Today – as announced – a press conference is scheduled to take place, during which Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki will announce the date and scope of the lifting of restrictions in the second stage of unfreezing the economy.

- The Left will present a clear timeline for achieving fair, legally organized elections and a bill that will enable this to happen – 300POLITYKA's sources report. According to this proposal, elections would be held at the turn of September and October 2020. The press conference will take place at 10:00 AM in front of the Sejm, and will be attended by Włodzimierz Czarzasty, Krzysztof Gawkowski, Anna-Maria Żukowska, and Maciej Konieczny.

The Sejm session will begin at 12:00 PM with the first reading of the government's draft bill amending certain acts regarding protective measures in connection with the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus. At 2:30 PM, MPs will hear information on measures taken to enable Poles residing in border areas within the Republic of Poland and beyond its borders to work in Poland and neighboring countries.

At 2:00 PM, the Sejm's public finance committee will convene regarding the aforementioned government draft bill on coronavirus. The plenary agenda also includes, among others, the first reading of the government's draft bill on granting public aid to rescue or restructure entrepreneurs at 5:00 PM. At 6:00 PM, a break will be announced, and at 9:00 PM, the second reading of the government's draft bill amending certain acts regarding protective measures in connection with the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus will commence.

What is the alternative? Because I could just as well ask that question of our opposition. I will answer briefly: it's an alternative based on chaos, anarchy, because let's remember that the president's term ends on August 6th. From August 7th, our country would be in a situation where one of the most important bodies, practically the most important body of the executive power, would be absent. This is an unacceptable situation – stated Michał Wójcik in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Piasecki's Conversation".

- There is no basis for introducing a state of emergency, indeed a state of natural disaster, because to do something like that, according to the regulations, there would have to be a situation where the country could not function, anarchy would prevail on the streets, the security of citizens would be threatened, and the organs of the state could not function. There is no such situation, and no one will bend the Constitution just because the opposition lacks good counter-candidates for Andrzej Duda - stated Michał Wójcik in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego".

- Of course, it was a sentence that the head of the PKW uttered. I don't know what it referred to. Perhaps it referred to local governments, those that, against the law, refuse to transfer data from registers today. Perhaps that's what it was about - stated Michał Wójcik in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego". - Perhaps it's about the issue of data transfer. If the chairman sends a letter to commissioners, in which he very clearly explains that Article 99 of the COVID Act is the basis for data transfer, and yet some local governments say no, we will not transfer, then perhaps it is also about that, or only about that. It's hard for me to say at this moment. You would have to invite the head of the PKW to answer the question about what exactly it was about - the Deputy Minister of Justice continued.

„From what we announced earlier, the second stage concerns issues related to hotels, accommodation, the opening of DIY stores on weekends, [and the lifting of] restrictions on the functioning of libraries and cultural institutions. Today, these decisions will be announced around 10 AM by the Prime Minister. Discussions were held regarding the transfer of certain elements from Stage III to Stage II. Today, such decisions will also be announced” – said government spokesperson Minister Piotr Müller on Radio Jedynka.

- We must be guided by Poland's interest. What's best for Poland today is for these elections to be held as soon as possible, and to be held on the date indicated in the Sejm Marshal's decree - stated Michał Wójcik in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego" program.

„I hope that Mr. Gowin's declarations of wanting to remain in the United Right will translate into matters concerning the Electoral Code. I hope that this will remain the case, that the desire of all current coalition partners to continue functioning within the United Right will persist” - said government spokesperson, Minister Piotr Müller, on Radio Jedynka.

- I believe that we are like at war today, one could say. Because today the situation is absolutely extraordinary - stated Michał Wójcik in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Piasecki's Interview".

– Please also remember, because the opposition says: yes, let's introduce it, let's introduce it. A state of natural disaster means a very drastic violation of civil liberties, civil rights. 'All we offer is joining the faction of common sense, which will vote to postpone the May 10th election so that it can be held at a safe time, when elections can be conducted reliably and will be real elections' - said Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz in an interview with Robert Mazurek on RMF FM's "Morning Interview".

- Certainly, there is work on our part today and cooperation of everyone in the opposition, from Konfederacja, through Koalicja Polska, Civic Coalition, The Left, and an invitation for Agreement MPs, against the May 10th elections being conducted by correspondence - added the leader of the PSL.

