Today, the Grand Chamber of the Court of Justice of the EU will hold a hearing of the parties in the case concerning the European Commission's request for the temporary suspension of the Disciplinary Chamber of the Supreme Court.

Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz will be visiting the Podlasie region. At 10:30 AM, there will be a meeting with farmers in Mońki, followed by a meeting with residents at 11:30 AM. At 2:15 PM, he will visit the farm of Mr. and Mrs. Chmielewski. A press conference is scheduled for 4:30 PM in Suwałki, and a meeting with residents at 5:30 PM.

- At the moment, we are analyzing how to improve the situation regarding the control of the movement of people and potentially sick individuals. Today at 1:00 PM, at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister, Prime Minister Morawiecki will hold an important press conference on this matter - stated Michał Dworczyk in an interview with Katarzyna Gójska on Polskie Radio Program 1's "Sygnały dnia".

- We will certainly see a dynamic increase in infections. It is important to adhere to the decisions of the Chief Sanitary Inspector. It is important to adhere to the administrative decisions that have been or will be issued. A certain mobilization and calm are needed, right. The authorities in Poland are doing everything to maximally limit the spread of this disease and to ensure the safety of citizens - said Michał Dworczyk in an interview with Katarzyna Gójska on "Sygnały dnia" on Polish Radio Channel 1.

The scale [of coronavirus] is actually not known in the context of other countries, but we are also assuming very negative scenarios. We already see that in some Western European countries there are thousands, and therefore such a scenario must also be considered in Poland, of course - said Piotr Müller in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Piasecki's Conversation".

- At this stage, when the number of infections does not yet require us to forcibly close these events, it is a firm recommendation [from GIS], although if a situation of increasing infections arises, administrative decisions will be made to close these events - stated Piotr Müller in a conversation with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego".

- I think that if several dozen more cases appear in Poland in various locations, if these outbreaks become larger, then there will be top-down, administrative decisions. Voivodes are obliged to continuously monitor such events on a daily basis and make recommendations regarding the closure of larger international events - the government spokesman continued.

- If the president invites the prime minister, then the prime minister simply comes to the Presidential Palace. This is why [the president invited the prime minister], to jointly present information that this bill [on compensation for public media] will be signed. It's an important bill that, in my opinion, stirred some unjustified controversy, but it did stir it - stated Piotr Müller in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Piasecki's Conversation".

- I defend the diversification of information in Poland. That is to say, if there are different television stations... I feel that in Poland, the media market, thanks to the fact that Polish Television has funding sources from the state budget, similar to countries like Germany, other countries, or Great Britain, that thanks to this, the media market in Poland is more diverse, more pluralistic - stated Piotr Müller in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego".

- The [medical fund announced on Friday] will be established this year - stated Piotr Müller in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Piasecki's Interview". - The money for the Medical Fund will come partly from the state budget, partly through budget reallocations. I don't directly monitor the medical actions of my colleagues, as it's difficult to disturb them in such a situation" - said Minister Łukasz Szumowski in an interview with Dominika Wielowieyska on Radio TOK FM's Poranek.

- The First Lady should receive such remuneration due to the work she performs, but primarily due to pension contributions, which today the First Lady, regardless of who currently holds the office, cannot pay, and at the same time society expects the First Lady to suspend her professional work. However, Ms. Paulina's proposal is absurd. The cost of a nationwide referendum is PLN 70 million. Spending 70 million to decide whether the First Lady should receive a salary or not would mean that the First Lady would have the highest salary among all officials – stated Adam Bielan in an interview with Michał Rachoń on TVP Info's program "Jedziemy," commenting on Paulina Kosiniak-Kamysz's idea of organizing a referendum on the First Lady's remuneration.

- These extra funds that the President announced, in the presence of the Prime Minister, and later the Minister of Health, are funds that will be allocated to oncology. On the other hand, as I understand it, the goal of this fund will be to help people who cannot fully receive treatment in Poland because the technology and know-how are lacking here - said Adam Bielan in an interview with Michał Rachoń on TVP Info's program "Jedziemy".

