Trzaskowski Hits the Road as PO Launches "Silent President" Information Campaign: Platform Official Says Instead of Strong Presidency Controlling Power, We Have a White Flag Over the Presidential Palace

"The President does not speak out on the most important issues facing the country, he does not intervene when the law is broken, when promises are not kept by the government, he does not react, he stays silent when something bad happens" – says one of Rafał Trzaskowski's main campaign strategists regarding the new direction of the KO candidate's campaign. This will be complemented by a Platform information campaign, which will include a mini-spot, a still from which 300POLITYKA is showing first.

As part of his tour, Rafał Trzaskowski will meet with local government officials today: at 9:30 AM, Rafał Trzaskowski will meet with the mayor of Solec Kujawski, Teresa Substyk. At 10:15 AM, a press briefing will be held with the participation of the mayor of Solec Kujawski, Teresa Substyk, and the president of Bydgoszcz, Rafał Bruski. A meeting with mayors of municipalities from Central Pomerania is planned for 2:15 PM, followed by a press briefing at 3:40 PM.

"Instead of a strong presidency that controls the government, we have a white flag over the Presidential Palace. Instead of a resounding voice that would show Poles the way, we have a regrettable silence. The President cannot remain silent when censorship is applied in Polish radio, when protesting entrepreneurs are dispersed, when public television breaks all its rules while simultaneously awarding itself gigantic salaries. The President cannot remain silent when serious accusations are leveled against the Minister of Health, and the prosecution service is politicized" – adds the PO politician, explaining the latest narrative of the Platform and its candidate, which will be supported by an intensive information campaign.

Dworczyk on June 28 Elections: The Last Date for Presidential Elections to Conclude Constitutionally, but the Sejm Marshal Decides

- We would like the [presidential election] date to be June 28. This is the last date when elections can be held in such a way that the entire process related to the presidential election concludes within the constitutional deadline, but of course, the decision in this matter is made by the Marshal of the Sejm, in this case Elżbieta Witek – stated Michał Dworczyk in an interview with Krzysztof Skórzyński on TVN24's "Jeden na jeden".

- All those who would like to adhere to constitutional deadlines in this difficult situation, an epidemic and extraordinary situation caused by the epidemic, and who are aware of the calendar resulting from the regulations, all people aware of the calendar resulting from the regulations point to this date as the last one on which elections can be held so that we maintain a certain continuity, so that a new president is elected after August 6 – continued the head of the Chancellery of the Prime Minister.

08:11

Hołownia:

I am Clearly the Stronger Contender Against Duda. Trzaskowski Will Likely Score Well in the First Round, But Lose in the Second

- I am clearly the stronger contender against Andrzej Duda. Rafał Trzaskowski will likely score well in the first [round], but will lose in the second. This is a deal that, in presidential elections, voters probably won't find very beneficial – said Szymon Hołownia in an interview with Piotr Witwicki on Polsat News' "Graffiti".

08:17

Dworczyk on PKW Resolution: We Are Still Conducting Related Analyses, and the Resolution Will Likely Be Published Soon

- We are currently conducting some related analyses, and the [PKW] resolution will likely be published soon - stated Michał Dworczyk in "Jeden na jeden" on TVN24.

08:22

Hołownia:

There are no copyrights in politics. I am very pleased that in what Trzaskowski says, I find many ideas I've been expressing for the last six months
- For half a year, I've been in this campaign, and in this time, coming from a background and profession where copyrights are sacred, I've learned that in politics, copyrights don't exist. You can say something today, and the next day you turn on the TV and someone is repeating your words 1:1 at a press conference. I am very pleased that in what Rafał Trzaskowski says, I find many ideas that I have been expressing for the last six months - said Szymon Hołownia in Polsat News.

08:24

Szumowski:

We Flattened the Epidemic Curve, So It's Falling a Bit Slower, But Fewer People Also Died

People are wondering why the epidemic curve is falling so slowly in Poland? Because it is falling, but very slowly, due to the fact that elsewhere it rose dramatically quickly, we had a dramatically high number of people who died, who were ill, and then it also falls faster. We flattened the curve, so it's falling a bit slower, but fewer people also died” - said Minister Łukasz Szumowski in an interview with Beata Michniewicz on Radio Trójka.

08:26

Dworczyk:

The Sooner the Bill is Passed, With or Without Amendments, the Sooner the Election Calendar Can Be Announced, Allowing More Time for Signature Collection

- This is also a question, or perhaps primarily a question, for Marshal Grodzki, because the sooner the bill [on presidential elections] is passed, whether with amendments or without amendments, that’s a separate matter, I don’t want to touch on it now, the sooner the election calendar can be announced, the more time there will be, among other things, for collecting signatures. Yesterday, the rapporteur MP Czarnek explained this very clearly and lucidly – stated Michał Dworczyk on TVN24’s „Jeden na jeden”.

