Kosiniak-Kamysz:

"Anti-Crisis Bill is a leaky shield, needs amendments to protect businesses, employees, and farmers."

- The Polish economy needs rescue, it needs help as quickly as possible. The anti-crisis bill proposed by the government, without the adoption of our amendments, and those of other opposition clubs, is not a shield that will effectively protect. It is a leaky shield, made of cardboard, not titanium, strong, that can help Polish employees, farmers, entrepreneurs, all those who need support. Undoubtedly, there is a need for the swift adoption of a good solution. I have just spoken with Marshal Grodzki. I thank him for postponing the Senate session until tomorrow. Tomorrow, new solutions must be adopted in the Senate, a new law, which will be urgently sent to the Sejm, containing solutions that we have discussed with the ruling party, but also strengthened, firstly, in a substantive sense for the employee and employer, for Polish companies, for farms, for agritourism, for all who need support, for the Polish economy. It is very important for us not to differentiate companies into better and worse ones. It is not the size of the company, but the losses incurred by the company as a result of the coronavirus that are most important. And such a loss can affect a company with up to 9 employees. But also one that employs 10, 15, 20, or 200 people also incurs losses. And there, employee layoffs can be truly on a massive scale, so it's not the size of the company, but the loss of revenue, income, loss of financial liquidity, economic consequences are important for this company. What is happening today, the announcements of mass layoffs we are hearing, are terrifying. This requires great responsibility and prudence. Therefore, an end to the division into better and worse companies. It does not depend on the size how much a company will suffer from the coronavirus. So, this principle of voluntary social security contributions, not just for micro-entrepreneurs – stated Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz at a briefing before the Sejm.

- Matters related to the self-employed, an extremely important issue. They themselves wrote about it indignantly, that it is not income that should be decisive here, but precisely the degree of losses associated with the coronavirus is decisive, and everyone has suffered, really, most of the self-employed. Most industries are simply not functioning. The fund related to ensuring stable liquidity in companies. We submitted this postulate, Marshal Tyszka submitted it in the parliamentary debate, a very important issue. Without liquidity, a broad credit line from BGK, neither small, nor medium, nor large companies will survive. Liquidity is a guarantee of overcoming the crisis, and this must be a serious package – the PSL leader continued to say.

WKK:

The New Law Must Be Free of Electoral Gimmicks and Attacks on Social Dialogue in Poland

- This new law must naturally be free of, there can be no electoral gimmicks or attacks on social dialogue in Poland. This is the issue related to actions of an electoral nature, which PiS, in an unworthy and indecent manner, inserted at the last moment into a law intended to help employees and entrepreneurs. In reality, they showed their true colours, that it was solely about rigging the elections for themselves and freezing the Social Dialogue Council (RDS), eliminating social dialogue. We naturally did not agree to such regulations in the Sejm, and we will not agree to them being anywhere, because neither the time nor the place is right to talk about elections - stated Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz at a briefing in front of the Sejm.

- The Sejm is capable of adopting these solutions as early as tomorrow, perhaps even overnight, but it requires urgent work. I thank Marshal Grodzki once again for seeing such a need and for rescheduling, for accelerating the consideration period. This is an outstretched hand, and cooperation is now needed. I call on the ruling party for dialogue and discussion as soon as possible; this dialogue is necessary between all political forces - the PSL leader continued.

Kidawa-Błońska:

I Appeal Again to the Government to Postpone the Elections. They Must Not Be Held Now. We Must Not Disregard the Lives of Poles.
"Just two months ago, or a month ago, we didn't know that Poland, our country, all of us, would find ourselves in such a difficult situation. Today, Poles are thinking only of one thing: their health, their lives, how they will secure their financial situation. The times are truly very, very serious, which is why saying that elections can be held on May 10th is indecent. These elections cannot take place at this time. Elections require voters. People cannot come to the polls for fear of risking their lives and health. The Minister of Health says that the hardest part is still ahead of us. All the more reason why Poles should stay at home. I appeal again to the government that these elections must be postponed. Elections must not be held at this time. We must not disregard the lives of Polish women and men," said Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska, Civic Coalition's presidential candidate and Deputy Marshal, at a press conference.

Kidawa-Błońska Appeals to All Poles: Take Care of Your Families, Your Loved Ones, and Stay Home

"I appeal to all Poles. Take care of your families, your loved ones, and stay home, because your health and your life are the most important. The elections should take place at a different time, when you can exercise all your civic rights" - said Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska, candidate for President from the Civic Coalition and Deputy Marshal, at a press conference.

