Bielan:

We Appeal to All Presidential Candidates to Clearly Tell Voters Whether They Agree to Hospital Privatization, to Healthcare Commercialization

- As you can see, even after losing power, in 2016, Civic Platform MPs voted against the act prohibiting hospital privatization. That is why today, from this place, we appeal to all presidential candidates to clearly tell voters whether they agree to hospital privatization, whether they agree to healthcare commercialization - stated Adam Bielan at a press briefing.

PAD’s Campaign Presents New Video:

Can You Imagine Hospitals Being Privatized in These Difficult Times?

- From press reports, but not only, as individual information also reaches me, we don’t have statistics of course, but information is arriving that private healthcare has failed. The entire burden of the fight against the epidemic is based on public healthcare, which we have cared for, are caring for, and will continue to care for. It is public healthcare, state-owned hospitals, whose founding bodies are local governments, and not only them, that have taken on the main burden, practically the entire burden of fighting the epidemic. This fight, which I have the impression we are handling better and better, that we are winning, that a light at the end of the tunnel is visible. Of course, we cannot yet speak with full optimism, but by practicing myself, by being on duty, by meeting with doctors, and above all with patients, I see that together, united, we will overcome the epidemic – stated Stanisław Karczewski at a press briefing.

- As you can see, when in trouble, people turn to public healthcare. Meanwhile, there are political groups in Poland that have been consistently demanding the commercialization of healthcare for many years – Adam Bielan continued, presenting the new video.

Karczewski:

We Will Move to Adopt the Postal Voting Act Without Amendments

- From our side, [no amendments to the postal voting act should be expected in the Senate]. We will move to adopt this act without amendments, and as for the opposition's stance, or in the case of the Senate's majority, I don't know. I hear about various possibilities and concepts. I know that a decision has not yet been made there, because perhaps an amendment to reject the act in its entirety or any amendments will be proposed and adopted. We don't know that - stated Stanisław Karczewski at a press briefing.

Kidawa-Błońska:

We must make a bold decision about when we can resume normal operations. If the government says exams can be held in June, perhaps this is the time to gradually reawaken our economy.
I came to Poznań because one can learn many things here. This was the first city that decided, due to the coronavirus, that schools should be closed. Here, they managed excellently with assistance for victims of domestic violence, giving women a chance to be safe, and from the beginning, they thought about entrepreneurs and preserving jobs so that, for example, city markets could function. It was here that attention was drawn to the fact that bicycles do not pose a threat in the spread of the coronavirus. Very good and strong ideas. It was here that the problem I discussed yesterday at a conference was solved: how to organize work in Social Welfare Homes (DPS-y) so that residents feel safe. I came to Poznań to discuss what needs to be done to quickly restore our economy, to 'defrost' it. And I know one thing: three things are needed for this. Firstly, we need more tests, which we have been talking about continuously for many weeks. Secondly, we need trust in entrepreneurs, in people who perform their professions, because every entrepreneur wants healthy employees, doesn't want to infect anyone, and wants to be able to function normally. Therefore, we must talk to them and find, and show them, ways of working that allow companies to operate. According to Minister Szumowski, we will live with this virus for many years. Therefore, we must learn to work under such conditions, to prepare our workplaces in such a way that it is safe for employees or for customers using services. This also applies to small business owners. Why can't hairdressers work? This needs to be explained to them. What conditions must they meet to be able to work - stated Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska at a press briefing in Poznań. We must make a bold decision about when we can resume normal operations. If the government says that exams for eighth-graders can be held in June, then perhaps this is the time to say that in June, after discussions, consultations, and building trust, we will gradually reawaken individual branches of our economy and allow them to function normally. This is the time to stop telling entrepreneurs 'it will be someday,' but to provide dates and tell them what they need to do for these dates to be realistic - continued the Civic Coalition candidate for president.

Kidawa-Błońska:

No ballots can be printed because we don't know what these elections will look like

- First and foremost, we don't know when the elections will be held, nor do we know how they will be conducted. This is the legal situation as of today. Therefore, no ballots can be printed because we don't know what these elections will look like. Through PiS's insertions, chaos has been caused, and if anyone asks when the elections will be held - we don't know. Legally, elections on the 10th [of May] under the current system are impossible to conduct. If it passes from the Senate and goes to the Sejm, then at the latest by the 7th [of May], we will be able to say how elections in our country are to be conducted. Until then, no ordinances can be issued, and no ballots can be printed. Anyone who does so, aside from not having it printed by the institution that should be doing it, is breaking the law - stated Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska at a press briefing in Poznań.