- It will be financed from the state budget, but as I understand it, it will be managed autonomously. Details will be known in the coming weeks - he continued.

"We will certainly see a significant increase in the number of cases in the coming days. This is shown by all other trends in other countries, for example in the Netherlands. The number of sick people practically doubles from day to day. It looks similar in every country" - said Minister Łukasz Szumowski in a conversation with Dominika Wielowieyska on Radio TOK FM's morning program.

- Of course, the presidential election is the most important event on the political scene this year, but more important than the election and the campaign is the fight against this, arguably already, global pandemic - said Adam Bielan in an interview with Michał Rachoń on TVP Info's program "Jedziemy".

- Coronavirus has no political colours. We must be united on this matter, regardless of political divisions, hence Prime Minister Morawiecki's proposal to invite all leaders to the Chancellery of the Prime Minister (KPRM) - he continued.

- Today he is the favorite and is close to re-election, however, I remember and I think everyone in the current campaign team, working with President Duda, remembers well the lesson from 2015, that the candidate who was supposed to win easily, even in the first round, was Bronisław Komorowski. Therefore, I believe that today Andrzej Duda is the favorite, he has the best chances of re-election, but there are still 60 days of campaigning, and I would probably be guilty of some kind of arrogance if I were to say for sure that I know who will win. A favorite, but he must confirm his leadership in the fight yet - stated Krzysztof Łapiński in an interview with Konrad Piasecki in „Rozmowa Piaseckiego Kampania 2020” on TVN24.

Jacek Kurski resigned, believing that his person is not more important than the interest of public television and public media. He resigned because this resignation was accepted by the National Media Council, and there will be a new CEO of public television. „There is full transparency from the government's side. We want everyone to be informed because information is the best weapon against spreading panic. If there's no ill will from anyone, then there's a chance for a cross-party agreement on this matter” – stated Radosław Fogiel, Deputy Spokesperson for Law and Justice (PiS), during the political program ‘Kwadrans polityczny’ on TVP1.

- I don't want to speak on behalf of the President, I can speak for myself. In my opinion, public television broadens the spectrum of pluralism and opinions in Poland - said Adam Bielan in a conversation with Jacek Prusinowski on "Sedno Sprawy" on Radio Plus.

Our political camp, which passed this [subscription fee] bill, expected that this bill would be signed. However, this bill has been signed by the President, so all this information about a supposed conflict is greatly exaggerated. There was a certain dispute, there was a discussion on this matter. The President pondered over many bills that were passed by parliament in the previous and current terms. He vetoed some of them – said Adam Bielan in an interview with Jacek Prusinowski on Radio Plus's "Sedno Sprawy" (The Heart of the Matter).

- We will certainly have to change, revise our plans. It's hard for me to say whether the entire convention will be cancelled or simply reduced. These decisions are ahead of us this week. Let's remember that we unfortunately expect negative trends regarding the coronavirus epidemic - said Adam Bielan in an interview with Jacek Prusinowski on Radio Plus's "Sedno Sprawy".

- The coronavirus epidemic is already in Poland. It is likely, as specialists say, that we will see new cases of infection, and everyone – politicians and citizens alike, all social groups – must adapt to this new situation. I want to announce that this morning, together with my team, I have decided to modify the way my election campaign is conducted. We are canceling, effective immediately and until the epidemiological situation stabilizes, the large, open meetings that we had planned and that have brought us joy and engagement across Poland many times before – said Szymon Hołownia during a press conference in Warsaw.

- Today, our collective safety is simply more important than any politics, than any campaign. This does not mean I will stop traveling around Poland. I will continue to travel and meet with local government officials, volunteers, and representatives of various groups who wish to meet with me – added the candidate for the office of the President of the Republic of Poland.

- As of today, we officially have 16 confirmed cases of coronavirus infection. We know that over 170 people are hospitalized, and over 4000 are under home quarantine. You can see that these numbers are growing, and we must prepare in the coming days because in all other countries they have grown, and we expect that in Poland this increase will be very rapid in the coming days - said Łukasz Szumowski during a press conference.

