- The word 'terror' would be entirely inappropriate. The next two weeks will be the most important, all the more so because they will be a great test for the state. We must organize, and have already organized, a large operation for Poles to return to Poland. On the other hand, we face a challenge no less significant, which is placing tens of thousands, and perhaps even a larger group, under quarantine - stated Jarosław Gowin in a conversation with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego".

Tomorrow the Council of Ministers will be dedicated to this issue [of coronavirus]. Everything indicates that we will adopt a package of solutions that will allow Polish companies, with the least possible losses, because there will be losses, to navigate this Red Sea - stated Jarosław Gowin in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego". This will certainly include improving liquidity, deferring various public-law liabilities, and finally a whole series of actions aimed at the labor market, meaning on the one hand, protecting employees, and on the other hand, a reinvestment package that will stimulate the activity of Polish companies - the Deputy Prime Minister continued. Tomorrow, Minister Emilewicz, the Minister of Finance, and above all Prime Minister Morawiecki will present concrete solutions. Today, I would not like to reveal details, because they may change almost hour by hour - he noted.

- Only from Friday have we actually implemented restrictions that stop transmission between people, or at least partially stop it. Therefore, this growth dynamics [of infections], I hope that next week when patients with infections start appearing on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, considering the incubation period is about a week, that this dynamics will be a bit lower and we will avoid the Italian model – said Łukasz Szumowski in an interview with Katarzyna Gójska on "Sygnały dnia" on Polish Radio One.

- We are doing what we believe to be most appropriate. Hospitals designated for individuals infected with coronavirus, where there are 10 percent respirator beds, are measures that I hope will allow us to get through the period of greatest [infection] intensity in a coordinated and calmer manner, which will likely be in two to three weeks, said Łukasz Szumowski in an interview with Katarzyna Gójska on Polskie Radio Jedynka's "Sygnały dnia".

With absolute certainty, the pace of growth that we predicted and that rating agencies predicted will be unsustainable. It seems inevitable that the Eurozone will enter a recession. Whether the Polish economy will also enter a recession? It is too early to judge. For now, we believe that the pace of economic growth will be slower, but it will still be growth. Development, not the contraction of the economy - stated Jarosław Gowin in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego" program.

- Obviously, these will be decisions that require Sejm or parliamentary legitimacy. It is undeniable to me that a budget correction will be necessary, and therefore we will not avoid budget votes or votes on a series of legislative changes – stated Jarosław Gowin in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego".

- I regret to say that this remark confirms my belief that MP Krynicka should not be treated as an authority on public affairs, even on medical matters. It would be difficult to imagine in today's atmosphere, but there are still almost two months until the elections. We have to wait for the situation to develop. Postponing the presidential election is a last resort, and I think that as a government, and more importantly, as a state and its citizens, we will begin to consider a decision on this matter at the beginning of April - stated Jarosław Gowin in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego".

- The President, as he does every Sunday, participated in Holy Mass. As for precautions, from what I know, in this particular church, there were also designated areas, and the number of people participating in Holy Mass was counted. - Opposition politicians can, in this situation, help the camp that is governing and fighting on the front line against coronavirus at the moment. Help, get involved, participate, unite. - Take the hospital in Garwolin and the President's visit to this hospital as an example, and the spreading of fake news that a PiS activist disguised himself as a doctor, when the truth is that he is a doctor - Sobolewski added.

“Intensive work continued over the weekend. The Ministry headed by Ms. Emilewicz is leading. These works are coordinated by Prime Minister Morawiecki, and tomorrow he will present the pact project to the Council of Ministers, after which it will be made public. I hope that, as we have in recent days, we will be able to continue to talk calmly and substantively. „We do not rule out, and no one can rule out, that in a week, two, three, or a month’s time, there will be a situation where one of the states of emergency provided for in Polish regulations will need to be introduced” - he added.

