Wednesday's Political Agenda: Prime Minister Meets with Voivodes and Voivodeship City Presidents, President Duda in Szczecin and at the Kołbaskowo Border Crossing

Another meeting of the government crisis management team has been convened for 9:00 AM, as announced by Minister Michał Dworczyk. A press conference following the meeting is scheduled for 10:00 AM.

Today, the announced meeting between the Prime Minister and local authorities is expected to take place, involving both the 16 voivodes and the presidents of voivodeship cities. The discussion is intended to focus on additional security measures being implemented in connection with the coronavirus epidemic.

At 2:30 PM, at the Drawsko Land Forces Training Center, President Andrzej Duda and the Minister of National Defence, Mariusz Błaszczak, will meet with Polish and American soldiers participating in the DEFENDER-Europe 20 exercise. Also today, President Duda will visit the Voivodeship Office in Szczecin to be briefed on the voivodeship's actions concerning the fight against coronavirus, and will also visit a sanitary control point at the border in Kołbaskowo.

The President's meeting with the West Pomeranian Voivode and representatives of the services regarding the voivodeship's preparations for the fight against coronavirus will begin at 6:00 PM, with a statement by President Duda to the media scheduled for 6:45 PM. At 7:20 PM, the President will visit the sanitary control point at the border in Kołbaskowo.

A press conference by Robert Biedroń will be held at 9:00 AM, where an anti-crisis action plan (protection of employees and employers, protection of medical personnel, countering a potential economic crisis) in connection with the coronavirus epidemic will be presented.

At 10:00 AM, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz will meet with representatives of organizations representing entrepreneurs. The topic: Kosiniak's anti-crisis package. The Confederation's presidential candidate, Krzysztof Bosak, plans to organize three press conferences: at 11:00 AM in Grudziądz, at 2:00 PM in Iława, and at 6:00 PM in Elbląg.

Arłukowicz on Coronavirus: I have the impression the government overslept, woke up, and is now rubbing its eyes in surprise at what's happening.

- I have the impression the government overslept, woke up, and is now rubbing its eyes in surprise at what's happening. Let me remind you that Germany conducted over 200,000 tests for potential patients. In Poland, only 2,000 tests have been performed. This past week was critical for Poland when the government and the president were occupied with the 2 billion [PLN] for Public Television. During that time, the coronavirus crossed Poland's borders, entering Poland unchecked. This was the critical moment when the government should have already been reacting, but instead, it wasn't reacting because it was busy with TVP and Jacek Kurski - stated Bartosz Arłukowicz in an interview with Monika Olejnik on TVN24's "One on One".

07:56

Arłukowicz:

Is it true that General Mika, upon returning from Germany, walked around Rzepin, greeting people? Is it true that he was at church, at the cemetery, and today terror reigns in Rzepin. These people are calling us from there and raising the alarm

- These are cases that require answers from the Prime Minister and the Minister of Health, because I hear Minister Dworczyk assuring that General Mika did not contact the President or important state officials. But we are interested in something else. Did General Mika contact the residents of Rzepin? Because we are hearing alarming information, flowing precisely from Rzepin, that people are being quarantined, and these are the questions we want answers to. Is it true that General Mika, upon returning from Germany, walked around Rzepin, greeting people? Is it true that he was at church, at the cemetery, and today terror reigns in Rzepin. These people are calling us from there and raising the alarm - stated Bartosz Arłukowicz in an interview with Monika Olejnik on TVN24's "Jeden na jeden".

08:04

Arłukowicz to the President: Please Maintain Some Standards. State Services Handle Border Crossings, Airports, and Train Stations – They Don't Need Presidential "House Calls"

- I'm reading that the President is heading to Szczecin in the coming days, and it's precisely because of this that Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska and I have cancelled our trip to the West Pomeranian Voivodeship, aiming to avoid large gatherings and ensure the safety of Poles. We cannot prioritize political interests over safety, and yesterday we made a joint, albeit very difficult, decision to simply cancel these large, mass gatherings. Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska returned yesterday from the Lublin Voivodeship because we cancelled those meetings to prioritize safety, and today the President, effectively using the coronavirus as an argument, I hear, is going to Szczecin to inspect border crossings. It is not the role of the President, who is currently campaigning, to inspect border crossings or their state of readiness; that is the role of state services, which must carry out these duties. And I would ask the President to maintain a certain kind of standard. State services are responsible for inspecting border crossings, airports, and PKP train stations, and they do not need presidential "house calls" - stated Bartosz Arłukowicz in an interview with Monika Olejnik on TVN24's "Jeden na jeden".