- The question arises about schools. Here, depending on the situation, there may be different solutions. We are analyzing this together with Mr. Minister Piontkowski and Mr. Prime Minister. Scenarios of closing schools, where we have potential risk of the virus, are also being considered - added the Minister of Health.

„For Poles, their safety in every area of life is paramount. Every day we hear disturbing news about the coronavirus, and it is important that we know how to behave, how to act, that we cooperate – the government with local authorities, with non-governmental organizations, because only the joint actions of all of us will allow us to quickly deal with this disease” – said Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska, KO's presidential candidate and Deputy Marshal, at a press conference in Lublin.

„It is important for the government to support local authorities and hospitals more quickly, to send a signal that we are all well-prepared” – she added.

The public has the right to know what views on crucial issues, on matters of values and family, presidential candidates hold. Therefore, we ask, we urge President Kosiniak-Kamysz to clearly state whether President Kosiniak-Kamysz accepts the adoption of children by same-sex couples. Our doubts were raised by an interview mentioned by Adam Bielan, concerning Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz's spouse. Therefore, we very much request a clear declaration on this matter - stated Jolanta Turczynowicz-Kieryłło at a press briefing.

- I have just received a copy of the documents that all parliamentary reporters must fill out when entering the Sejm. This is a document in which all reporters must declare if they have not seen anyone in recent days who has been in infected areas. At the same time, information is reaching us, disseminated by the media, that Senator Marshal Tomasz Grodzki was on a private visit to Italy last week. The Marshal is not answering journalists' questions as to whether he was indeed in Italy and risked the health not only of himself but also of SOP officers who, as we know, must accompany him at all times, and at the same time risked the health of senators, because he arrived directly from the airport for a Senate session, and all reporters covering Senate sessions. The public has a right to know if the third highest official in the state is following the recommendations of doctors and the GIS, which has long advised against traveling to Italy. If it turns out that Marshal Grodzki was indeed on vacation, on holiday in Italy, then the question arises as to why the Senate proceedings were postponed by 4 days, because we know that very important, very urgently needed laws and government projects were passed on Monday, and the Senate session was adjourned precisely due to Marshal Grodzki's leave until Friday - stated Adam Bielan at a press briefing. 

"We are receiving many questions from you concerning changes to our candidate Andrzej Duda's plans in connection with the epidemic, the threat of the coronavirus epidemic. I want to inform you that today afternoon, we will have a staff meeting dedicated solely to this issue and as soon as decisions are made regarding potential changes to the plans, we will inform you immediately" - stated Adam Bielan at a press briefing.

We know that the recommendations from the Chief Sanitary Inspectorate (GIS) are not to organize events for more than 1000 people. Our last convention was many times larger, with nearly 6,000 participants. We will certainly comply with the GIS recommendations. Perhaps soon there will be firm decisions from the government, voivodes, and regional government administration. We don't want to completely cancel our [program] convention. We are considering a change in format. Poles have the right to know President Duda's program and its details for the next 5 years. We want to do this in the near future. Due to the situation, we must be flexible. I think we will inform you about this within a few days. We do not want to completely cancel this event, but we are contemplating a change in format. We certainly will not be holding a large event for over 1000 people, as these are the GIS recommendations – stated Adam Bielan at a press briefing.

– I exceptionally agree with what Donald Tusk tweets. In recent months, he has been known more for malicious comments and attacks on various politicians. I agree with this tweet, but I have a request for Tusk: to call his colleague, the former spokesperson of his government, Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska, and ask her to stop spreading panic. I remind you that for 10 days we have not been able to get an apology from Kidawa-Błońska for the terrible tweet she made on Friday before her convention, in which she accused the government of hiding information about the coronavirus. She presented no evidence for this very serious accusation and has not apologized for it. So, I have a request for Tusk, agreeing with what he wrote today, to make a phone call to Kidawa-Błońska and make her explain herself, because politicians should indeed behave responsibly these days – stated Adam Bielan at a press briefing. 