08:28

Szumowski:

I haven't found a single fact suggesting I did anything unlawful, or that my brother did anything unlawful

I haven't found a single fact suggesting I did anything unlawful, or that my brother did anything unlawful. It is a hodgepodge of insinuations and half-truths,” Minister Łukasz Szumowski said on Radio Trójka.

08:35

Dworczyk:

We are determined for PAD to renew his mandate and continue his presidency, as cooperation between the president and the government, especially visible in these difficult times of the pandemic, is incredibly important.

- We, of course, support President Andrzej Duda. We are determined for him to renew his mandate and continue his presidency, because cooperation between the president and the government, which is particularly evident in these difficult times, during the pandemic, is incredibly important. It is important from the perspective of the state functioning well - stated Michał Dworczyk in "Jeden na jeden" on TVN24.

- Of course, we approach the entire electoral process and all polls with humility, and naturally, after this peculiar restart of the situation, which is unusual for an electoral process, after such a restart of the campaign, of course, President Duda's entire team, and all of us, will make every effort to convince people of the program that the president presents - continued the Head of the Chancellery of the Prime Minister.

#ApologizeSzymon - Civic Platform MPs Appeal to Hołownia to Retract Remarks About a "Corpse," Insulting to Kidawa

In yesterday's "Kropka nad I," Szymon Hołownia discussed how Rafał Trzaskowski's entry into the race would allow him to prove the durability of his campaign. "My proposal will be all the clearer, and no one will be able to accuse me that my campaign is the way it is because it owes it to Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska's campaign," he said during the evening program. Today, Monika Wielichowska, a close associate of Kidawa and a Civic Platform MP, reacted to this:

And Rafał Trzaskowski's close associate, one of the architects of the Civic Platform's campaign:

Kazik Staszewski: Kaczyński's Cemetery Visit Deeply Moved Me, and Not Just Me. I Felt That Regardless of Political Affiliation, Everyone Perceived a Major Gaffe in Such Behavior. I Had to Write a Song About It

The lyrics are current, but I don't see them as political. All the lyrics are very current and written in the last two months. An event that greatly outraged me couldn't be absent, namely President Kaczyński's visit to the cemetery. It was something that deeply moved me, and not just me. At that moment, I got the impression that regardless of political affiliation, everyone perceived a major gaffe in this type of behavior. I saw with my own eyes on public television, how Rafał Ziemkiewicz and Stanisław Janecki, responding to a viewer who declared himself a PiS supporter, said that it was highly inappropriate. Ziemkiewicz smiled and nodded. Janecki denied it. Piotr Zaremba wrote that it is absolutely something to be condemned. I had to... Did anyone think such behavior would go unnoticed? I had to write a song about it” - said Kazik Staszewski in an interview with Robert Mazurek on RMF FM.

09:28

Kazik Staszewski Asked if He'll Vote for an Opposition Candidate: 'Maybe. I'll Vote Randomly, Because None of Them Are Suitable at All. It's Not Good for All Centers of Power to Be in One Hand.'

It's not good for all centers of power to be in one hand” - said Kazik Staszewski on RMF FM.

Asked if this was a declaration that he would vote for an opposition candidate, Staszewski replied: „Maybe. I'll vote randomly, because none of them are suitable at all”.

09:32

Kazik Staszewski: "I Don't Feel Like a Victim of Anything. Thanks for the Support, but Frankly, I Don't Need It"

I don't feel like a victim of anything at all. I am very grateful for the support from musicians, journalists, and politicians, but honestly speaking, I don't need such support, because I received two calls from two Trójka journalists who recently left, and they were words of thanks, because, and I'll quote one of them, 'Your song allowed me to see clearly and quit this program'. Besides, they are giving me publicity that I would have to spend millions of zlotys on, and I don't have that much” - said Kazik Staszewski on RMF FM.

09:48

Lubnauer:

A Vote of No Confidence for Szumowski is Certain

- A motion of no confidence [for Szumowski] will certainly be filed. However, I wanted to say one thing. First and foremost, I would expect the CBA to investigate his assets. I find the situation outrageous where a politician hides behind a separation of property, transferring all his income, and his entire fortune to his wife - Katarzyna Lubnauer said in an interview with Jacek Prusinowski on Radio Plus's "Sedno Sprawy" (The Core of the Matter).

09:52

Kosiniak-Kamysz:

Just as PAD is on TVP Info from dawn till dusk, so is Trzaskowski on TVN24. That's just how it looks.
There are many obstacles being thrown in our way right now. There's an attempt at media elimination, media omission. Yes, yes [of me]. Here, perhaps, just as TVP Info features Andrzej Duda from dawn till dusk, if we were to look at the last few days on TVN24, then Rafał Trzaskowski is there from dawn till dusk. That's just how it looks. I'm not offended by it. I will do my own thing - stated Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz in a conversation with Marcin Fijołek on the "Poranek Siódma9" program.