- When it comes to decency, I have a different measure of decency. I believe we must fight to the end. Fight. Not give Poland away by forfeit. If Władysław Bartoszewski and Stanisław Mikołajczyk had staged a theatrical boycott in 1947, the communists would not have had to falsify the elections - said Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz in a conversation with Robert Mazurek on RMF FM's "Morning Interview".

- The Marshal is not withdrawing from the elections. The Marshal clearly states that she will participate in fair, normal, equal elections, with these four adjectives inscribed in the constitution. However, what PiS wants to do on May 10th has nothing to do with elections - said Marcin Kierwiński in an interview with Beata Michniewicz on Polskie Radio Trójka's "Political Salon".

- I heard this from a very credible source that directly spoke with that person. To be honest, these are things that make your hair stand on end. Besides, these are not the first such actions by PiS - he added.

- One shouldn't participate in a process that is a huge forgery. I'm surprised by other candidates. I hope we will be together, and for now, that's how it looks, regarding the attempt to throw postal voting, postal services, into the trash – said Marcin Kierwiński in an interview with Beata Michniewicz on Radio Trójka's "Political Salon".

- I think it's too early for such a definitive opinion, but statistics clearly show that the number of detected cases is falling, and that's good news. I am convinced that today we will be able to announce further elements that will return to normality in our daily lives, because it is of course difficult to assume that it will look exactly as it did a few months ago, but I think that this new economic and social reality will open up more and more, thanks to the fact that we are able to observe a decrease in the number of infections, at least in recent days, despite the fact that last week or at the beginning of last week, the first round that allowed us significantly more freedom of movement actually came into effect - stated Janusz Cieszyński in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego," when asked whether the Ministry of Health assesses that the peak of infections is already behind us.

- At least 7 days must pass to realistically assess them [the lifting of some restrictions], and we were prepared for such an assessment, we conducted it, and therefore today we will be able to announce such changes. Of course, one must remember that these are matters that are continuously monitored, so if it turns out that for some reason this trend reverses and the number of infections starts to rise significantly again, we are ready at any moment to take a step back. However, at this moment, we are planning the changes that were announced by the Prime Minister a few weeks ago, along with a division into certain stages. Yet, I think the situation is developing well enough that there is a chance that certain things will be accelerated compared to what was initially announced – stated Janusz Cieszyński in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego".

This year, it's not yet known. Farmers will definitely receive aid if it's necessary. This is because previous years show that we treat farmers seriously. In 2018, it was PLN 2 billion 200 million in aid paid to farmers. I'll remind you, in 2015 it was PLN 470 million. For 2019, the amount calculated for farmers is roughly similar, as so many farmers applied for this form of aid. 340,000 farms applied. So far, exactly to the end, 220,000 farmers have been paid, and now, yesterday, today, tomorrow and on Friday, aid will be paid to 91,000 farmers. To the end. However, about 30,000 farmers will receive an advance payment, and the rest of the funds will be transferred in the coming weeks, because they don't expire. But I must also honestly say, these funds that were guaranteed in the budget from special reserve No. 12 for disaster relief were largely used, until the budget amendment, for the fight against coronavirus, against death and disease. This is natural. Therefore, about 10% of farmers who applied for drought aid will receive an advance and unfortunately have to wait a little. These are the consequences of the coronavirus, which no one could have predicted when we planned the budget - stated Jan Krzysztof Ardanowski in an interview with Michał Rachoń on the TVP Info program "Jedziemy".

- Absolutely not [what the Senate is doing with the bill introducing postal voting cannot be called obstruction]. I disagree with that. The Senate is simply doing what the Sejm failed to do, which dealt with this important bill for about 3.5 hours. We, as you are likely following, are organizing very broad consultations, listening to various experts, from epidemiologists to election law specialists, through postal workers who are to perform this service, through people specializing in personal data protection, and we are also connecting with government organizations, ministries, the National Electoral Commission, and receiving signals from the OSCE. There is truly a lot of work involved. I would remind you that constitutionally, we have the right to 30 days to work on a bill, and this time is passing very quickly. Therefore, yesterday's very stormy commission meeting was extended to Monday because deliberations were not concluded - stated Tomasz Grodzki in a conversation with Jacek Prusinowski on Radio Plus.