- We are making further decisions today. We are the first in Europe, or among the first, to make such a decision. Namely, we are implementing sanitary controls at the border with Germany and the Czech Republic at key crossings. For today, four crossings with the Federal Republic of Germany and one crossing with the Czech Republic will be covered, but I want to emphasize that in the next few dozen hours, we will be expanding the scope of these controls to other border crossings as well - stated Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki at a press conference at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister (KPRM).

- Initially, we are primarily covering controls in bus transport, coach transport, meaning for groups of more than 8 passengers, so as to, in the most effective way possible, on one hand, not disrupt traffic flow at the border, because we want this traffic to continue, but on the other hand, to identify those cases that could simultaneously mean faster spread of this virus throughout the territory of the Republic of Poland - PMM continued.

Also in the coming days, we are implementing sanitary checks on trains, first on Intercity, then also on cross-border traffic, where the probability of coronavirus occurrence is lower, but of course it also occurs, so we are preparing the entire infrastructure to implement checks in the next two to three days, both at all border crossings, road crossings, but also at crossings, railway crossings and also in ports - stated Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki at a press conference at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister (KPRM).

- Due to the nature of the virus's spread and the rapid increases in Spain, France, Germany, and also very rapid in Italy, and very significant in Great Britain and other Western European countries, following yesterday's recommendation from GIS [Chief Sanitary Inspectorate] by Minister Pinkas, I want to very strongly appeal to all organizers of mass events to refrain from organizing mass events, to simply cancel them in the near future, because mass events, according to our analyses, were one of the reasons for the faster spread of the virus in Germany and Italy - stated Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki at a press conference at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister (KPRM).

- Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz is the only independent candidate. I understand this pains the Andrzej Duda campaign the most. Last week they tried to stir up hate, and now they are trying to manipulate. Ms. Advocate Kieryłło, please don't bite us or manipulate us. Kosiniak-Kamysz's stance on same-sex couples adopting children has been known for a long time. He is against it. I agree with you on one point. Poles should know the candidates' views, which is why we should debate. Kosiniak-Kamysz is ready for this debate. We would also like to know if Duda will sign the health pact. Today, we should all be fighting the coronavirus, not fighting Poles, which PiS and Andrzej Duda's campaign are again trying to do – said Magdalena Sobkowiak at a briefing in the Sejm.

"We are signalling today that there is a possibility, following consultations with the Minister of National Education, the Minister of Health, and observation of what countries with much higher infection rates are doing, that we will also be introducing recommendations or even strict guidelines in schools, all schools – from primary schools, kindergartens, secondary schools, to higher education institutions – which will later be enforced by voivodes, regarding the limitation of these institutions' operations. We will present these announcements in the coming days" - said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki at a press conference.

"We are aware that Western European countries – France, Spain, Germany, or Great Britain – have not yet implemented such bans [on organizing mass events], and the number of cases there is already in the thousands. We want to act more prudently than those countries and we want to prevent rather than react. Therefore, for tomorrow and the day after tomorrow, I have several, a dozen or so meetings planned with various sports communities, and decisions will also be made after consultations, very quickly, so that organizers can prepare for such actions in advance" - Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said at a press conference.

As 300POLITYKA learns, President Andrzej Duda has convened a National Security Council meeting for Tuesday at 11:00 AM regarding the coronavirus situation. 

According to our interlocutors from the Presidential Palace, the president intends to discuss measures that need to be taken to maximally limit the risk of virus spread, including excluding the public from sporting events. Maximum limitation or even cancellation of mass events, and perhaps also the necessity of temporarily closing schools.

- The President is to appeal for the greatest possible cooperation - we hear. - It is also about ensuring that all political forces are maximally informed about the administration's actions, in order to limit possible outbreaks of panic among citizens - argues a 300POLITYKA informant.