09:55

Kosiniak-Kamysz:

Trzaskowski's Candidacy is More of a Rescue Operation for Civic Platform Than a Bid to Win the Election

- In my opinion, Rafał Trzaskowski's candidacy is more of a rescue operation for Civic Platform than a desire to win the election. If they wanted Rafał Trzaskowski to be president, and Rafał Trzaskowski wanted to be the President of the Republic of Poland, he would have run in the Civic Platform primaries and would have been the candidate since December, because I believe he would have simply won those primaries. However, there was no such determination in him then, nor in Civic Platform to put him forward - stated Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz on the Siódma9 Morning program.

09:58

Lubnauer:

Hołownia's Biggest Grievances Are Towards Kidawa-Błońska, He's Even Willing to Insult Her. We Shouldn't Turn into a Female Boxer

- Rafał Trzaskowski has not only entered the top league of presidential candidates very strongly, quickly rising to second place. He has also generated considerable fear, and let's note that this fear is on the side of all his rivals - Katarzyna Lubnauer said on Radio Plus.

- For example, I have the impression that Mr. Hołownia has the biggest grievances towards Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska, because he is even willing to insult her. What was shown yesterday on one of the TV programs crosses certain boundaries of civil politics and the issue that I believe we should not turn into a female boxer in Poland - she added.

10:03

Lubnauer:

The Worst Thing Is to Persist in Error. Kidawa-Błońska Realized It Will Be Difficult to Reclaim Early Campaign Support

- All politics says that the worst thing is to persist in error. Sometimes you can change something, but sticking to solutions that are clearly irrational, or at least not yielding the expected results, makes no sense. Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska also understood this; she realized it would be difficult for her to reclaim that support from the beginning of the campaign – said Katarzyna Lubnauer on Radio Plus.

PiS Politicians Intervene at Warsaw City Hall:

They're Trying to Catch Trzaskowski at Work.

- MPs Przemysław Czarnek, Kacper Płażyński, Paweł Lisiecki, and Councillor Michał Szpądrowski during a parliamentary intervention at Warsaw City Hall attempting to find Rafał Trzaskowski at work – wrote PiS MP Paweł Lisiecki on Twitter.

- We are here for an intervention, but it's already past 8 o'clock, the President's doors are closed, the secretariat isn't working. A silent president. Entrepreneurs are waiting for money, and the President isn't here, the secretariat isn't here. How are these entrepreneurs supposed to get these micro-loans? We wanted to ask about this, but as you can see, City Hall isn't functioning. Election campaign – says Przemysław Czarnek in the recording.

10:33

Kosiniak-Kamysz:

The Further from Warsaw, the Harder it Will Be for Trzaskowski
The further from Warsaw, the harder it will be for Rafał Trzaskowski. He is, however, very strongly associated with big-city politics. However, worldview-wise, consider those symbolic decisions, like the absence from the pre-Christmas holiday meeting with the priest at the city hall, probably for the first time. These have a very strong impact on provincial, local Poland, and smaller towns. Also, an understanding of the problems of the people living there is probably not so widespread for Rafał Trzaskowski, with all due respect, because we shouldn't deny him his abilities and skills. But I have traveled through all these towns, I've been to thousands of meetings. This cannot be made up in 4 weeks – stated Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz in Poranek Siódma9.

11:24

Trzaskowski:

A Psychological Barrier Has Certainly Been Broken – Andrzej Duda Below 40% in Polls

A psychological barrier has certainly been broken [that Andrzej Duda is below 40% in polls], because everyone is only now able to assess a presidency in crisis. At a time when everything is going well, Poland is developing well, then such a model of a silent presidency, where the president takes no initiatives and merely celebrates their function, calms everyone down and generally speaking, no one asks difficult questions. However, today, in a moment of crisis, an active presidency is needed. I think that over these last weeks and months, Poles have started asking themselves why the president is solely and exclusively a president who is merely a silent witness to events,” said KO presidential candidate and Mayor of Warsaw, Rafał Trzaskowski, at a press conference in Solec Kujawski.

11:28

Trzaskowski:

I Received a Signal That PSL MPs Are Ready to Collect Signatures for Me Too. This is Immense Class, for Which I Wanted to Sincerely Thank Them

I wanted to thank them very much, because today I also received a signal from the PSL that PSL MPs are ready to collect signatures for me too, because for them the most important thing is respect for democracy, and they will not allow anyone to make a mockery of democracy. This is precisely the immense class of PSL MPs, for which I wanted to sincerely thank them” – said Rafał Trzaskowski, KO's presidential candidate and Mayor of Warsaw, at a press conference in Solec Kujawski.

11:29

Grodzki:

If I Were to Predict, I Would Convene the Senate as Soon as Committees are Ready, and I Want Others to Work Quickly Too, Because I Remind You the National Electoral Commission's Announcement Has Not Been Published

- If I were to predict, I would convene a [Senate session on the presidential election bill] as soon as the committees are ready, and I would like others to work quickly too, because I remind you that the National Electoral Commission's (PKW) announcement has not yet been published, for reasons incomprehensible to me, and Marshal Witek is not announcing the election date, which should also take place. We will work intensively and as quickly as possible - stated Tomasz Grodzki in a conversation with journalists.