- This is not about making these elections difficult. We need to go a step further. These [presidential] elections, in their current undemocratic, unconstitutional form, at the peak of the epidemic, simply cannot proceed - the Marshal of the Senate continued.

- Please ask Madam Marshal [Kidawa-Błońska if she will withdraw her candidacy or not vote], because I don't know. She certainly won't vote, but her name will likely not be withdrawn from the electoral list for May 10th. I still believe, and have reasons to do so, that we will manage to postpone these elections to a safer period, but with the same candidates. Therefore, withdrawing candidates would mean some problem for Civic Coalition, which is why Madam Marshal is not withdrawing - stated Tomasz Grodzki in an interview with Jacek Prusinowski on Radio Plus.

- Let's be clear, these elections, in their current form, do not meet democratic standards. You can read the OSCE report, which states this clearly and unequivocally. Therefore, our not recognizing this president is less important, but he will be treated… What you call elections, I call at least pseudo-elections, a postal service, or – to put it brutally – an electoral farce. So it's difficult to believe that someone chosen in such a farce will have the legitimacy to govern the country – stated Tomasz Grodzki in an interview with Jacek Prusinowski on Radio Plus.

Asked whether Civic Platform would recognize the election results, the Marshal of the Senate replied: - Please ask Chairman Budka about that. The National Council will likely decide on this.

„370 is the number of people who have recovered, so with a high probability, we can say that there will be fewer or a very similar number of new people infected with coronavirus in Poland, who will enter the count of sick people versus those who have recovered. This is the first day we can say there's an increase in people recovering faster” - said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki at a press conference.

„We are consistently opening the economy, but we are not loosening safety and social distancing rules by even a centimeter. They are perhaps even more important than before. It can be seen that some people are allowing themselves a bit more freedom. I see it myself in Warsaw; there is more traffic, more cars, more people are leaving their homes. We leave our homes to go to work, to shop, and for matters of vital necessity” - said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki at a press conference.

In the second phase, we can make a responsible decision, because we will see how we, the society, have behaved, but also how aggressive the coronavirus has been over the last two weeks. In the second phase, from May 6, we want to allow the possibility of opening nurseries and kindergartens. Final decisions will be made each time with regard to each nursery, kindergarten by the founding bodies. We are enabling this, and the guidelines of the Minister of Health will simultaneously define the conditions under which this opening will be possible. For those who will not be able to place their children in kindergarten or take them to nursery, we will continue to have childcare benefit" - said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki at a press conference.

„From May 4th, we are opening hotels and accommodation facilities. I want to specifically emphasize that this is from May 4th, so that we don't all rush out in large numbers to various places for the May long weekend, because by gathering, we create a greater risk of infection. Let's maintain a greater level of rigor for the May break, and after the May break, hotels and accommodation facilities will be able to open” - said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki at a press conference.

„[From] May 4th, shopping malls will be allowed to reopen. Similar to the smaller shops, which remained open continuously on streets and pedestrian zones, we closed shopping malls. Now shopping malls will be allowed to open, but under a similar regime – one customer may be present per 15 square meters in a single store. We developed these rules with representatives of shopping malls and various entities that manage them” - said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki at a press conference.

"Following consultations with the Ministry of Health, we have decided that due to the fact that these are very important treatments for health, often necessary to be conducted in cycles, they will be possible from May 4th. We are also opening cultural institutions: museums, libraries, also depending on the nature of the interiors and in dialogue with the managing bodies," Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki stated at a press conference.

"Future stages will be announced in two-week cycles, with the possibility of accelerating some elements of economic life, such as services, but no such decisions have been made yet. The situation must allow us to conduct appropriate analyses and make decisions based on them" - said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki at a press conference.

“Today we have already saved 2 million jobs. This is thanks to our downtime support and Social Security (ZUS) relief. Thanks to all the actions that are crucial for saving the Polish economy and Polish jobs,” said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki at a press conference.

- Yesterday, I was cycling to work, and a huge number of people on the street either didn't have masks at all or had them pulled down to their chins. This isn't bravery. It's not about showing how courageous I am and that I'm not afraid of the virus. It's about disregarding the fact that I might infect others. This is a symptom of selfishness. Therefore, I earnestly request and appeal, let's wear masks in public spaces - said Łukasz Szumowski during a press conference.