08:08

Arłukowicz:

We've decided to cancel large, mass gatherings. We will now focus on social media
- We need to reframe this campaign. Yesterday we had a very serious meeting. We discussed how to conduct the campaign so that it is safe for Polish women and men, while at the same time these elections must take place in Poland. So we have decided to cancel these large, mass gatherings. We will now focus on social media channels. We are thinking here about Facebook, Twitter, live chats, television broadcasts, and meetings in much smaller groups. For matters that require intervention or a statement of opinion from the presidential candidate, but not surrounded by a large number of people - stated Bartosz Arłukowicz in an interview with Monika Olejnik on "One on One" TVN24.

Karczewski on Kidawa-Błońska's Suggestions Regarding Hiding Coronavirus Cases: She Unnecessarily Stirs Poles' Emotions

"The Marshal [Kidawa-Błońska] unnecessarily stirs Poles' emotions in this way [by suggesting that the government hid coronavirus cases]. The government has been working very intensely. This work was done and it is ongoing. I am talking with the Chief Sanitary Inspector, with Minister Szumowski. They sleep only a few hours because they are extremely committed. They are analyzing very thoroughly, making decisions and informing," said Senate Vice-Marshal Stanisław Karczewski from PiS in an interview with Paweł Lisicki on Radio Trójka.

08:36

Emilewicz:

Based on January and February data, the Ministry of Finance sees no revenue drop compared to projections.

- Based on data from January and February, the Ministry of Finance does not see a drop in revenue compared to what was assumed. This year's budget revenues for January and February are higher than last year's. We need a basis to amend the [budget]. We are monitoring this situation on an ongoing basis - said Jadwiga Emilewicz in an interview with Marek Pyza on TVP1's "Political Fifteen Minutes".

08:42

Emilewicz on Economic Special Act Regarding Coronavirus: We Would Like to Have a Draft Bill by Wednesday. If the Opposition Has Its Own Proposals, We Are Also Ready to Listen and Accept Them

- We would like to have a draft bill by Wednesday. As I said, we are preparing it together with the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK), the Ministry of Finance, Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego (BGK), all government representatives. If the opposition is interested, if it has its own proposals, we are also ready to listen and accept them. So that, on the 25th, when there is a session, the act goes to the Sejm - said Jadwiga Emilewicz in a conversation with Marek Pyza on TVP1's "Political Quarter Hour".

08:46

Emilewicz:

The Food Production Industry is Operating at Approximately 80% Capacity. We Still Have the Potential to Produce More. There's No Need for Excessive Purchases
I would like to appeal for common sense and caution. The entire production industry, we are in contact with it, the food production industry in Poland is operating at approximately 80% of its production capacity. We still have the potential to produce more. Resources and reserves are truly available in Poland today. There is no need to make impulsive, excessive purchases - said Jadwiga Emilewicz in an interview with Marek Pyza on TVP1's "Political Quarter of an Hour".

09:48

Kosiniak-Kamysz:

I Expect Immediate Decisions from the Rulers. If Mass Events Are Banned, the Government Has All the Tools to Immediately Decide on Closing Schools

The situation is becoming increasingly serious and the dynamics of events are accelerating. I expect immediate decisions from the rulers, to be honest. I said this yesterday. Today it is already necessary. If they are banning mass events for up to 500 people, then they must also immediately decide on schools, because schools sometimes have more than 500 people with children, teachers, and everyone who works there. If mass events are banned, then the government has all the instruments, all the knowledge, and has been granted such broad powers by the law that it must make a decision immediately” - said Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, leader of the Polish People's Party (PSL) and the Polish Coalition's presidential candidate, in an interview with Iwona Kutyna on Onet Rano.