11:29

Grodzki on the Pedophilia Commission: In the Senate, Just Like in the Sejm, It Requires a Change of Rules, and These Rules Will Be Changed. Such a Person Must Obtain 3/5 of the Votes. This Means It Must Be a Compromise Candidate

- Of course, the Senate has this plan [to appoint a member of the so-called pedophilia commission] and, what's more, has already started working on it. Because in the Senate, just like in the Sejm, it requires a change of rules, and these rules will be changed. At least on this point, although we are preparing a more comprehensive change of rules. Besides, please remember that the conditions for a potential member of this commission are very high. Such a person must have a specific status, titles, and these conditions were changed in one of the COVID shields. Furthermore, which is a significant limitation, they cannot work anywhere else, except for scientific work, which is difficult for many outstanding people. They cannot conduct business activities, and most importantly, they must obtain 3/5 of the votes in the Sejm and the Senate, and this is important. In the Senate, this means 60 people. This means it must be a compromise candidate, acceptable to all political groupings, and choosing such a person, and some people have already refused us, because we have had such conversations, is not really easy, and we are appointing this commission for 7 years. So the decision must be absolutely responsible and balanced - stated Tomasz Grodzki in a conversation with journalists.

Civic Coalition Presents Trzaskowski's Ad About the 'Silent President'; Gasiuk-Pihowicz: Poland Needs a President Who Will Put the Little Corporal from Żoliborz in His Place

The president should be the one controlling the actions of the current government, and today it is the people of the current authorities who control the president’s actions. We need a strong, decisive, responsible president. The president should be a person who clearly and precisely formulates their opinion, not someone who repeats the daily party message. Today, at the Presidential Palace, there is a man who, until he receives a call from Nowogrodzka Street, effectively has nothing to say. Today, President Andrzej Duda behaves towards Jarosław Kaczyński like a private soldier towards a corporal. He puffs himself up, he practically stands at attention, and we need, Poland needs, a president who will put that little corporal from Żoliborz in his place” - said Kamila Gasiuk-Pihowicz from the Civic Coalition at a press conference.

We need a strong president. Not a president who shines on TikTok or battles the sharp shadow of fog in hip-hop contests. We need a resounding voice that will show Poles the direction. We need a president who will not be afraid of the independence of the prosecution. Andrzej Duda’s silence says much more about his presidency than many of his speeches” - added Michał Gramatyka.

At the press conference, the politicians also presented a new election spot, which 300POLITYKA wrote about this morning.

12:23

Morawiecki:

Szumowski Deserves the Highest Honor Imaginable for Enabling Our Soundest Decisions

- Minister Szumowski deserves the highest honor I can imagine, because it was precisely his actions that allowed us to make the most sensible decisions. Thank you very much, Minister Szumowski. It was when the whole world was facing a great challenge that his composure, self-control, knowledge of the subject, and his gigantic work ethic led to us, along with sanitary services, other services, including economic and financial ones, being able to make the most appropriate decisions that were necessary at the time to, on the one hand, respect and protect human life and health, and on the other hand, to already begin working on saving the Polish economy from the very difficult situation it found itself in during March and April. We see what is happening in France, Spain, Belgium, or even in Sweden or Great Britain. In the richest countries in the world, one could say, these richest countries could not cope with the coronavirus epidemic, with the pandemic, in the way we did. Thank you very much to the Minister of Health for such excellent action, for the decisions we jointly made to protect Poles – stated Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki at a press conference at the ELSIT company in Gliwice.

12:35

PM:

Unfreezing Air Traffic Will Occur in the Coming Months
  • For airlines and airports, we will be preparing assistance, and for airports or companies involved with airports, we have already prepared and had passed in the Sejm, by means of a law, aid for these very difficult times – stated Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki at a press briefing at the ELSIT company in Gliwice.
  • The unfreezing of air traffic will occur in the coming months. We are currently debating this with experts dealing with both air traffic and epidemiologists, because previously we had a series of examples where it was enough for one passenger on a plane to be sick with coronavirus, and then the disease would spread very quickly from one person to another. We want to prevent this. Unfortunately, we still hear about certain outbreaks appearing in various places in Poland. We do not want citizens of other countries to arrive who would create such disease hotspots. Therefore, we are working on appropriate procedures and protocols that will allow for the restoration of traffic, likely domestic traffic within the Republic of Poland first, and then increasingly wider international traffic. This is happening gradually, in consultation with infectious disease specialists. We are also observing what other countries are doing, but we are making the decisions most appropriate for Poland – he continued.

