Kidawa-Błońska on Coronavirus: I Believe My Tweet That Angered Government Representatives Was Justified

- I believe that my tweet [regarding the coronavirus], which so greatly angered government representatives, was justified. This is because, you see, since then the Prime Minister and ministers have begun to explain very precisely what is happening, even though the opposition wanted us to meet and discuss this matter in the Sejm several weeks earlier, but couldn't get it arranged. There was a discussion in the Sejm, the minister presented how the government was prepared for it - stated Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego".

- If information about cases from this hospital, that hospital, kept arriving at our parliamentary offices, because people do call us, they ask. A lot of information, media reports, and nobody is talking about it. There is silence. If something is bad, it is spoken about - she continued.

08:02

Kidawa-Błońska:

I have very little trust in this government, but I wouldn't want to talk about any conspiracy theories

- I'll be honest, I have very little trust in this government, but I wouldn't want to talk about any conspiracy theories. However, I am pleased that Minister Szumowski, who incidentally called me after that tweet and said there was no such case. No [he didn't convince me]. He said there was no such case and informed me, and this is very good, that he will provide ongoing updates on the situation in Poland, on cases where people returning from holidays, from Italy or other destinations, are informed what they should do - stated Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego".

08:05

Jan Kidawa-Błoński on Participating in Organizing an Election Convention: I'm Not Such a Versatile Director to Direct an Entire Campaign

I am not such a versatile director as to direct an entire campaign. Undoubtedly, I had a significant influence on my own presentation [during the convention]. To be honest, I was wondering how it would have to be done so that this convention, with significantly fewer resources, would look as spectacular as the competition's convention” - said Jan Kidawa-Błoński in an interview with Beata Lubecka on Radio Zet.

08:07

Kidawa-Błońska:

The Convention Was Very Important to Me

This convention was certainly very important to me, because my colleagues, the convention guests, showed that they feel positive energy and this energy was there, and they believe these elections are winnable. I feel better and better [as the convention's protagonist], although, as everyone knows me, I definitely feel better in direct contact with people, in conversations. Even at such large meetings, with several hundred people, but when it takes the form of a conversation, I feel definitely better. However, this convention somewhat resembled a form of conversation, because everyone came out, talked about themselves. It was better for me – stated Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego".

08:12

Jan Kidawa-Błoński: A presidential candidate's speech is not a cabaret show requiring frantic gesturing and shouting, but a precise articulation of one's message

I haven’t heard [Kidawa-Błońska] make a mistake. It’s true, she had a card with her speech written down, and by often leaning down and looking at that card, she conveyed certain thoughts. This is extremely important, because a presidential candidate’s speech is not a cabaret show where one needs to start waving their hands, shouting, and spinning on their heel; instead, one must precisely articulate what they intend to say. If you are a responsible person, you must use a card to convey your thoughts precisely. To gamble with saying something from memory and potentially spout nonsense, as some might say, such verbose rambling, such torrents of rhetoric” – stated Jan Kidawa-Błoński in an interview with Beata Lubecka on Radio Zet.

08:15

Jan Kidawa-Błoński on his wife: She adores interacting with people. When there's something akin to a live conversation with people, a debate, she feels fantastic in it

I don't think my wife is afraid of public speaking. Public speaking is, in a way, her element. She adores interacting with people. If it's a public speaking event where you ask questions and she answers, something akin to a live conversation with people, a debate, she feels fantastic in it. It's a different matter, of course, to deliver a long speech, and in this case, a program speech” - said Jan Kidawa-Błoński in an interview with Beata Lubecka on Radio Zet.

08:20

Jan Kidawa-Błoński on his wife: I can completely vouch that she is a person who has no genes of subservience. Whatever she does and wherever she is, she will do everything to be independent. She cannot be subjugated by anyone.

"Mr. Schetyna is no longer here. Mr. Budka is. It's not said that the spouse will be dependent on Mr. Budka, even though he is the party leader. She will be dependent on Mr. Tusk. This means [in the narrative of the competitors] she has to be dependent on someone. Knowing her as I do, I can't even imagine her being dependent on anyone. I can completely vouch that she is a person, a woman, who has no genes of subservience within her. Whatever she does and wherever she is, she will do everything to be independent. She cannot be subjugated by anyone. If I, with my socio-technical talents in this direction, haven't managed to subjugate my wife in any way over these 37 years, then believe me, it's impossible," said Jan Kidawa-Błoński in an interview with Beata Lubecka on Radio Zet.