Second Stage of Sport Unfreezing Begins May 4th
- We want to present today with the Minister of Sport a matrix for returning to the new reality of sports and following this first round of the fight against coronavirus, when we managed to stop the opponent, we want to move to a counter-offensive, to actions that will show a return to sports normality, hopefully in the coming weeks, a few months. Sport is, of course, health, but also a very important sector of the national economy, which also contributes to improving our health, and therefore it is this area of public life that we are particularly concerned with and are aware of how important it is to restore this new normality here - stated Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki at a press conference at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister.
“The first stage is already behind us. We know very well that even individual training was forbidden, parks and forests were closed. Today we can say that individual training is once again possible. This is now allowed, in forests also without a mask, and this stage of returning to activity is behind us. In the second stage, we are approaching the opening of sports fields and various places for practicing sports that are in open spaces. This second stage will be from May 4th, so very soon. In the second stage, also the "orliki" (mini-football pitches), on pitches where no more than 6 people will be able to play, and thus also for other sports such as lawn tennis, also in the open air, where it is known that 2 or 4 players can play, will also become permissible. In these places, we are sure or have a high probability of maintaining social distancing, which is important to reduce the probability of coronavirus infections.

In the third stage, school halls, sports halls will be opened, i.e., indoor facilities, but also with a maximum of 6 people playing or practicing a given sport, and while adhering to the safety and sanitary regulations, which are very important so that what we have achieved, what we have succeeded in much better than Italy, France, Spain, the Netherlands, Sweden, or Denmark, namely flattening the wave of coronavirus infections, can continue. These sanitary rules, observed all the time, are important.

The fourth stage will cover facilities that are also associated with greater proximity of people who cooperate with each other or participate in sports, such as various types of gyms, fitness rooms, as well as swimming pools. Sports, recreation, and bowling alleys or other similar places for practicing sports.”
- Decisions on moving to the third and fourth stages will also depend on the same criteria that we discussed with the Minister of Health in the context of launching further phases of economic opening. That is, the number of infections, but also the number of available beds in hospitals and infectious disease wards, single-specialty hospitals, so as to be sure that in the event that this wave intensifies, within some time interval, 2-3 weeks following the opening of the economy or sports, we will be able to manage it properly again - emphasized the head of the Polish government.

PMM:

We have a precisely agreed, structured plan and schedule to reach the first Ekstraklasa match, which could take place as early as the end of May.

- I have made the decision to resume play in the football and speedway Ekstraklasa. The return of league competitions. This first whistle will not sound tomorrow, nor will the first tape in the case of speedway competitions be raised tomorrow, but we have a precisely agreed, structured plan and schedule to reach the first Ekstraklasa match, which could take place as early as the end of May - stated Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki at a press conference at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister (KPRM).

- Athletes are already subject to isolation. In the near future, they will be able to return to training, at the beginning of May, in accordance with recommendations and a strictly defined sanitary regime, so that after another two weeks they can commence sports competitions, Ekstraklasa football, and speedway Ekstraklasa, while maintaining sanitary conditions and, unfortunately, for now, without spectators - the head of the Polish government continued.

Morawiecki:

Discussions with President Duda on New Economic Solutions for Entrepreneurs

- Approximately two million jobs are protected today, one might say, thanks to the government's economic shield that we have implemented. These are solutions that greatly help entrepreneurs survive this extremely difficult time. To a much lesser extent than during previous crises, and I had the opportunity to closely observe previous crises, entrepreneurs are making the dramatic decision for people, and often for themselves too, concerning layoffs. This is what matters most to us, which is why there will be further laws that will improve our solutions and introduce new ones. Two days ago, I also spoke with President Duda, who proposed further, very interesting solutions in the economic sphere. These aim on the one hand to improve the efficiency of the entire system, and on the other hand, they are intended to help or provide further relief to entrepreneurs. In our next law, which will be submitted to the Sejm in the near future, these will be included. The solutions will encompass both those that individually address very important matters, such as our request to the European Commission for VAT exemption on books, because it is important for reading to flourish and be as widespread as possible in Poland, rather than fading away, but also solutions concerning ZUS (Social Insurance Institution), micro-firms, as well as very large companies, because almost all sectors of the Polish economy have been hit by this unprecedented crisis - stated Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki at a press conference at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister, when asked by 300POLITYKA about the so-called Shield 3.0 project.