12:45

Morawiecki:

Working Constructively with the President for Poland's Well-being During Difficult Times

- I believe that President Andrzej Duda, with whom I cooperate very closely on the financial and anti-crisis shield, and to whom we owe so much, both in terms of social policy, i.e., the defense of 500+, our great social solidarity contribution, family-oriented, additional pensions, 13th [pension], that all of this, which happened thanks to Mr. President, will also be a very important reason for making decisions that all Poles will soon be making, this past where we benefited from the fact that public finances were largely balanced, and we were able to commit a lot of resources to Polish society. Today we are in a new reality, and this cooperation, as I said yesterday, cooperation like a monolith, we should all cooperate together, the Sejm, the Senate, unfortunately, it's different with the Senate, the President and the government, and the fact that this cooperation is going so well today is a necessary condition for us to continue to emerge from this crisis in a better way than many other, much richer countries than ours, as we see happening today in Western Europe. So I am very pleased that we are working together with the President in such a constructive, yet very positive way for the good of Poland, so that Poland can emerge victorious, get through this very difficult time, a difficult period, as smoothly as possible - stated Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki at a press briefing at the ELSIT company in Gliwice.

PMM at "Elsit" in Gliwice: Good News Again, Not Only Did We Manage to Keep Jobs, But Perhaps in Subsequent Periods This Year, New People Can Also Be Hired

- Here I had the opportunity to observe production in another company, and again, good news that not only the creator and the president here managed to keep jobs, but I heard that perhaps in subsequent periods this year, new people can also be hired. This is exactly what we are aiming for, to change this entire economic landscape to Poland's benefit - stated Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki at a press briefing at the ELSIT company in Gliwice, adding that they are managing to acquire new markets because Polish quality is increasingly valued.

- Today, I see that we are slowly getting back on track, that we will be able to return to the path of development and growth - PMM continued.

Civic Coalition Submits Bill for 500+ Holiday Voucher for Families to Boost Domestic Tourism

"The Civic Coalition parliamentary club is submitting a legislative initiative that fits into the new solidarity program, a grand program to support the Polish economy. Today, we are proposing real solutions not only for the tourism industry but also for Polish families. We are proposing a voucher, a kind of 500+ for tourism, for Polish families, inclusive of everyone, which will give a breath of fresh air to Polish tourism businesses, but also, in the spirit of solidarity and community, allow Polish families to spend their holidays in Poland" - said PO (Civic Platform) leader Borys Budka in Krakow.

Kamiński:

The Right to Unfettered Political Expression, Including Political Manifestations, is a Sacred Right of Every Citizen. There is No Question, Intention, or Discussion of Permanently Limiting Civil Rights in This Regard

- Accusations have recently appeared in the public sphere that the government, for political reasons, intends to permanently restrict civil rights concerning the freedom of assembly and the manifestation of one's views. I want to state unequivocally on behalf of the government and the political group I represent, which is PiS, that the right to unfettered political expression, including political manifestations, is a sacred right of every citizen. There is absolutely no question, intention, or discussion of permanently limiting civil rights in this regard. Only epidemic considerations are the reason for this temporary ban – stated Mariusz Kamiński at a press conference.

14:06

Morawiecki on Opole Silesia: "The logic of the heart was different. Every Silesian family that had Poland in its heart then belongs to the pantheon of our heroes."

- Without the Silesian insurgents who fought for independence, for the Republic, 99 years ago here, it can be boldly said, there would be no free Poland. There would be no Poland as it emerged from the rubble after the partitions, after 123 years. The young homeland was subjected to enormous pressure in a very short time, and it was here, in Silesia, Opole Silesia, that various battles took place. Battles as part of the Third Silesian Uprising, exactly 99 years ago. Common sense suggested: stay with the Germans. But the logic of the heart was different. Therefore, every insurgent who took up arms then, every Silesian family that had Poland in its heart then, belongs to the pantheon of our heroes. The pantheon of the founding fathers of our independence. The borders of the Second Polish Republic, as we well know, were not drawn with a pencil on a map, but were drawn with the blood of heroes. Heroes like the Silesian insurgents, who took up arms then and fought for the Polishness of Silesia. The battle remained undecided then, but it decided something fundamental. About the Polishness of Silesia. About the fact that there is no free Second Polish Republic, about the fact that there is no free Republic without Silesia, without Silesian hearts, which then so beautifully declared themselves for Poland - said Mateusz Morawiecki during a media statement in front of the Monument to the Insurgent Deed on St. Anne's Mountain.

Steinmeier Congratulates Polish Authorities on Effective Strategy Mitigating Pandemic's Health Impact. PAD Discusses with German President.
A phone conversation between the Presidents of Poland and Germany lasted for an hour today. This was another in a series of talks President Andrzej Duda has had with foreign partners concerning the future of the economy and European policy in the context of the coronavirus pandemic - informed Krzysztof Szczerski, Head of the Presidential Cabinet, to 300POLITYKA.
"President Steinmeier congratulated the Polish authorities on an effective strategy to limit the health consequences of the pandemic. The Presidents discussed concepts for European cooperation in health security, presented in the President's letter to European leaders, emphasizing the need to strengthen European self-reliance and solidarity in situations of health threats, especially concerning the production of essential protective materials and medical equipment. The Presidents devoted significant attention to economic issues. Both agreed that the key task today is to maintain the financial liquidity of companies and to work towards preserving jobs. To achieve these goals, public support is necessary, as is happening today in both Poland and Germany. Preventing a deep recession in Europe must, in the Presidents' opinion, be supported by initiatives at the EU level. In this context, President Duda conveyed Poland's position on the German-French proposal for a Recovery Fund. Poland responds positively to this proposal, but we believe that the key elements in evaluating this project will be the details concerning financing sources, the principles of fund allocation, and the nature of the aid. Poland is ready to actively engage in developing these details through dialogue with other capitals. The Presidents also discussed the necessity of cooperation within international organizations."

