correspondent for Die Welt reported that Mr. Trzaskowski would be a better president for Germany because he is against Poland seeking reparations from Germany, against Poland demanding compensation, reparations for World War II, for the destruction that was then caused” - said President Andrzej Duda in Bolesławiec. 

- The President is speaking today, listen, about what? He is speaking about education. The President has the audacity to speak about education at a time when his political party is trying to destroy it - Rafał Trzaskowski said in Łódź.

I have such a list here. I am writing down exactly these, all these questions that Polish women and men are asking at all these meetings. Today I wrote down a few. So, Mr. President, if we are talking about courage, if you will truly answer questions in Końskie on Monday, then I have written down these questions from citizens. Who is driving a million electric cars, which you were supposed to produce? Mr. President, where are the ferries from the Szczecin shipyard sailing, which you were supposed to launch? Where are the helicopters you were supposed to buy for the Polish army? Who lives in 100,000 apartments you were supposed to build? Who is driving on the bypasses of Polish cities, there were supposed to be so many bypasses? Where are half a billion trees growing, which you were supposed to plant? Finally, where is that national agreement and community you spoke of? - said Rafał Trzaskowski in Łódź.

Today it's worth discussing, because indeed, for once, television [in the context of TVP] asked a sensible question. Namely, they asked me about product prices, because they thought that I, like the President of the Republic of Poland, like Mr. President Kaczyński, don't do my own shopping. Well, dear viewers, I do my own shopping. And I know exactly how much milk has gone up, almost 10% in these recent years. How much fruits and vegetables have risen, how much ham has risen, how much butter has risen, they even asked me about butter. Over 40%. Today, a stick of butter can cost 6 or 7 PLN – said Rafał Trzaskowski in Łódź.

- The President's Chancellery should be open to everyone. It should be apolitical. I declare today that I will talk with all political parties, but not only that, I will talk with all my competitors, I will talk with all social activists, I will seek advice as broadly as possible, and my chancellery will be open to everyone. Everyone who wishes to cooperate with me will, just like I will, surrender their party membership card - said Rafał Trzaskowski in Łódź.

- There is no question of attempting to politicize the police, whom I greet from here today. Thank you for, during these difficult times, striving to remain apolitical, for being here and taking care of our security. Thank you very much - said Rafał Trzaskowski in Łódź.

- I spoke with Mr. Jacek, who spent many, many years in the army, and he told me today that what is happening in the army, these pressures, this politicization – we must put an end to it. From this place, I want to greet all Polish soldiers, officers, generals; thank you for striving to be apolitical. Especially, as he asked, I want to greet all special forces - he added.