I hope local governments will fulfill their obligation to issue voter lists

The Chairman of the National Electoral Commission, Mr. Marciniak, clearly stated that local governments are obliged to issue voter lists, to present voter lists, and therefore I hope that local governments will fulfill their obligation – Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki stated at a press conference at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister.

Hołownia:

We are not abdicating, not boycotting, not leaving the battlefield. We cannot yield to an unlimited lust for power. Today, we cannot succumb to the temptation of demobilization.
I want to say clearly and explicitly. We are not abdicating, we are not boycotting, we are not leaving the battlefield. This is very important because today, in many circles, you can hear voices saying we should demobilize, that it's time for a boycott, for yielding. We cannot yield to madness. We cannot yield to an unlimited lust for power. Right now, we don't know how the cheat will deal the cards, because he's still shuffling them, still marking them. We will probably only find out on May 6th or 7th, once the situation is resolved, and then it will be time to say definitively, if this is the game, then this is how we will play it. However, today we cannot succumb to the temptation of demobilization. Because that's exactly what they want. For us to run away – stated Szymon Hołownia at a press briefing.

13:55

Hołownia:

Our Priority is to Prevent May Elections Amidst Epidemic, but a Decision Will Be Made by May 6th or 7th

- As I said, the final decision [regarding the elections] will be made at the moment we know when these elections will take place. Our priority right now is to achieve, by all means, that they do not happen in May, in the very midst of the epidemic. However, we must be prepared that on May 6th or 7th, we will make a decision one way or the other, and it might be a decision for a fight. We will have to organize ourselves, secure ourselves, and not allow a cheat to steal Poland from us under the guise of the epidemic - stated Szymon Hołownia at a press briefing.

Kosiniak:

How Dysfunctional Must Priorities Be to Make Power-Consolidating Insertions?
- For several weeks, I did not evaluate the government's actions; we extended a hand for cooperation, we provided solutions enabling the government to make quick decisions, we participated in meetings at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers. We were where we needed to be, open to cooperation. You cannot expect someone to extend a hand to you when you reject it. We showed openness - said Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz in an hour-long programmatic speech broadcast on FB. - This cooperation was brutally interrupted; overnight, insertions were made that eliminated social dialogue and introduced postal voting. How dysfunctional must priorities be to make power-consolidating insertions. We do not agree to this. We spoke about the holes in the shield, and this was not heard. In all these events, what is most disheartening for us as citizens is that the hand extended for an agreement was rejected, and the authorities once again showed their true face: striving for a party goal at all costs. And they continue this march to consolidate power; the electoral process is disrupted. Today, it's not about the campaign, not even about who will be president, but about how we are all able to defeat the enemy and get back on track. Today, hope for Poland and Poles is even more needed. One with another, not one against another. The role of the president is to find common ground, which Andrzej Duda has failed to fulfill - said Kosiniak-Kamysz.

Kosiniak:

They are only strong in words, repeating their phrases and platitudes. Ready? The President might have been ready to jump on TikTok, but not to unite society.
"Citizens are passing the exam, but the authorities and the government have failed the citizens. The Chief Sanitary Inspector, with a smile, said that nothing threatens us. It could be even worse, because we hear propaganda on state television. They said they were strong and ready; after a few weeks, they say no one would have been prepared. They are only strong in words, repeating their phrases and platitudes. Ready? The President might have been ready to jump on TikTok, but not to unite society and stand at the head of us all. He was completely unprepared for this, he did not submit any bill. The President is a subcontractor for President Kaczyński," said Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz in a one-hour program speech broadcast on FB.

14:51

Kosiniak-Kamysz:

Fighting Coronavirus Isn't About Publicity; It's About Protection from Day One
"The fight against the coronavirus is not a publicity stunt surrounding the virus. It's not about the ceremonial welcoming of masks, but about securing them from the very first day. Once upon a time, oranges arriving from Cuba were welcomed, and today masks are arriving on a Russian plane," said Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz.