Biedroń Presents "Pact for Culture": Culture Without Censorship, Depoliticized Public Media, Support for Artists, Culture Accessible to All, Artistic Freedom

There are still a lot of fantastic people in public media. They are still holding on. But this pathology cannot be maintained any longer. That is why The Left is proposing its solutions today – the Pact for Culture – said Robert Biedroń during a press conference.

Culture without censorship. Today, censorship has gone so far that the student has surpassed the master. Those who used to work at Mysia [referring to the former headquarters of Polish Radio and Television] could learn from Kurski, from others.

Depoliticized public media. This is something that has not happened since 1989, and we all dream, especially you as journalists, of this freedom. Of not having your spines broken every time a new government comes into power.

Systemic support for artists. Today, it is plainly visible, especially during the coronavirus crisis, how poorly protected this artistic sector is in terms of funding. Today, our MPs from The Left parliamentary club have submitted an interpellation regarding the opening of theaters and museums. The opening of theaters that are waiting for their moment, because artists are not earning there. It is important for us to provide artists with adequate funding.

Culture accessible to all. It must be a culture that is not limited by any muzzle. It cannot be the case that some local government official or politician from the Ministry of Culture decides on the funding of one undertaking or another, guided solely by their own worldview.

Artistic freedom. This means abolishing the issue related to Article 196 of the Penal Code, which concerns the offense of religious feelings. We, as The Left, consistently say that this is one of those muzzles that are always placed on rebellious artists – said the presidential candidate.

Sobolewski after PiS Executive Committee Meeting: We believe June 28th would be the best election date, but it depends on the Marshal's decision

The meeting concerned summing up what has happened so far in the election campaign, because as you know, the campaign is currently on hold until a new election date is announced by the Marshal. We believe that June 28th would be the best, but it depends on the Marshal's decision. One of the points of the Executive Committee meeting was the recommendation made by the chairman [of PiS], regarding the appointment of a new head of PiS youth structures - Mr. Michał Moskal” - said Krzysztof Sobolewski, head of the PiS Executive Committee, at a press conference.

14:44

Sobolewski:

Polls Can Excite Political Scientists or Academics, We're Doing Our Own Thing and Not Looking at Polls

"Polls can excite political scientists or academics, we're doing our own thing and not looking at polls" – said the head of the PiS Executive Committee, Krzysztof Sobolewski, at a press conference.

"Nobody has ever won an election with polls yet. I wasn't excited about the polls when the president had around sixty percent, I'm not excited, nor do I fall into a mood of discouragement or mourning because of the current poll. Today it's like this, tomorrow it's different" – he added.

14:49

Sobolewski:

Sejm Marshal is Also Analyzing the National Electoral Commission's Resolution, but it's Being Verified Due to Allegations of Illegality Raised by the Opposition

[The National Electoral Commission's Resolution] is being analyzed by the Sejm Marshal as well, but it is being checked because there were allegations that it is illegal, and the opposition raised this point. If all expert opinions indicate that there are no contraindications to its publication, then it will be published” - said PiS Executive Committee Chairman Krzysztof Sobolewski at a press conference.

Maląg to Trzaskowski: I appeal to the Mayor to improve actions and speed up procedures for processing loan applications for micro-entrepreneurs

- We are observing the situation in Warsaw with concern, which is a shameful exception on the map of Poland in terms of processing loan applications for micro-entrepreneurs to cover current operating costs. According to our information, the Warsaw Labour Office has so far processed less than 10% of all applications. Meanwhile, the national average is 60%, and many labour offices have nearly 100% application processing rates - wrote Marlena Maląg in a letter to Rafał Trzaskowski.

- I appeal to the Mayor to improve actions and speed up procedures for processing loan applications for micro-entrepreneurs. I remind you that we transfer funds to local governments not only for the benefits themselves but also for the administration of the task - the Minister of Family, Labour and Social Policy continues.

- In this special and difficult time, we should all do our best to support entrepreneurs and protect jobs. This is a great test of responsibility for all of us – the government, the state, and local authorities. Polish companies and employees expect and need our help - Maląg emphasizes.

PM in Wrocław: We've symbolically laid a cornerstone for the construction of an oncology center in the coming years. President Duda is the spiritus movens of various medical initiatives.