Why am I thanking you? Because as the Minister of National Defence, I am responsible for security. This is the only way to slow the spread of the virus, using precisely these methods. Marshals would act each on their own. This would undoubtedly lead to regional fragmentation, with each voivodeship operating differently. There would be no coordination, there would be chaos. - Discussions are indeed ongoing [regarding the Polish delegation's trip to Smolensk on April 10th]. However, I believe a final decision on the matter will be made this week. The public will be informed. "In my opinion, if I first state that public authorities should be criticized very carefully and not through public channels, but by communicating directly to institutions, because they will make mistakes and must receive feedback. If I state that new responsibility requires a different style of communication, it means that conditions for a normal election campaign do not exist. - As you know, we currently have 150 individuals with confirmed coronavirus results. We have approximately 800 hospitalizations and around 8,000 people in quarantine, as decided by the sanitary inspection. Tens of thousands are returning to the country and are under quarantine. As I said, this number will certainly grow in the coming week. It will grow at a similar pace as it has in other European countries. The serious decisions we've made in recent days will show their effects in 7-10 days. Limiting contact between people and reducing virus transmission will result in a decrease in the rate of growth of the virus that has entered the human body, undergone incubation, and is starting to manifest as illness, within the next 7-10 days. This will give us a chance for therapy and treatment of patients who need it - stated Łukasz Szumowski at a press conference.

- There is no issue more important than the health of Poles and stopping the coronavirus. That is the first step. The second – aid for entrepreneurs, employees, and saving the economy. On this, not on campaigning, we must focus – both the opposition and the ruling party. First, the most important matters, elections in the autumn – wrote Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz in a Twitter post.

- I appeal to Andrzej Duda, Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska, Robert Biedroń, Szymon Hołownia, Krzysztof Bosak for a clear, common stance. Let us show that in the face of threat, when it comes to the health, life, and livelihood of Poles, we can stand in solidarity above divisions – added the leader of the PSL.

- We currently have a network of infectious disease, single-profile hospitals. How it works. Each voivodeship has at least one such hospital. Voivodes have issued decisions or orders in accordance with the special act on transforming this hospital into a single-profile infectious disease hospital. This decision, this network, has now been approved. Personal protective equipment will be delivered to each of these hospitals today. Regardless of the fact that there are currently few patients in these hospitals, each hospital will receive 1000 suits, 1000 masks, and an appropriate number of goggles – stated Łukasz Szumowski at a press conference.

- As of today, we will have 19 laboratories conducting tests. Additionally, Białystok, Bydgoszcz, the Institute of Cardiology in Warsaw, Kraków, and UCK in Gdańsk are joining. This means an increase in testing capacity to approximately 3,000 per day. Simultaneously, we are conducting more and more of these tests. As the number of potentially infected patients increases, the number of tests performed also grows. When Poland enters the stage of horizontal transmission, not as dramatically pronounced as elsewhere yet, but we certainly have horizontal virus transmission in Poland, then truly most patients who report with symptoms will have tests performed - stated Łukasz Szumowski at a press conference.

- In the coming week, I expect we will have over 1,000 patients with positive COVID results. This number will grow rapidly. Today we had another 25 positive results. There will likely be more by the evening. I hope this growth rate will slow down at some point, giving us time to react, to treat patients - stated Łukasz Szumowski at a press conference.

- The government is certainly trying and we definitely see that there are ideas. For example, regarding the involvement of PLL LOT. In the last few dozen hours, 22,000 Polish women and men have signed up wanting to take advantage of these flights offered by Polish Airlines. I know there are problems with this too. We appeal for ticket prices, for example, not to include class, because today Poles cannot be divided into classes – said Robert Biedroń during a press conference in front of the Chancellery of the Prime Minister.

- An important issue concerns Great Britain. As we know, the government of Great Britain, Boris Johnson's government, has taken incomprehensible steps that differ from most European countries. Decisive actions to combat coronavirus are not being taken there. We know that a million Poles reside there, and we would like to receive information from Mr. Prime Minister Morawiecki on whether he has spoken with Prime Minister Johnson and how those conversations went - said Robert Biedroń during a press conference before the Chancellery of the Prime Minister (KPRM).

These trips around Poland, these meetings, can also put both the president and others at risk – said Robert Biedroń during a press conference in front of the Prime Minister's Chancellery.

„The Constitution does not simply allow for the postponement of elections. The term of the current president ends around July and August. These elections have already been called by the Marshal of the Sejm. All deadlines stemming from the law are currently being met” – said PiS MEP and spokesperson for Andrzej Duda's campaign, Adam Bielan, in an interview with Łukasz Rogojsz on gazeta.pl.

„The only possibility is to introduce one of the states of emergency. I want to make all opposition supporters who are demanding the introduction of a [state of] emergency aware that this means a limitation of civil rights and freedoms. I don't know if this is a solution that should be introduced solely to postpone the election date” – he added.

The CEO of PKN Orlen, Daniel Obajtek, announced on Twitter that a decision has been made to significantly reduce fuel prices at the company's stations.