09:57

Arłukowicz:

This Week Was Critical for Poland, When the Entire Government and President Focused on 2 Billion for TVP While Europe Prepared for the Coronavirus Impact
"A critical moment for Poland was precisely this week, when the entire government and president were preoccupied with 2 billion for TVP, while all of Europe was preparing to confront the coronavirus. And it was then that the coronavirus crossed Poland's borders and spread. Now the Polish government is waking up and seeing that it is spreading and flowing across the whole of Poland," said Bartosz Arłukowicz from the Civic Coalition, head of Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska's campaign, in an interview with Iwona Kutyna on Onet Rano.

10:11

Bortniczuk:

If I were in Ms. Turczynowicz-Kieryłło's shoes, I would seriously consider withdrawing from the campaign

- Indeed, it happens that sometimes individuals who seem to have an absolutely unequivocally positive biography and would be a breath of fresh air in politics encounter a very hard wall in this politics. That was the case with Szymon Hołownia, who started his campaign with a false start and made an unsavory reference to Smolensk. This is partly the case with Ms. Turczynowicz-Kieryłło - stated Kamil Bortniczuk in an interview with Grzegorz Sroczyński on Gazeta.pl's Morning Interview.

- If I were in Ms. Turczynowicz-Kieryłło's place, I would seriously consider whether now is not the time, also in connection with the coronavirus, with the fact that the campaign is heading in different directions, that there will be significantly fewer events to organize, fewer direct meetings... If I were in Ms. Turczynowicz-Kieryłło's place, I would seriously consider withdrawing from this campaign and seriously focusing on defending her good name, because it will also be very important from her perspective for her future professional career as a lawyer operating in the market - he continued.

Gliński:

Government Decides to Suspend Cultural Institutions: Theaters, Opera Houses, Philharmonics, Museums, Cinemas, and Cinema Chains

- The government has decided to suspend the operations of cultural institutions: theaters, opera houses, philharmonics, as well as museums. Also cinemas and cinema chains, and art universities and schools. Starting tomorrow, all these institutions will cease their activities in areas that involve the gathering of large numbers of people. Of course, some scientific work in museums can be continued - said Piotr Gliński during a press conference at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister.

11:16

PM:

I speak with EU Prime Ministers daily and can truly assure you that our actions are very often copied

- Regarding the statements of the German Chancellor, she mentioned this [the possible high number of infected German citizens] to me during our bilateral conversation. I speak with EU Prime Ministers daily and can truly assure you that our actions are very often copied by others, which indicates that we are very deeply immersed in analyzing the entire state of reality and finding appropriate responses - said Mateusz Morawiecki during a press conference at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister.

Considering the situation of citizens and entrepreneurs related to the coronavirus epidemic, I intend to urgently come up with an initiative to develop solutions mitigating the effects of credit repayment obligations.

We will work on a special act for entrepreneurs and employees

Wicepremier i minister rozwoju, pracy i technologii Jarosław Gowin zapowiedział prace nad specustawą dla przedsiębiorców i pracowników w obliczu pandemii koronawirusa.

11:38

Szumowski:

This is not a time for holidays, free time. It is a time for our society's quarantine

- As of today, we have 25 people who have confirmed coronavirus infections - stated Łukasz Szumowski at a press conference at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister (KPRM).

- A huge and urgent appeal to everyone who, like the Prime Minister, will not be going to school or university for the next 14 days. This is not a time for holidays, for free time. This mistake was made in Italy. Young people who were not attending school went out to clubs, social gatherings, restaurants. This is essentially a time for our society's quarantine. It is a time when we should spend at home, in isolation, trying not to get infected and not to infect others. It is about us taking this risk seriously - he continued.

11:55

Karczewski:

We Appeal to Grodzki to Resign. We Appeal to the PSL to Withdraw Support for the Marshal

- We would like to appeal to Marshal Tomasz Grodzki to resign from his position. It is evident that this position is beyond the Marshal's capabilities. From the very beginning, during every session, numerous conferences have featured statements that negatively influence the perception not only of the Senate itself but of the entire Senate, which has a 30-year history in independent Poland. We appeal to the Marshal to step down from this role, to resign, because recently. I am referring to the period associated with the coronavirus epidemic; the Marshal has been behaving inappropriately. This is a very delicate term, but one could say nonchalantly. This skiing trip occurred during the time and period when the main debate was taking place in the Sejm - stated Stanisław Karczewski at a briefing in the Senate.