- Today we decided to lay, one might say, a symbolic cornerstone for the construction of a center in the next few years, which will undoubtedly be state-of-the-art. This is also part of the National Oncology Strategy, announced by President Andrzej Duda. The President is the spiritus movens, the inspirer of various initiatives in the medical field, in the healthcare sector, but the Lower Silesian Oncology Center is also a pet project of the President - said Mateusz Morawiecki during the ceremony of handing over the notarial deed concerning the transfer of land for the construction of the new Lower Silesian Oncology Center in Wrocław.

Nitras Responds to Szumowski: He's Slyly Hiding Behind His Wife. I Didn't Mention His Wife, Only Him. It Was He Who Hid His Assets 'Through His Wife.' In Former Times, the Prosecutor's Office and Courts Would Be Dealing With Mr. Szumowski
"Mr. Szumowski is slyly hiding behind his wife. I didn't mention his wife, only him. It was he who hid his assets 'through his wife.' In former times, the prosecutor's office and courts would be dealing with Mr. Szumowski. Another Prime Minister would have dismissed him immediately. Another President would not have remained silent in this situation" - this is how Sławomir Nitras responded to the words of the Minister of Health.

Minister Szumowski said in Interia: "If we were in former times, I would have punched Mr. Nitras. I assess Mr. Nitras as a rude and uncultured person. Therefore, in total, it's a waste of energy and time on him."

Zandberg:

The Real Campaign Is Just Beginning

- The real campaign is truly starting now. This is the time when people will have a chance to hear the candidate. To talk with them, to hear about their program. We all know that these past few weeks were not the time for a real election campaign. I think that the course of the campaign will be judged by its results. Today, we are in a strange moment - said Adrian Zandberg in an interview with Marcin Zaborski on RMF FM's "Popołudniowa rozmowa" (Afternoon Conversation).

18:23

Zandberg:

Two Months Ago I Heard Kidawa-Błońska Would Be President. A Month Ago Kosiniak-Kamysz, His Hegemony Also Vanished. Two Weeks Ago Hołownia. Purely By Process of Elimination, Biedroń's Turn is Next
Two months ago, I heard a question about polls that sounded like this: listen, there's no point for Biedroń to run, Mrs. Kidawa-Błońska will be president. She's practically already defeating Andrzej Duda. A month ago, the president was supposed to be Kosiniak-Kamysz, and there's no trace of his hegemony either. Two weeks ago, I heard that Hołownia was the hegemon. Purely by process of elimination, in the coming weeks it's Robert Biedroń's turn - said Adrian Zandberg on RMF FM.

Czarnek on Parliamentary Intervention at Warsaw City Hall: We Received Information That Precisely Confirms What We Expected. This Means Warsaw City Hall Under Trzaskowski's Rule Is Completely Failing to Implement the Anti-Crisis Shield

- The effect [of the morning parliamentary intervention at Warsaw City Hall] is that we have received information that precisely confirms what we expected. This means that Warsaw City Hall under Rafał Trzaskowski's administration is completely failing to implement the anti-crisis shield. Available, especially to the labor office, which is entirely subordinate to Rafał Trzaskowski, Rafał Trzaskowski is the head of the labor office in Warsaw, there are hundreds of millions of zlotys available for entrepreneurs who are waiting for these interest-free loans of 5,000 PLN, which are necessary for them to pay their rents – stated Przemysław Czarnek in an interview with Dorota Gawryluk on Polsat News's "Gość Wydarzeń".

19:47

Czarnek on Poorer Polls for PAD: A Reason to Engage in Intensive Work in the Final Stage of this Two-Phase Campaign. The Second Stage Will Begin When the Election is Called
- This is a reason [for Andrzej Duda's poorer polls] to engage in intensive work in the final stage of this – one might say – two-phase campaign. This second stage will begin when we have the decree for the presidential election, the repeat election. We hope for June, for the end of June. And then, indeed, this campaign will enter its decisive phase - stated Przemysław Czarnek in an interview with Dorota Gawryluk on Polsat News' "Gość Wydarzeń".

Czarnek on Presidential Elections: Opposition Submitted Numerous Constructive Amendments to Our Bill. I Am Convinced We Will Have Concrete Decisions Next Week

- Marshal Witek will announce these [presidential] elections within 14 days of the announcement of the National Electoral Commission's resolution in the Journal of Laws. At the same time, there is also intensive work underway in the Senate, this time on our very good election bill, to which numerous constructive amendments were submitted by the opposition yesterday. I am convinced that next week we will already have concrete decisions - stated Przemysław Czarnek in a conversation with Dorota Gawryluk on Polsat News' "Gość Wydarzeń".