- Mr. President, television has never healed anyone. Just by watching... we had Mr. Kaszpirowski for that. The last finale of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity that was on TVP cost around 700,000 [PLN], and we collected tens of millions. Two billion for one year. State television is television funded by my money, because I pay, and we have a big row at home. Let's ask the MPs if they pay for television - said Jerzy Owsiak in FpF.

- He brings competence, professionalism, calm - said Katarzyna Kolenda-Zaleska in FpF. - Life will show if this information can be trusted. I have limited trust in many government communications. They are often not credible people for me. What was shown in the movie 'The Hater' functioned in the Ministry of Justice - Owsiak replied.

„We appealed for this [convening the NSC] several weeks ago, just as we appealed for a special Sejm session. It was delayed. We submitted a bill. Back then, there was no time or necessity either. - I do not engage in commenting on the staffing of state-owned companies in the media. Let's look at this situation differently, in an honest way. Someone might say that at TVN someone is experiencing trauma because some event, even related to New Year's Eve, was watched several times worse. I don't think anyone at this moment will criticize that public media are providing good, reliable information about the coronavirus - said Łukasz Schreiber, minister in the Chancellery of the Prime Minister, on Kropka nad I.

- When you ended your European campaign on flood embankments in an embarrassing fashion, it seemed you couldn't sink any lower. It turns out your party's new leadership shows that, indeed, you can. If you frame it as money that supposedly could have gone to oncology, then healthcare funding was increased by 27 billion under the PiS government. From 7 to over 11 billion for oncology alone – Grzegorz Schreiber said on Kropka nad I.

"The President is in an election campaign. He is incorporating his activities into these efforts. I have no doubt that this is a rather empty gesture, because when the most important decisions were being made, when we wanted to talk to the President, he was deaf to arguments. I will remind you, he made a much more important decision a few days ago when he signed a harmful law and 2 billion złoty will be allocated to propaganda instead of healthcare" – said the leader of Civic Platform (PO), Borys Budka, in an interview with Katarzyna Kolenda-Zaleska on "Fakty po Faktach" on TVN24.

- I have the impression that when it comes to your candidate's campaign, we are not getting answers to certain key questions. For example, she says the president should react on prices, but the next day she comes to our show and can't say how - Katarzyna Kolenda-Zaleska told Borys Budka in "Fakty po Faktach". - These are very simple answers, they just need to be communicated well - said Borys Budka. - But they were missing - Kolenda interjected: - I am not asking about you, because you are not running for office.  - We are doing everything to make these messages as precise as possible - Budka replied. - So they are not? - Kolenda interjected. - We are trying to be better every day, we are trying to help Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska in the campaign. Contrary to popular opinion, the president can intervene by refusing to sign laws that raise taxes. Each of us is in MKB's campaign team, she has the largest team, consisting of all parliamentarians and volunteers. - You are not answering the questions and we have to finish - KKZ summarized.

The Health Minister is undoubtedly communicating correctly what is happening, only that a few weeks ago, when we said that the Sejm should be convened, when on February 14th we submitted a bill to help the government, we heard from, among others, the Health Minister that there was no such need, that the virus was far away” – said the Civic Platform (PO) leader Borys Budka in an interview with Katarzyna Kolenda-Zaleska on TVN24’s “Fakty po Faktach”.

"I have no idea where the Marshal of the Senate was. I know he was in the Senate on Friday when the decision [on the special coronavirus act] was made. If so [if he was in Italy], then certainly as an outstanding doctor, a brilliant specialist, he knew what the symptoms were. I haven't heard of any procedure that everyone returning from Italy was supposed to undergo" – said the Civic Platform (PO) leader Borys Budka in an interview with Katarzyna Kolenda-Zaleska on TVN24's "Fakty po Faktach".

"Primarily it was about ensuring the government communicated the truth. Thanks to the effective, substantive work of the opposition, including Civic Coalition, a special session was held in the Senate. As far as I remember, it was [Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska's] request and suggestion to provide full information" - said PO leader Borys Budka on "Fakty po Faktach" on TVN24, when asked by Katarzyna Kolenda-Zaleska about Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska's suggestion that the government was hiding coronavirus cases.