- The Marshal went skiing, hiding it for a long time, not mentioning it, because in fact, no one here in the Senate spoke about it. Not only that, but the first signals about convening a session concerned a later date. [The session] of the health committee was informed that it would only take place on Monday, because the Marshal wanted to finish his skiing holiday. However, it is most likely that he was forced by his party superiors to hold the Senate session earlier. Marshal Grodzki, as far as we know, we have this information, did not want to fill out the location card - he continued.

- If the Marshal downplays this appeal, then we are directing another appeal to the leader of the PSL. After all, the Marshal was elected with the votes of the PSL, and we appeal to leader Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz to withdraw support for Marshal Grodzki, to withdraw from this misguided support for a bad Marshal, who himself breaks the regulations he previously signs - emphasized the Deputy Marshal of the Senate.

12:04

Kaznowska:

We Need Very Clear Instructions for School Principals on How to Act in Cases of Confirmed or Suspected Coronavirus

The government has decided that educational institutions will be suspended for a period of two weeks. We are very pleased with this decision. President Rafał Trzaskowski appealed yesterday to the Mazovian Voivode to make such a decision and for the Voivode and everyone to implement the provisions arising from this special coronavirus law within the framework of the special act on coronavirus. This is what we were missing. We will use this time to prepare, because 2 weeks is both a lot and a little. It will be a time to replenish supplies for schools. Even now, schools are reporting huge problems with purchasing antiseptics to me. Supplies are running out. They will last for two to four days,” said Renata Kaznowska, Deputy Mayor of Warsaw, at a press conference.

Instructions for action. Principals do not know how they should behave in a situation where an infection is confirmed or suspected. We need very clear instructions for principals. I hope that over the next 2 weeks, the educational authorities and the Ministry of Health will prepare such instructions for school principals and other educational institutions,” she added.

Jaśkowiak on Protective Suits and Masks: We Have Three Days' Worth of Reserves. Medical Staff Will Refuse to Work if We Don't Have Them

“The issue of protective suits and masks. We have reserves for three days. We urgently need these suits and masks because medical staff will refuse to continue working if we do not have them. The second problem is that the National Health Fund (NFZ) must, urgently and immediately, allow the reallocation of funds designated as lump sums for various hospital departments, which we are currently redirecting to fight the coronavirus, i.e., to infectious disease wards” – explained the Mayor of Poznań, Jacek Jaśkowiak.

12:04

Zdanowska:

We Appeal to Postpone the Implementation of the Act on Unified Administration Regarding Sanitary Services

We appeal for the best possible cooperation with the voivodes. This cooperation varies from city to city. We know that from April 1st, a legal change regarding the so-called unified administration in the scope of sanitary services will come into effect. We appeal that, perhaps due to the current situation, it would be beneficial if the government, on an urgent basis, or perhaps parliament, extended the period for its entry into force. We cannot imagine taking the risk at this moment that changes related to subordination and the transfer of services to other hands would cause any disruptions” - said the Mayor of Łódź, Hanna Zdanowska.

12:05

Dulkiewicz:

It's important to implement special act regulations. As city leaders, we issue permits for mass events, but we have no legal basis to revoke them.

"We are looking forward to the meeting with Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki with hope. We are a strong force because the problem affects the whole of Poland. It is important to implement the regulations of the special act, which was passed quickly and above party divisions. It is in this spirit that we want to meet with Prime Minister Morawiecki. It is difficult today to say that we are cancelling mass events through a press conference held by one person or another. Specific legal acts are needed for that. We, as city leaders, issue permits for mass events, and today we have no legal basis to revoke permits already issued" - appealed the President of Gdańsk, Aleksandra Dulkiewicz.

Kidawa-Błońska Requests Sejm Convene Tomorrow to Work on Bill Regarding Compensation for Parents of Primary School Children

The situation in our country is very serious. The government has announced the closure of schools, nurseries, and kindergartens. This is a difficult decision, but it should be followed by others, because Polish families must feel secure, and the awareness that they will not receive reimbursement for staying with their children when they are older than 8 years old causes great anxiety. A 9 or 10-year-old child should also be under parental care. That is why we are preparing a solution that will allow Poles to feel secure. We propose that parents of all primary school children receive full, 100 percent compensation,”

said KO's presidential candidate, Deputy Marshal Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska, at a press conference.