Kosiniak:

We Publicly Supported Minister Szumowski, a Rarity from the Opposition. The Government Was Late, Downplayed, and Unprepared Poland
- We publicly supported Minister Szumowski, which is rare from the opposition, to speak well of ministers. But our role was also to provide encouragement. A hand was extended from our side. The government was late, downplayed, and unprepared Poland - said Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz.

Arłukowicz Responds to Duda's Campaign: You Left People to Themselves. Thousands Fight the Virus, Hundreds Have Died, Care Homes Beg for Help, Hospitals Cry Out. And You? ... Elections, Elections, Elections.
- You can conjure reality a hundred more times, but the truth is that you left people to themselves. Thousands of people are fighting the virus, hundreds have died, care homes are begging for help, hospitals are crying out for help. And you? ... Elections, elections, elections. People have lost their jobs, companies are collapsing, people have no salaries. And you?... Elections, elections, elections. This week and next, we will show what you are forcing people to do. To elections that are simply dangerous, not secret, and will not be fair - said the head of Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska's campaign, in response to an earlier press conference by A. Duda's campaign.

Applause Isn't Enough. I Propose a 1500 PLN Hero Bonus Since the Start of the Epidemic, When All Healthcare Workers Stood Up to Fight.
"Applause isn't enough. I propose a 1500 PLN hero bonus since the start of the epidemic, when all healthcare workers stood up to fight. This is a measure of material gratitude, because we can offer a lot, a lot, a lot of emotional support and gratitude, and they need it - said Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz during an hour-long programmatic speech broadcast on FB.

Kosiniak:

We Demand Exemption from PIT and CIT for All, Not for the Chosen Few. We Need Voluntary Social Security Contributions.
"We demand exemption from PIT and CIT for everyone, not for the chosen few. We need voluntary social security contributions. See how useful it would be today. We could have launched it at any moment if we had passed the bill that was submitted long ago," said Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz.

What we have today is authoritarian rule, the atmosphere is no longer just tense, the line has been crossed
- If someone says they are not interested in politics, I assure you, politics is interested in you. What we have today is authoritarian rule, the atmosphere is no longer just tense, the line has been crossed - said Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz. - They value their own security above all else. The most important thing is consolidating power, and this recklessness is terrifying. It doesn't matter if the elections are conducted fairly, it doesn't matter about the health risks, what matters is that Andrzej Duda, for whom the polls are favorable today and may not be tomorrow, becomes president for another term. Everything serves to consolidate power. The President does not play the role of an arbiter, he is a hostage of the ruling camp. Dependence on one camp is most visible during a crisis - said Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz.

15:11

Kosiniak:

I won't sign up to be a subject or a mercenary, and I know my countrymen won't either
- We have a growing sense of being subjects rather than masters. I won't sign up to be a subject or a mercenary, and I know my countrymen won't sign up to be subjects, but rather citizens. We've shown we are responsible by adhering to restrictions that burden us, even if not all of them were wise. Society passed the exam, and we must take another step – a referendum day to keep power in check - said Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz.

15:20

Kosiniak-Kamysz:

If Elections Happen, I Won't Cede Poland by Walkover; I Will Fight to the End
- I ask for your support so we can postpone the elections. But if they do happen, be assured, I will not cede Poland by walkover. I will not create a situation where Duda and Kaczynski realize their scenario and witness further theatrical boycotts. I will fight to the end, because I know our fight has meaning. We will win this fight, stay healthy! - said Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz in an hour-long address, which was broadcast live on Facebook.

We Need a President Who Can Stand Up to Threats and Unite Poles. Kosiniak-Kamysz Has Shown Leadership Qualities
- Elements of dictatorship are growing. We need to call it what it is. We need a president who can stand up to threats and unite Poles. Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz has shown leadership qualities, and I am convinced that he will be able to defend the law, restore the rule of law, and rebuild the community. He doesn't have bitterness or ferocity; he has a desire for dialogue and respect for every person - said Aleksander Hall, who participated in the virtual convention of the Polish Coalition candidate.