15:59

Kidawa-Błońska:

I Appeal to My Opponents. Now is the Time to Clearly, Loudly, and Unequivocally State That the Elections Cannot Be Held on May 10th

“I am also appealing to my opponents. This is probably the time for us to clearly and unequivocally say, loudly, that the elections cannot be held on May 10th,” said Civic Coalition presidential candidate and Deputy Marshal Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska at a press conference.

16:00

Kidawa-Błońska:

I am completely suspending my campaign. I will only focus on what I've been doing so far, I will fulfill the duties of a Member of Parliament.

I am completely suspending my campaign. I will only focus on what I've been doing so far, I will fulfill the duties of a Member of Parliament of the Republic. I believe that the elections will take place at a normal time, meaning a time when everyone can participate in them, when citizens can exercise their rights, and candidates can campaign. And in such elections, I will face my opponents. Today, let's boycott these elections. Poles, stay home. Your life is most important” - said Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska, Civic Coalition candidate for president and Deputy Marshal, at a press conference.

16:01

Kidawa-Błońska:

I'm Not Withdrawing My Candidacy, But Elections Must Be Held When Poles Can Actively Participate

"I clearly stated that I am not withdrawing my candidacy, but the elections must be held at a time when Poles can actively participate in them. Today, there is a state of threat. The government is appealing for everyone to stay home," stated Civic Coalition's presidential candidate and Deputy Marshal Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska at a press conference.

16:11

Kidawa-Błońska:

We Swore to Defend Poles' Rights, So Let's Defend Them, Not Demand They Sacrifice Their Lives Just Because Someone Insisted on Holding Elections at Such a Dangerous Time

„A politician running for president must care for Poles, not drag them out and expose them to danger. We swore to defend the rights of Poles, so let's defend them, not demand that they sacrifice their lives just because someone insisted on holding elections at such a dangerous time, when all organizations, all experts say that this is not the time for elections,” said Civic Coalition presidential candidate, Deputy Marshal Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska at a press conference.

16:13

Kidawa-Błońska:

Polls for All Opposition Candidates Aren't Great Because We're Not Campaigning, We Can't Communicate

"If I recall all the polls I've seen in recent months, I am in second place in all of them. Indeed, the polls for all opposition candidates are not the best because we are not campaigning, we cannot communicate, travel, or meet with voters. It is difficult to assess what it will look like on election day, but on election day, when each candidate will be able to campaign, and every Pole will have the chance to get to know the candidates' programs and talk with them, when everything returns to normal" - said Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska, Civic Coalition's presidential candidate and Deputy Marshal, at a press conference.

Gliński:

I think restrictions will have to be even more serious. The situation is grave. A difficult time awaits us, and we don't know when it will end.
This increase in infections was expected. Unfortunately, we expect an even greater increase in infections. We hold this general meeting every day, which is a meeting of the crisis management team. We are monitoring the situation. The situation remains very serious. There are also scattered infections, which means that unfortunately, the virus is spreading, despite the restrictions introduced in a timely, appropriately early manner. I think these restrictions will have to be even more serious. The situation is grave. A difficult time awaits us, and we don't know when it will end, and we all must be responsible. Hence our constant appeals, let's repeat them all the time. We must primarily ensure isolation, which must be maintained everywhere - stated Piotr Gliński in an interview with Polsat News. Isolation must be maintained in shops, at workplaces, and on public transport. We have imposed a certain rigor, and it must be observed unconditionally - continued the Deputy Prime Minister.

17:25

Gliński:

Nothing is Over, Nothing is Optimistic, I'll Say It Straight. We Should Rather Expect a Deepening of Various Problems

- Unfortunately, over this weekend, rather large gatherings, perhaps not crowds, but concentrations of people appeared in various public places. We must be very careful. Nothing is over, nothing is optimistic, I'll say it straight. We should rather expect a deepening of various problems, because that's how it is everywhere around us, and we see and observe it. We will most likely have to, as I say, introduce more rigorous administrative regulations, strict measures. This applies to all of us - stated Piotr Gliński in an interview with Polsat News.

- They will be sooner [than next week]. It's not about fines. It's about the fact that we must introduce administrative restrictions in workplaces, in shops. We cannot break the rules we talk about. There must be this distance - the Deputy Prime Minister continued.