It is important to implement this quickly, which is why today I am submitting a request to Marshal Witek to urgently convene the Sejm tomorrow, so that we can provide the government with the tools to implement these solutions. The matter is serious and we must act quickly,”

she added.

12:16

Kidawa-Błońska:

The President Showed That Anyone Can Deceive Him. The Fact That Kurski Continues to Work in Television and Will Dictate Its Tone is a Presidential Failure

The President should not be haggling over positions in public television. Competent, fact-based individuals who strive to implement the public media act, where a mission is being fulfilled, should work there. The President has shown that anyone can deceive him. The fact that Mr. Kurski continues to work in television, remains a specialist, and will continue to dictate the tone of how these media should look, is a failure of the President. It's a shame he succumbed so easily and allowed himself to be deceived by his associates” – said Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska, KO's presidential candidate and Deputy Marshal, at a press conference.

Kosiniak-Kamysz After Meeting with Entrepreneurs: I Urge the Government to Take Swift and Radical Action

The current situation compels us to take swift and radical action related to health security. I urge the government to take these actions because, despite everything, these are difficult decisions. The government has all the tools and possibilities granted by parliament in a special act to make such a decision. The tourism sector, including passenger transport, accounts for 12-13% of Poland's GDP. And these sectors are the most exposed to losses” - said Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, leader of the Polish People's Party (PSL) and presidential candidate, after a meeting with representatives of industries most likely to be affected by the coronavirus epidemic.

Dworczyk after PM's meeting with city mayors: A productive, substantive discussion raised numerous questions and suggestions, including a proposal to completely close borders

In the current situation we find ourselves in, we must, in particular, work across political divides for the good and safety of our country’s residents. The discussion was substantive. The Prime Minister presented information, and the ministers provided updates on the latest decisions, including the suspension of educational institutions and the ban on mass events” - said the Head of the Prime Minister's Chancellery, Minister Michał Dworczyk, after the Prime Minister's meeting with the mayors of Polish cities.

During a good, substantive discussion, numerous questions arose, as well as suggestions and proposals, some of them very far-reaching from the mayors, including a proposal to completely close the borders, similar to what Israel has done. These are very far-reaching proposals” - he added.

PM after meeting with Voivodeship Marshals and Mayors of Largest Cities: We Agreed That Protecting the Polish Economy, Citizen Health, and Ensuring the Normal Functioning of State Institutions are a Priority
We have just concluded a meeting with the voivodeship marshals and mayors of the largest cities. We all agreed that protecting the Polish economy, citizen health, and ensuring the normal functioning of state institutions are a priority. We will react promptly and inform the public about further steps. Let us remember that Poland's history teaches us one thing – divided, we are vulnerable to external threats, but united in a common struggle, we have always emerged victorious from all trials we have faced as a nation - wrote Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki on Facebook.

14:19

Jaśkowiak:

Poland has conducted 2024 tests, Germany 200,000. Many local government officials believe the main problem is undiagnosed cases.

- We see an acceleration in the government's actions, because the most important issue for us was the closure of schools, essentially bringing about a situation to stop the spread of this virus, but we also presented a number of other demands. Today, it's a matter of a series of problems, primarily the lack of adequate masks and the prevailing mood - stated Jacek Jaśkowiak at a briefing in front of the Chancellery of the Prime Minister.

- In Poland, according to the information I have, 2024 tests have been conducted so far, compared to 200,000 in Germany. Therefore, in the opinion of many local government officials, we have a problem primarily with undiagnosed cases, and this is something we must address now, meaning we must first and foremost conduct more tests and stop the spread - he continued.