15:36

Bartoszewski:

Five Years Since My Father's Death – 'It's Worth Being Decent.' The Country Cannot Be Ceded by Walkover. Poland Needs a Leader Who Unites Poles and Has a Vision of Respect for All.
- Five years ago, my father passed away. His most famous saying was: “It's worth being decent, even though it often doesn't pay off. It pays off to be indecent, though it's not worth it.” I would like to appeal to Mr. President Duda: please reflect on this saying and ask the government to introduce a state of disaster and postpone the elections, so as not to endanger Poles and the country's security. The country cannot be ceded by walkover, as Kosiniak-Kamysz says. We must fight to the end – said Władysław Teofil Bartoszewski. - Poland needs a leader who will unite Poles and has a vision of respect for all, and is accountable solely to their conscience and God, not to any chairman – Bartoszewski said at the virtual program convention of the PSL.

Civic Platform Plans Offensive with Local Officials and Ad Spots, Pits Two Election Scenarios Against Each Other: "Sasin's Elections" vs. Budka's "Fair Elections in a Year"
"Until now, all opposition parties have voted against postal elections in May. Unfortunately, the elections may still happen because there hasn't been a majority to date. I will do everything I can to build a majority in the Sejm on May 7th to reject these unfair and dangerous elections" - says Borys Budka in a video message, which 300POLITYKA is publishing first. Civic Platform is capitalizing on the situation where Jarosław Gowin's proposal for constitutional changes has essentially fallen into a political vacuum, and the former Deputy Prime Minister himself is talking about elections in August as the soonest realistic possibility. According to all publicly available surveys, around 80% of respondents contest the May election date, and similar estimates concern those leaning towards deeming such an election invalid. Civic Platform is attempting to overcome communication errors that accompanied their candidate's campaign and is focusing on Budka's plan, which has managed to capture media attention for several days and regain lost initiative. Additionally, Civic Platform is exploiting the confusion of the Left, whose strategy is completely unintelligible to voters, as pointed out by Dominika Wielowieyska in Gazeta Wyborcza. As we hear from leading Civic Platform politicians, its strategists have adopted a strategy designed to force PiS into further explanations, or even into getting entangled in justifying the weaknesses of their plan. As 300POLITYKA learns, in the coming days, Civic Coalition "intends to launch a new media offensive that will bolster the opposition's message and put PiS in a more difficult position. It is the only one with the strength and resources, both in terms of budget subsidies and well-known local government officials and leading politicians." "We are contrasting 'Sasin's elections' with normal elections. There are realistically two plans on the table: May 10th with an unknown execution method, and Budka's proposal. And the cost of holding these elections is increasing every day," a politician from Budka's inner circle, involved in talks with Jarosław Gowin and other opposition factions, tells 300POLITYCE. "You can clearly see that the current authorities' obstinacy means that the elections scheduled for May will be either dangerous or inconsistent with the Polish constitution and fundamental principles. I have proposed a compromise solution that guarantees that the elections will be, firstly: fair, and secondly: safe. I have proposed, firstly: rejecting the very poor solutions regarding postal elections. They mean your vote will not be secret. These solutions do not guarantee equality or universality, as many people abroad will not be able to cast their votes," says Budka. "These elections also mean that it will not be the National Electoral Commission (PKW), but the officials of Mr. Jacek Sasin, who will conduct these elections. Elections cannot be fair if they are conducted by those in power," says Budka: "For them to be fair, they must be conducted by an independent electoral commission." "But what is very important, according to the Polish constitution, this plan can be implemented. Firstly, we must definitively reject the flawed solutions being pushed by the PiS government: postal elections in May. Secondly: we must oblige the government to introduce a state of natural disaster. This suspends the election process but ensures the continuity of power. Thirdly: in the autumn, when the epidemic wave subsides, we can focus on preparing good electoral solutions that will guarantee safe and fair elections. Then, in the spring, a full campaign can be conducted: with debates, thorough and reliable, so that all of you can make an informed choice," Budka continues. "And finally, on May 16, 2021, we will elect a president together. And that is what this plan entails. Until now, all opposition parties have voted against postal elections in May. Unfortunately, the elections may still happen because there hasn't been a majority to date. I will do everything I can to build a majority in the Sejm on May 7th to reject these unfair and dangerous elections. All of this serves the most important goal: that politicians stop dealing with elections and focus on what is most important today: health and economic security."