- We are also implementing various measures to further increase the number of tests. Together with the Territorial Defense Force (WOT), we want to test personnel in Social Welfare Homes and Long-Term Care Facilities. We aim to launch, and are in the process of launching, a drive-thru testing service for individuals currently in quarantine. Furthermore, we are providing various legislative and financial solutions to protect these individuals in Social Welfare Homes and Long-Term Care Facilities. We want to propose a work model that would involve a week of work followed by a week of rest at home. For medical personnel alone, we have allocated approximately 50 million [PLN] per month – stated Łukasz Szumowski during a press conference.

- Holding presidential elections is one of the fundamental constitutional requirements. The Constitution obliges us to do so. This is one of the most important acts of a democratic state, which is why we proposed the safest form of conducting presidential elections, elections by mail. I therefore appeal to the Senate to expedite work, to not delay, and to not undertake actions that could genuinely hinder the holding of elections on May 10th - stated Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki at a press conference at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister (KPRM).

– However, according to constitutionalists, elections are possible on later dates, May 17 or 23. We will make these decisions at the appropriate time – stated Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki at a press conference at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister (KPRM).

- I am convinced that elections organized in a postal voting mode, as we are doing, are the safest. However, in some countries where the number of infected people is much higher, elections are held using the traditional method. This is worth emphasizing. There are numerous such countries where elections are continuously held using the traditional method. This is also worth considering. The proper organization of postal voting elections also depends, among other things, on the Senate, on the Senate's swift decisions. These decisions are unnecessarily being prolonged. I appeal to the Senate to make these decisions as quickly as possible. I am convinced that the May elections will conclude the cycle of political elections that began in the autumn of 2018 with local government elections, and thanks to this, the political situation will also be able to return to calmer tracks, and we will be able to fully dedicate ourselves solely to improving the economic situation in the context of the fight against coronavirus. Therefore, I kindly ask the senators to address this matter as urgently as possible. Today, it is evident that, unfortunately, there is some unnecessary delay occurring – stated Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki at a press conference at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister (KPRM).

- Today, with great joy, I announce that one of Poland's most outstanding local government officials, independent Senator Wadim Tyszkiewicz, has decided to lend us his support and join us. He served as the mayor of Nowa Sól for 17 years. He transformed that city beyond recognition, which is known to anyone who has even a slight interest in Polish local government. He changed a city that, after the systemic transformations, was truly on the brink of ruin due to the economic drama it was experiencing. He revived the city, turning it into a vibrant center of economic and social life, and the residents expressed their appreciation for his work through his election results. He is a man whom every politician and local government official could emulate. He has never received less than 75% of the vote in subsequent local elections. His record is 86% of the vote. Wadim is someone who demonstrates how one can genuinely, sensibly, and cohesively work with people to build Poland in the place where it should be built, that is, at the grassroots, where people meet, where our simplest life interests lie. It is a great honor and joy for me that someone of such caliber, someone whom I greatly admire and value for his work for Poland, stands with me today, sharing the hope that we all have in this movement – that Poland will finally have a non-partisan president who will view local governments as the state's greatest allies, rather than as enemies or any kind of threat – stated Szymon Hołownia at a press briefing in front of the Sejm.

- Today, I have decided to support Szymon Hołownia in the presidential elections because he is an independent candidate, because we had been discussing this long before the decision to run for president was announced, and because I greatly respect him. I believe he is a man suited for this office. He is independent, non-partisan, and can make decisions above divisions. That is why I am supporting Szymon Hołownia, as I believe he is the best candidate. At the same time, I would like to say that I hope the elections do not take place on May 10th, meaning my support for Szymon is not synonymous with my participation in the elections. I wish for the entire united democratic opposition to jointly decide what we do on May 10th. I hope these elections do not happen because they will not be elections, but a kind of plebiscite, and therefore, I wish for real, democratic, free elections to be held in Poland, in which Szymon Hołownia will win – said Wadim Tyszkiewicz.

"We have created a legal solution that will allow not only for the postponement of the election date, but we are a political force that thinks about how to do this in accordance with the constitution and how to organize elections, not just postpone them" - said Anna Maria Żukowska from The Left at a press conference.