Neumann:

We are formally requesting detailed information from the Prime Minister on Poland's coronavirus test supply, procurement dates, and reasons for not joining EU-wide tender.
We support all sensible government actions and will continue to do so, but we also expect real data and answers to our pressing questions, as they are becoming increasingly serious. Today, obtaining a coronavirus test in Poland is extremely difficult. We do not have enough tests. As the Minister of Health states, we have conducted approximately 2,000 tests to date. To illustrate the situation, South Korea conducts 20,000 such tests daily, and Germany has performed over 200,000 since the beginning of the epidemic. We cannot deceive ourselves into thinking that the coronavirus situation in Poland is different, that it is less dangerous for Poland, or that it has infected fewer people than in Western European countries, because these are likely falsified figures. We are today formally requesting detailed information from Prime Minister Morawiecki regarding the number of coronavirus tests in Poland, when they were purchased or ordered, and an explanation as to why Poland did not participate in the tender conducted by most EU countries at the beginning of the year, which secured those countries with personal protective equipment and coronavirus testing kits - stated Sławomir Neumann at a briefing in the Sejm.

Grzegrzółka:

The Chamber's Work Schedule, Including the Upcoming Sejm Session on March 25-26, Remains Unchanged
The Chamber's work schedule, including the upcoming Sejm session on March 25-26, remains unchanged. No alterations are planned for today – Andrzej Grzegrzółka, Director of the Centre for Information Society, informed 300POLITYKĘ, referring to Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska's words today.

18:12

Kidawa-Błońska:

It's High Time for More Testing Opportunities. This Would Calm People Down, They'd Feel More Secure

It's high time for more testing opportunities. This would calm people down, they'd feel more secure. Moreover, by closing schools and kindergartens, the state must take the next step, which is why we have submitted a bill that will compensate parents for the money they lose while looking after their children” - stated Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska, Civic Coalition's presidential candidate and Marshal of the Sejm, in an interview with Monika Olejnik on TVN24's program „Tak jest”.

18:15

Kidawa-Błońska:

Basic Supplies Still Lacking – Masks, Equipment, Ventilators, Ambulances, and Protective Suits

Today there was a meeting between the Prime Minister and local government officials, and I know that many things are still not resolved. We are still lacking basic supplies – masks, equipment, ventilators, ambulances, and also protective suits. Doctors should be equipped with them” – said Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska, the Civic Coalition’s presidential candidate and current Marshal of the Sejm, in a conversation with Monika Olejnik on TVN24’s program “Tak jest”.

18:16

Kidawa-Błońska on Grodzki: I expect more from a politician, from a doctor. We should show Poles how to behave in such situations, and there is no excuse here.

I will say this. I expect more from a politician, from a doctor. We should show Poles how to behave in such situations, and there is no excuse here. We are all responsible. We cannot think only about ourselves, but also about the people we meet on our way. We must set an example of how to act in such situations” - said Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska, Civic Coalition's presidential candidate and Marshal Sejm, in a conversation with Monika Olejnik on the show „Tak jest” on TVN24.

18:19

Kidawa-Błońska:

Postponing Elections is Not a Good Idea. I Believe a Different Person Should Be in the Presidential Palace as Soon as Possible

Postponing elections is not a good idea, especially since I believe that a different person should be in the Presidential Palace as soon as possible, someone who will be independent, listen to Poles, and try to take action. We should conduct the campaign differently. This is difficult, because for me, meeting with Poles was the most important part of the campaign” - said Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska, the Civic Coalition's presidential candidate and Marshal of the Sejm, in an interview with Monika Olejnik on "Tak jest" on TVN24.

Emilewicz:

There's no question of closing any retail outlets

On the occasion of the ongoing debate about potential government actions in response to the coronavirus epidemic, Deputy Prime Minister Jadwiga Emilewicz stated that there are no plans to close retail outlets.

In a statement on Twitter, the Deputy Prime Minister reassured the public that the government is not considering such measures. "Regarding concerns about potential government actions in response to the epidemic, I want to assure you that there is no question of closing any retail outlets," Emilewicz wrote.

The Deputy Prime Minister's statement comes amid growing public concern about the spread of COVID-19 and its potential impact on the economy. While some countries have implemented lockdowns and restrictions on public gatherings, Poland has so far taken a more cautious approach.

Emilewicz's reassurance is likely aimed at calming fears and preventing panic. The closure of retail outlets could have significant economic consequences, affecting businesses, employees, and consumers alike.

It is important to note that the situation is dynamic, and government responses may evolve as the epidemic progresses. However, for now, retail businesses can operate without the threat of forced closure.