17:32

Obajtek:

We are allocating another PLN 60 million to fight the coronavirus

The CEO of PKN Orlen, Daniel Obajtek, announced on Twitter that the company will donate another PLN 60 million to combat the coronavirus pandemic. This is in addition to the previous PLN 100 million allocated for this purpose.

"We are continuing our support for the fight against COVID-19," wrote Obajtek on his Twitter account. He emphasized that the funds will be used to purchase medical equipment, personal protective equipment for healthcare workers, and to support research and development of diagnostic tests and vaccines.

The donation is part of Orlen Group's broader CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) strategy, which aims to support society in times of crisis. The company has also been involved in other initiatives, such as providing free fuel for ambulances and donating disinfectants to hospitals.

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on the Polish economy and society. The government and businesses are working together to mitigate the effects of the crisis and to protect public health. Orlen's contribution is a significant step in this collective effort.

Hołownia:

It's Clear the Elections Shouldn't and Cannot Take Place on May 10th. But Calling for a Boycott Today Proves How We're All Letting Ourselves Be Blackmailed by Kaczyński, Who Patiently Awaits an Inevitable Decision
It's obvious, it's clear, that the elections shouldn't and cannot take place on May 10th. But calling for a boycott today proves how we are all letting ourselves be blackmailed by Jarosław Kaczyński, who is patiently waiting to make an inevitable decision. After all, without a single shot, without a single move on his part, he can now watch as some candidates want to withdraw their candidacies, others boycott the elections, others capitulate in a different way, and still others plunge into factional infighting, bleeding each other dry. It is not the citizens who should declare their resignation from their constitutional rights today. It is the authorities who should declare their resignation from their madness today. Today is the time to act together, not to surrender individually – stated Szymon Hołownia in a recording published on social media. Such scenes, as those that occurred in the opposition a few days ago in the Sejm, cannot happen. Today, a meeting of opposition presidential candidates was supposed to take place. Two of them decided in the meantime to form their own pact, alliance, and play primarily for themselves, for their own leadership. Not in Poland, but within their own parties, which are supposed to win in 2023 – he continued. https://twitter.com/szymon_holownia/status/1244286300716503040

17:54

Hołownia to the Opposition: "Please, tomorrow, introduce just one amendment so you don't have a chance to argue about it. Remove the electoral monstrosity from the anti-crisis package."

- Tomorrow, the Senate will debate the anti-crisis shield, the anti-crisis package. We all know that this shield is leaky, that it won't solve any significant long-term problems for Poles, but let this money flow to the people already, let them receive something from the state, for which they have strived so hard, paying taxes for years - stated Szymon Hołownia in a recording published on social media.

- Therefore, dear opposition, please, tomorrow introduce just one amendment, so you don't have a chance to argue about it. So that you don't have a chance to spoil this unity that is so needed today. One amendment. Remove from the anti-crisis package this electoral monstrosity, which we agree is, firstly, illegal, and secondly, unnecessary for anyone, not solving any real problems faced by millions of Poles who are in a very difficult situation today, whose lives have been on the edge from one day to the next. Let's show that we can act together, we cannot be blackmailed. We must maintain our agency even in difficult times. It is essential if we are truly to take responsibility for those who are worst off today, and not drown in further party disputes - he continued.

Sasin:

Currently, There Are No Grounds to Postpone the Elections

- We believe that at this moment there are indeed no grounds to postpone these [presidential] elections, and this is such a dramatic move by Madam Marshal [Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska], who is clearly not doing well in this election campaign – stated Jacek Sasin in an interview with Robert Bernatowicz on Polsat News's "Gość Wydarzeń".

20:09

Sasin:

There is no need today to introduce even stricter restrictions

- There is no need today to introduce even stricter restrictions. Today, we must adhere to the regulations we have already implemented, and these regulations state that gathering in public places is prohibited, and that one can only be in public places in situations essential for life, such as shopping or going to work. Some form of recreation can also be undertaken, but only in groups of no more than two people and only once a day - stated Jacek Sasin in an interview with Robert Bernatowicz on Polsat News' "Gość Wydarzeń" program.

Increased Patrols and Inspections by Public Services, Police. We May Also Want to Deploy Soldiers to Police Teams to Enforce Existing, Rather Strict Regulations

- There will also be intensified patrols and inspections by public services, the police. Perhaps we will also want to add soldiers to these police teams, so as to effectively enforce the existing regulations, which are quite strict. And I think there is no need to introduce further restrictions today - stated Jacek Sasin in an interview with Robert Bernatowicz on "Gość Wydarzeń" on Polsat News.