"A simple, constitutional solution. The chance for the elections to take place at a safe date is the state of natural disaster. We have submitted a request to the Prime Minister to introduce the state of natural disaster and we will be consistent. We will submit a request to expand the agenda with a point concerning a resolution. Yesterday and today, we hear from the OSCE and the National Electoral Commission that the elections may be undemocratic, not free. This means that PiS should grab from every institution with both hands. However, all this is thrown into the bin, because one goal matters - Andrzej Duda as president" - said Krzysztof Gawkowski, head of The Left parliamentary club.

- Listening today about the defrosting of the economy, about the fact that nurseries and kindergartens will open from May 4th, and other institutions will be able to open from May 6th, I still ask myself, after all that I've heard and seen so far, if this isn't a setup for the elections. Unfortunately, I no longer trust Minister Szumowski to be conveying purely medical, doctor's knowledge to me. He is a politician, and unfortunately, he has shown this very clearly in recent days and weeks. So, I don't know what they are playing at. And I don't know if it's a good decision that all of this is being made in such short intervals, so quickly. It's certainly good for the economy and will certainly lead to a situation where more people can earn money, but what will be the outcome for us as a society? Wouldn't it be better to describe this plan sensibly for 2-3 months ahead, so that we can react to what is happening in advance, rather than listening to new proposals every week at further press conferences - stated Szymon Hołownia at a press briefing in front of the Sejm.

- We remember the parliamentary address of Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, then a minister, who presented the bill to increase the retirement age. Those words: 'the bill introduces an increase in the retirement age to 67 years,' will follow Mr. Kosiniak-Kamysz, I think, until the end of his political career. He would like to forget them, he would like to hide them, he would like to convince everyone that it wasn't him, but that is not true. Today, for the needs of the election campaign, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz wants to present himself as the opponent of Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz from 2012. This is dishonest towards Poles, dishonest towards voters - said Radosław Fogiel during a statement.


- Poles have every right to know who they are voting for in the upcoming presidential elections. We will do everything to ensure they know that the wolf who is today disguising himself in sheep's clothing, as recently as a few years ago introduced the increase of the retirement age to 67 years, called by many the 'work until death' program. We will not allow Mr. Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz to achieve collective amnesia in Poland. We will not allow Poles to forget who wanted to provide them with such a future - added Adam Bielan.

- I greet you from the town of Jazgarzewo near Warsaw, from the weir on the Jeziorce River. A weir that has been here for many, many years, existing since 1989, primarily with the intention of serving flood control purposes, but today we look at this weir quite differently. In addition to its flood control function, which it may also fulfill, it will primarily serve irrigation purposes in the near future, and the repair works to be carried out here in the coming months will give it a new rhythm. I am pleased to announce that just a moment ago, literally at 1:00 PM, Wody Polskie opened the tender procedure for the modernization and renovation of this weir, this water impoundment. This will be one of 650 investments of this type currently being implemented throughout Poland, as part of the small retention program - said President Andrzej Duda during a press briefing in Jazgarzewo.

"I listened with attention to your statement about your intention to boycott the upcoming presidential elections. One of the arguments you presented were the words of my late Father about decent behavior. At the outset, I would like to point out that the words you quoted were spoken by his great friend, Antoni Słonimski, but that is not the point." - The letter from Władysław Teofil Bartoszewski, a Member of Parliament for the Polish Coalition, to Donald Tusk begins with a subtle jab. Bartoszewski writes that in the 1947 elections, his father wanted to vote, but "he couldn't because not because he boycotted them, but because he was held for 18 months without charges in the basement of the Ministry of Public Security": "My father spent 1946 as an active member of the PSL, encouraging Poles to vote in the referendum and then in the Sejm elections, despite the widespread communist terror. Party activists were persecuted, arrested, imprisoned, and even killed; this even applied to candidates for the Sejm. After the referendum, which was rigged in June 1946, everyone was aware that the communist authorities would not allow free elections. Nevertheless, for the next six months, my father waged a constant election campaign and was a tireless speaker at rallies that gathered thousands of Poles. Knowing that defeat was inevitable because the communists would rig the elections anyway, he acted until the very end. He desperately wanted to vote in the parliamentary elections in January 1947, but he couldn't because not because he boycotted them, but because he was held for 18 months without charges in the basement of the Ministry of Public Security (today the Ministry of Justice is located in that building). My father would have strongly condemned calls to boycott the upcoming presidential elections, because in his fight for a free Poland, he never gave up in any situation." Boycotting serves Duda, Bartoszewski writes: "Evil triumphs when good people do nothing. Boycotting the upcoming elections could ensure President Duda's victory, and every uncast vote will serve this purpose. Responsibility will fall on all those who called for a boycott. I understand decency as fighting for a just cause until the very end, and in the upcoming presidential elections, I will vote for Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz. When evil spreads, the fight for good becomes even more necessary."