President Duda: All Efforts Underway to Minimize Coronavirus Morbidity

All efforts are being made to minimize morbidity related to coronavirus. I also have information from the voivodeship police commander that, unfortunately, today the first visits by police officers to individuals under home quarantine and confirmed cases of people not adhering to this quarantine have occurred. I appeal to all my fellow citizens who have been subjected to home quarantine to take this seriously” – said President Andrzej Duda in Szczecin.

19:33

Dworczyk:

Currently, we have 33 confirmed coronavirus cases in Poland, and we must expect this number to increase

- Currently, we have 33 confirmed cases of coronavirus [in Poland], and we must expect this number to increase. Not a rapid [increase], but a significant one. Just as we observe the history of case development in other countries, we must prepare for the fact that the increase in Poland will also be dynamic – stated Michał Dworczyk in an interview with Dorota Gawryluk on Polsat News's "Gość Wydarzeń".

19:36

Dworczyk:

We Wanted to Act Proactively

- The point was to get ahead of certain things [by closing schools], meaning some countries made the mistake that the virus had already spread on such a scale that closing schools or suspending classes had no greater role in terms of blocking the spread of the virus - stated Michał Dworczyk in an interview with Dorota Gawryluk on Polsat News' "Gość Wydarzeń".

- We wanted to act proactively, not wait until there are very many places where the disease occurs, but simply act proactively - said the head of the Prime Minister's Chancellery.

19:40

Dworczyk:

Tough Decisions Are Being Made. Prime Minister Signed a Decision Banning the Sale of Certain Protective Measures on Allegro to Prevent Artificial Price Increases
- These tough decisions are being made. Yesterday, the Prime Minister signed a decision banning the sale of certain protective measures on Allegro. This is precisely to prevent artificial price increases. Moreover, slightly earlier, a ban on trading this type of assortment was also introduced on eBay in the USA - stated Michał Dworczyk in an interview with Dorota Gawryluk on Polsat News's "Gość Wydarzeń". - One must be very precise here. Because these are not shortages for today. These are shortages of reserves. And indeed, it is the case that today all hospitals have the means to function. We are talking about these protective measures. However, they do not have reserves for weeks or months. These supplies are replenished from the Material Reserves Agency. It must also be said honestly that this is a pan-European, and even a global problem. No one was prepared for such a situation, for the scale of the problem we have had to face - the Head of the Prime Minister's Chancellery continued.

Fogiel:

While I'm Exaggerating, the Best and Most Effective Action Would Be to Lock Down the Entire Country for Two Weeks with Everyone Staying Home

- I'm saying this with some exaggeration, but perhaps the best and most effective action would be to lock down the entire country for two weeks with everyone staying home. We know this is unrealistic. We can do what is possible and here we are trying to be one, two, or at least half a step ahead, drawing conclusions from what is happening in other countries - said Radosław Fogiel in an interview with Wojciech Dąbrowski on the program "Wydarzenia i Opinie" (Events and Opinions) on Polsat News.

Kierwiński:

I would prefer the government to massively roll out tests for everyone who wants to get tested

- The key to stopping the coronavirus is proper diagnostics. It's a matter of identifying those who might be carriers of the virus and isolating them. This is the most effective method. If we compare what other European countries are doing in terms of the number of tests with what is happening in Poland, there is a chasm. If Germany has conducted 200,000 tests and Poland has conducted 2,000, something is wrong. I would prefer the government to massively roll out tests for everyone who wants to get tested - said Marcin Kierwiński in an interview with Wojciech Dąbrowski on the program "Events and Opinions" on Polsat News.

Kierwiński to Fogiel on Coronavirus Tests: You Lagged Behind on Many Issues. We Won't Attack You for It, We'll Offer Support. Just Don't Say the Problem Doesn't Exist

- I'm saying this so you might abandon the rhetoric: everything is wonderful. It's not wonderful, there's a lot to improve, you've lagged behind on many issues. We won't attack you for it, we'll offer you support. Just don't say the problem doesn't exist - said Marcin Kierwiński in an interview with Wojciech Dąbrowski on the Polsat News program "Wydarzenia i Opinie".

20:09

Fogiel:

Tests Are Performed Based on Medical Indications. It's Not Like Whether Someone is Sick or Not Depends on the Number of Tests

- We are trying to act above political divisions. When it comes to these tests. These are not screening tests. Tests are performed on individuals who are at risk of being infected. They are performed based on medical indications. It's not like whether someone is sick or not depends on the number of tests - said Radosław Fogiel in an interview with Wojciech Dąbrowski on the program "Wydarzenia i Opinie" (Events and Opinions) on Polsat News.