"We have decided on the maximum reduction of fuel prices at Orlen stations," wrote Daniel Obajtek on his Twitter account.

He added that this measure is aimed at alleviating the financial burden on Polish citizens during this challenging time.

The announcement comes amidst growing concerns about the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and its effect on the cost of living.

Orlen, as a major fuel retailer in Poland, plays a significant role in the country's energy market, and price changes at its stations can have a noticeable impact on consumers.

„These two weeks, during which schools, cultural, and sports facilities are closed, are meant for staying at home and for trying to limit social contact. If we manage to do this effectively, we may be able to flatten the curve of rising coronavirus infections. And that is precisely the government's goal. We are cooperating with the government on this matter. The appeal is for those who can, to stay at home, and to behave rationally. We see on the city streets that the vast majority of Warsaw residents have heeded these appeals” - said the Mayor of the Capital City of Warsaw, Rafał Trzaskowski, at a press conference.

"We are reporting all our needs to the voivodeship office. For many days now. This concerns above all the needs of city hospitals. We count on this cooperation to be very good. At this moment, we would like the work on the part of the government to be accelerated regarding the supply of necessary equipment to Warsaw hospitals, especially personal protective equipment" – said the Mayor of the Capital City of Warsaw, Rafał Trzaskowski, at a press conference.

“We have implemented measures that, on the one hand, encourage people to maintain a safer distance from each other. On the other hand, quarantine, and thirdly, contact tracing and border closures to stop the influx of the virus from abroad. The majority of cases at all times are individuals either from quarantine, who have indeed had contact with infected individuals, or people arriving from abroad. We must stop the coronavirus in this way,” Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said at a press conference. 

“In each of the voivodeships, we are designating a hospital unit solely dedicated to treating individuals with coronavirus. This is in case the number of sick people significantly increases. Unfortunately, we cannot rule this out. We see what is happening in Western European countries and we approach reality with humility. We took many steps as the first, or among the first in Europe. This is highly praised by all experts worldwide. However, we do not know how this disease will develop here. It may happen that in a few days, there will be hundreds, perhaps even up to a thousand cases. We must build and adapt healthcare infrastructure to the needs of a larger number of infections” – said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki at a press conference. 

- We are working on a stability and security package. This package is necessary because we realize that a lot of sectors will suffer. The entire Polish, global, and in particular European economy will certainly feel the impact of the fight against the coronavirus epidemic. Therefore, I want to emphasize that in the coming days we will present specific actions that the government has developed and for which we will still be finalizing the final details, so that both employees on one side and employers on the other will receive some support from the state - stated Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki at a press conference.

„Currently, 25,000 people in Poland are under epidemiological surveillance, and 8,000 are in quarantine. I want to thank all Poles, because it is clearly visible that they are following the procedures in a very disciplined manner. “I want to thank healthcare workers. Such thanks are never too much. We are doing everything to supply you with the necessary protective materials. I would like there to be an abundance of them. We are working so that in the next few days there will be more than enough of these materials, so that there will be no need to report daily needs to ARM. Today, we are still operating in a shortage economy of protective materials, but they are always available. - Today, there are no plans to postpone the presidential election date. There is no necessity for it. We know that, for example, local elections were held in France, and France today is in a different state than Poland. Therefore, we do not have such plans at the moment – stated Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki at a press conference.

"Let this week be a week of national quarantine, a nationwide quarantine. - These are the first Polish elections held under the shadow of an epidemic. An absolutely exceptional situation, requiring bold actions and decisions, but also care and empathy. - President Andrzej Duda held a phone conversation with the President of Italy, Sergio Mattarella. President Duda conveyed his solidarity to the Italian nation, which is in a particularly difficult situation due to the coronavirus pandemic. The presidents discussed concrete actions that should be taken at the European level, both concerning the ongoing fight against the disease and addressing the economic crisis that may result from the pandemic. The presidents emphasized that this is a major test for the European Union, European empathy, and mutual relations between nations - the Chancellery of the President informed.

Today, PAD also spoke with the President of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier. - The presidents agreed that only decisive actions by state authorities can support the containment of increasing infections. The presidents exchanged information on the epidemiological situation in both countries and the security of medical services. The presidents agreed to maintain constant working contact regarding the epidemic. The presidents also discussed the potential consequences of the epidemic for the European economy. The President appealed for the facilitation of passage through Germany for Poles returning home - the Head of the Presidential Cabinet, Krzysztof Szczerski, informed 300POLITYKA.