The Sejm rejected the opposition's motion to adjourn the session with a majority safe for PiS.

Today, Poles have no more doubts when Andrzej Duda shows his true colours. Either jumping strangely on TikTok, a Chinese app for youth, or promoting himself during the coronavirus in a very friendly environment for him, on public television, for which he allocated 2 billion PLN and then his hand didn't tremble, because it was possible to support cancer patients in this way. Poles see all of this, just as they see and notice the unfulfilled promises from President Duda's campaign, which he announced he would fulfill during his 5-year term. I will mention only three of them; there are, of course, very many. I have in mind here: Tax-free pensions, doubling subsidies for agriculture, or the tax-free amount. Today, we are saying: 'We're checking.' We are saying this to you, Mr. President, Mr. President, today is the time for you to account for your unfulfilled promises, stop jumping on TikTok, and tell Poles how you can account for your promises to them today - stated Piotr Zgorzelski at a briefing in the Sejm.

The day started excellently because in the morning, members of Andrzej Duda's campaign team dedicated their entire presentation to one presidential candidate. They dedicated their entire presentation to Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz. This is a very good sign, firstly because they clearly appreciate him, and secondly, because we all know that PiS likely possesses the most reliable public opinion polls, and these polls indicated that Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz is the biggest threat to President Duda in the upcoming election, and therefore he should receive the most attention. This statement today was necessitated by the situation I have been facing since yesterday. Namely, in the public and media sphere, with many editorial offices repeating it, false information has been circulating since yesterday alleging that BAS (the Chancellery of the Sejm) has prepared a devastating opinion regarding the admissibility of applying Article 99 of the April 16th act concerning the disclosure of data from the voter register. Well, I corrected this yesterday, we corrected it through PAP, but I see that it continues to be disseminated, and I would like to ask you, the editorial offices, to publish my statement or to correct this false information. Every Deputy Speaker has the right to request an opinion on any topic and has the right to commission such an opinion from an external expert. This is what happened in this case. Marshal Kidawa-Błońska, on April 23rd, approached BAS with a request that BAS would ask a professor from the University of Wrocław, her expert, indicated by her, to prepare an expertise. This expertise was prepared by the professor and it reached us, BAS, on April 27th. However, it turns out that this opinion, which is not an opinion of BAS, but the opinion of one of the professors from a Wrocław university, commissioned privately, not by BAS, but from an external entity, i.e., in this case, the University of Wrocław, unfortunately, I am holding in my hand what is circulating in the public domain. This is the Sejm emblem, here is the BAS logo, and this opinion is circulating in the media. Well, because this is a forgery. Firstly, you have "Wrocław" written in the corner here, April 25th. BAS is in Warsaw, not in Wrocław. Secondly, this opinion arrived on April 27th, and before it reached the Sejm, it had no right to circulate, and it – as it turns out – has been circulating – since April 25th - stated Elżbieta Witek at a press briefing. This is not just an opinion of BAS, but an external opinion commissioned by Marshal Kidawa-Błońska. I don't know how many such opinions on Sejm letterhead might be circulating, but since this one was detected, I have today ordered the preparation of a motion to the prosecutor's office, a request regarding the possibility of committing a crime. I don't know by whom, who is sharing it, who is disseminating it, for what purpose. I don't know, but I would like to find out, because the Sejm letterhead with the logo, as well as the BAS logo, were used unlawfully, and someone is impersonating BAS. This is unacceptable - the Sejm Marshal continued. I have an appeal to Marshal Kidawa-Błońska, I hope she will agree to meet with you, with the media, and confirm what I am saying, that this is not BAS's opinion. Someone impersonated it, used the Sejm and BAS logotypes. This is simply dishonest, and as the Marshal of the Sejm, I cannot allow such documents, which are forged documents, because they were dishonestly released into the public domain, to circulate in the public sphere - she emphasized.