20:13

Zandberg:

I want to praise the government for introducing educational programs, but we also proposed full pay for sick leave because people might fear diagnosis and struggle to make ends meet.
- We proposed a package of solutions to limit the spread of the virus. One of these things has already happened, and I want to praise the government for introducing educational programs. However, many employees may fear being diagnosed, and even avoid isolation, fearing they won't be able to make ends meet. We proposed the temporary introduction of full pay for sick leave, at least temporarily, and this is not in the law - Adrian Zandberg said on Kropka nad I. - I am counting on 100% sick pay being included in this package. Employees working on 'junk contracts' do not have full access to benefits, this also needs to change. We are talking about a million employees in Poland - Zandberg added.

20:15

Fogiel:

We cannot ban Holy Masses. Such actions would require extraordinary measures, a state of emergency, for which there are currently no grounds

- We cannot ban Holy Masses. We can close schools that fall under the government, but such actions would already require extraordinary measures, a state of emergency, for which there are currently no grounds. A call for reason and safety is needed - said Radosław Fogiel in an interview with Wojciech Dąbrowski on the program 'Wydarzenia i Opinie' on Polsat News.

20:19

Zandberg:

When the resident doctors' strike broke out, TVP attacked the doctors
- When the resident doctors' strike broke out, TVP attacked the doctors. You slanderously threw mud at these people - said Adrian Zandberg in Kropka nad I.

Gowin on Coronavirus Risk During Mass: As a Human, I Can Say Churches Are Like Hospitals for the Soul

- I am reading Archbishop Wacław Depo, who says: the coronavirus is just one of the threats, not the most important, alongside wars and gender ideology. Don't you feel that this is an absolute disregard for a serious threat? - Grzegorz Kajdanowicz asked Jarosław Gowin on TVN24's "Fakty po faktach".

- There is a separation of Church and state in Poland. However, as a human being, I can say that churches are something like hospitals for the soul. A person consists of a body, which must be protected and cared for, but also of a soul, and the space where souls are healed, at least for believers, are precisely temples - Gowin replied.

20:42

Kidawa in her address, styled as a proclamation: Let's not allow the virus to be an opportunity to exploit public office and access to communication channels. The fate of our country, our prestige, and future policy will depend not only on whom we choose,
- The world, including our world, has been attacked by a virus - says Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska in her message, styled as a proclamation: - We are in the midst of an election campaign for the highest office in the state, and this will not be a normal political campaign. - Let's not allow the virus to be an opportunity to exploit public office and access to communication channels. The fate of our country, our prestige, and future policy will depend not only on whom we choose, but also on how we make that choice - says Kidawa. - We won when we had a common goal; today, that goal is to bring order to chaos and victory over the coronavirus - stated the candidate: - Let us show each other respect and solidarity. Let us help one another.

20:45

Gowin:

I Don't Believe the President Tied Signing the Broadcast Fee Bill to Who Would Be the New TVP CEO

- I don't have such a conviction, nor such knowledge, that the President tied the signing of the [broadcast fee bill] to who would be the new [TVP] CEO, or rather, who would not be - Jarosław Gowin said in a conversation with Grzegorz Kajdanowicz on TVN24's "Fakty po faktach".

20:53

Gowin on whether Turczynowicz-Kieryłło should resign: She should consider the accusations and the situation in her conscience

- Do you think she should resign after all these controversies? - Grzegorz Kajdanowicz asked Jarosław Gowin in TVN24's "Fakty po faktach".

- The attorney believes she has been wrongly accused and has announced she will pursue legal action - stated Jarosław Gowin.

- But now you are talking about which controversies, because there have been several. Let's start with the first statement about freedom of speech - the journalist pressed.

- I will finish my thought, because it might pre-empt your next question. I believe the attorney should consider these accusations and the situation in her conscience. However, as a politician, and primarily as a minister, I am focusing on matters that are incomparably more important than who is or isn't on Andrzej Duda's election staff, and even more important than the campaign itself - Gowin replied.