Czarnek:

The May 10th elections didn't happen due to obstruction not only by the Senate, but precisely by these principalities, these local governments, which are trying to assert autonomy within a unified Polish state and have broken the law
I deeply regret [that the presidential elections did not take place on May 10th]. Because if everything had gone as planned, there would be no epidemic, no coronavirus, the economy would be developing excellently, we would have a balanced budget now, which had already been passed, and we would be in a different place. This is completely obvious. However, I regret that the elections on May 10th did not happen due to obstruction not only by the Senate, but precisely by these principalities, these local governments, which are trying to assert autonomy within a unified Polish state, and which have broken the law by not providing the necessary documents for conducting the elections. Rafał Trzaskowski, by the way, confirmed this in his Sunday statement, saying that it was precisely the local governments that boycotted the elections. If we are looking for the culprit who actually prevented Poles from casting their votes on May 10th, within the first constitutional deadline, then Rafał Trzaskowski is the one to ask – stated Przemysław Czarnek in an interview with Dorota Gawryluk on Polsat News's "Gość Wydarzeń".

Paulina Kosiniak-Kamysz on her husband: The tiger is still fired up for the fight. He has no intention of giving up

The tiger is still fired up for the fight. He has no intention of giving up. We will fight just as we have been fighting from the very beginning, until the very end – said Paulina Kosiniak-Kamysz in an interview with Monika Olejnik on TVN24’s “Kropka nad i”.

20:28

Paulina Kosiniak-Kamysz on Agata Kornhauser-Duda: The First Lady Chose the Path of a Silent First Lady, and I Respect That. I See This Role Completely Differently

- I am disappointed, but as I have repeatedly stated since the beginning of the previous campaign, everyone has the right to choose their path. The First Lady has chosen the path of a silent First Lady, and I respect that. I see this role completely differently and I know what kind of First Lady I would like to be – said Paulina Kosiniak-Kamysz on TVN24.

20:33

Paulina Kosiniak-Kamysz: I Remember Maria Kaczyńska's Stance, Who Departed from Political Calculations, Opposed Her Husband, and Spoke Up for Women. Above All, I Would Like to Be That Voice for Women.

- I still remember from my high school years the stance of Mrs. Maria Kaczyńska, who, beyond political divisions, completely departed from political calculations, opposed her husband, and spoke up for women. Above all, I would like to be that voice for women - Paulina Kosiniak-Kamysz said on TVN24.

Paulina Kosiniak-Kamysz on WKK's Statement Regarding the "Eugenics Abortion" Law: My Husband Can and Does Draw Conclusions. He Also Listens to Others, So He Has the Right to Change His Mind.
I know what my husband is like, I know what I am like, and there are also matters on which we don't have to agree at all, and I think this is also the role of the First Lady, who listens to everyone's voice, is an ambassador for the excluded, and listens to the voice of women and the weaker above all - Paulina Kosiniak-Kamysz said on TVN24. - I am asking you about your husband's statement from a few years ago, in an interview for "DGP", where he said he would sign such a law prohibiting so-called, though unfairly, eugenics abortions - the journalist noted. - Of course, the statement is from a few years ago. My husband can and does draw conclusions. He also listens to others, so he also has the right to change his mind - Kosiniak-Kamysz replied.

20:47

Paulina Kosiniak-Kamysz on Same-Sex Marriages: I Think as a Nation We Are Not Yet Ready. If We Are Ready and There is a Strong Societal Response, Why Can't We Decide on Such Matters on Referendum Day

- As of today, I think that as a nation we are not yet ready. First and foremost, we must remember that to legalize homosexual unions, we need a constitutional amendment. I think that if we are ready for it and there is a significant societal response, then why can't we decide on such controversial matters on referendum day - said Paulina Kosiniak-Kamysz on TVN24.

20:50

Paulina Kosiniak-Kamysz: My husband and I experienced that a child is the greatest miracle that can happen to a loving couple. We call for the restoration of in vitro refunds.

- My husband and I experienced that a child is the greatest miracle that can happen to a loving couple, so this is completely incomprehensible to me, and my husband also talks about it. We are both calling for the restoration of refunds for the in vitro method - said Paulina Kosiniak-Kamysz on TVN24.

20:53

Paulina Kosiniak-Kamysz: I am for preserving the abortion compromise worked out a decade ago

- Generally, I am for preserving the abortion compromise worked out a decade ago. Of course, any liberalization or tightening will cause the pendulum to swing the other way in a few years, and this dispute will return, just as it has returned like a boomerang so far. Of course, I am aware that this compromise does not satisfy either side, but it is a value in itself, and I respect it - said Paulina Kosiniak-Kamysz on TVN24.

20:57

Paulina Kosiniak-Kamysz: We Must Focus Primarily on the Second Round. Let's Not Be Slaves to the First Round

- I've already spoken about polls in the current situation. They are completely unreliable for me. We've also never paid attention to these polls, and as you, the editor, rightly noted, here we must focus primarily on the second round. Let's not be slaves to the first round. This is not a plebiscite to win the first round - said Paulina Kosiniak-Kamysz on TVN24.

20:59

Paulina Kosiniak-Kamysz on the First Lady's Salary: This Issue Should Be Considered on Referendum Day
This issue should be considered on referendum day. I would not want to, I think I would not dare to make such a decision, I would leave it, just as it happened for example in Germany, and Germany questioned the First Lady's salary and she does not receive any remuneration - said Paulina Kosiniak-Kamysz on TVN24.