I hope we will learn the name of the new First President of the Supreme Court as soon as possible. Exactly tomorrow, the term of office of the current First President, Ms. Gersdorf, ends. There is no candidate selected, and yet five candidates should have been selected and presented by the General Assembly of Supreme Court Judges for this position, in accordance with the law. The assembly has not taken place, and no candidate has been presented. Consequently, in accordance with current regulations, a person will be appointed to perform the duties of the First President of the Supreme Court. This person will commence their function in the Supreme Court within the appropriate timeframe, immediately after the expiry of Ms. Gersdorf's term. The primary task of this person, this Supreme Court judge – as it can only be a Supreme Court judge designated by the President of the Republic, as stipulated by the law – is above all to convene the assembly so that the First President of the Supreme Court can be elected. I assume this will happen as soon as possible and that this person will fulfill their statutory duties in this regard - said President Andrzej Duda in an online Q&A. - I hope that, as the law foresees, five candidates for the First President of the Supreme Court will be chosen by the judges themselves. The President has nothing to say in this matter. These candidates will be presented to the President, who will ultimately choose the person to become the First President of the Supreme Court. However, I am surprised by the high level of aggression from Ms. Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska, as I knew her for more restrained, cultured behavior. Meanwhile, from the very beginning, this candidate has stepped into the shoes of her predecessors and is somewhat imitating Mr. Budka, Mr. Schetyna, Mr. Tusk in such aggression and blowing up Polish public life – stated Piotr Gliński in an interview with Michał Adamczyk on TVP Info's "Gość Wydarzeń".

I appeal to the Polish opposition: stop the constant bickering, because it brings you no good. People don't want squabbles in Poland, they don't want the state to be destabilized. We want to solve our problems peacefully. We had very high economic growth, and currently we have a very serious problem with the epidemic, and we are solving this problem together, overcoming difficulties. I appeal once again, that you in the opposition should not play on emotions, epithets, insinuations, because it leads nowhere. Poles don't want such a Poland – stated Piotr Gliński in an interview with Michał Adamczyk on TVP Info's "Gość Wydarzeń".

„I believe that editor [Jarosław] Kurski was mistaken in his interpretation of the law and of what I did. I have nothing to blame myself for, and I certainly haven't raised a white flag, not by calling the General Assembly of Supreme Court Judges to elect the First President. The factual situation became such that I could not do it, because I would have exposed the judges to risks to their health and lives” – stated the outgoing First President of the Supreme Court, Prof. Małgorzata Gersdorf, in an interview with Monika Olejnik on the program “Kropka nad i” on TVN24.

“As I am still a judge, I cannot directly state whether they [correspondence elections] are in line with the constitution or not, because the Supreme Court will eventually rule on these matters. I hope the May elections don't happen, as they are not general elections and the strict procedures for elections and candidate presentations have certainly been broken. They are not general because, for example, Poles abroad will not be able to vote” - said outgoing Supreme Court President Małgorzata Gersdorf on TVN24. 

„[I would tell Andrzej Duda] that he has forgotten what the constitution is, what the president's competences are, that he should oversee the independence and impartiality of the courts, support the judiciary, not suppress it and say it's a caste defending its own interests, because that is untrue. It defends the legal order and the rule of law. That is the truth” – said the retiring First President of the Supreme Court, Małgorzata Gersdorf, on TVN24. 

“The way the elections are being handled [shows that we are rapidly heading towards an authoritarian state], the way these changes are being interpreted, being pushed through by force, changes that should not be taking place. All of this indicates that the authorities are very keen on having the elections at this moment, regardless of how much they will be violating the constitution” – said the outgoing First President of the Supreme Court, Małgorzata Gersdorf, on TVN24. 

„[Jarosław Kaczyński] always seeks power. Mr. Kaczyński always seeks power, and he's excellent at using even all defeats to maintain and even gain more power, but there are certain limits” – said the departing First President of the Supreme Court, Małgorzata Gersdorf, on TVN24.