08:22

Szumowski:

Overnight We Received a Positive Result for the First Confirmed Coronavirus Case in Poland

- As we have promised many times, you will be informed as soon as possible only when we receive information about a positive test result. This has happened today. Overnight, we received a positive result for the first patient with a confirmed coronavirus infection in Poland. Of course, as I promised, I informed the Prime Minister and the President, and I am immediately relaying this information to you and the public. This patient is in the Lubuskie Voivodeship and is hospitalized in Zielona Góra. They are feeling well, and all procedures have functioned as they should – stated Łukasz Szumowski at a press briefing.

08:32

Kidawa-Błońska:

The President Might Not Know Current Prices, and Has a Right Not To, as He Hasn't Shopped for Years

- Of course, it's not just the President's task [to curb price increases]. The President has influence over the individuals serving on the Monetary Policy Council and the National Bank of Poland. These are institutions that can and should monitor both the level of inflation and price growth. But if people are chosen there who would be independent and act based on substance, they would behave that way. The President can convene a Cabinet Council, ask questions, and intervene. The President cannot remain silent, silent, silent - stated Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego".

- A politician, a president, from whom Poles expect to consider their fate in difficult matters, should ask questions. Please look at the inflation situation; the Monetary Policy Council doesn't explain, doesn't inform. The National Bank of Poland is silent, and the president says prices are temporary. It's possible the president doesn't know what the prices are, and he has a right not to know, because he hasn't done any shopping for a few years - she continued.

08:38

Kidawa-Błońska:

Institutions Meant to Inform Poles and Prevent High Inflation Are Silent

- There are no answers to these questions; prices have been rising for months, inflation is growing, and no one has explained it to Poles. The president's task is to ensure Poles are informed and, where possible, to introduce legal solutions or propose them. In this situation, we have independent institutions that should act. They are not acting - stated Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego".

- If there are institutions that should inform Poles and explain certain things, they are silent. They exist to ensure inflation is not high, that prices do not rise, and that Poles know what is causing it and what is happening. It is silence once again - she continued.

08:45

Kidawa-Błońska on Raising the Retirement Age: It Was a Wise and Good Decision, But We Made One Mistake. We Didn't Explain It to Poles, We Didn't Give Them Choice

- As it is now [the retirement age would be, if it depended on President Kidawa-Błońska], because Poles did not accept our solution, which we adopted many years ago. It was a wise and good decision, but we made one mistake. We didn't explain it to Poles, we didn't give them choice - stated Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego". As she said, "the government should create mechanisms so that people want to work longer."

08:50

Kidawa-Błońska on Raising the Retirement Age: "I don't believe any political party will dare to propose this in the coming years. Poles said 'no', while the government and politicians should encourage people to work longer."
"I haven't changed my mind. I believe we are living longer and longer, so we should work longer, because work is not a punishment," stated Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego". "I don't believe any political party will dare to come forward with such a proposal [raising the retirement age] in the coming years. Poles said 'no', while the government and politicians should encourage people to work longer and explain why," she continued.

10:02

Müller:

We're Conducting World-Class Genetic Tests, Ordering Them Continuously; Over 60,000 Currently or Arriving Soon
- We are conducting world-class genetic tests. These are tests that truly verify whether someone is sick or not. We order tests on a continuous basis. Currently, the total number of tests within the country, plus those that will arrive within the next few days, is over 60,000. And we are ordering more, should the need arise. 60,000 were ordered. I don't know the exact number currently in the country. This was the total order amount. There are no problems regarding the number of tests in the country. They have been purchased in surplus and will continue to be purchased in surplus, because this is an extraordinary situation - stated Piotr Müller in an interview with Jacek Prusinowski on Radio Plus.

10:05

Müller:

After the PM's return from Prague, we have a crisis staff meeting to decide on further steps and coordinate actions. Simultaneously, the RCB is operating 24/7 at heightened readiness.

- There will be exercises concerning the deployment of large tents at hospitals in case the number of infections increases. We are doing this in advance to test everything. We are many steps ahead compared to, for example, Western countries. Let's remember that the number of infected people in Europe is very large, therefore we are addressing this proactively and not waiting, but carrying out tasks in advance - stated Piotr Müller in an interview with Jacek Prusinowski on Radio Plus.

- The Prime Minister will return [from Prague] shortly after noon. It's a several-hour visit concerning the joint actions of the Visegrád Group regarding the coronavirus. Coordinating actions, as well as exchanging experiences in this regard. Therefore, this meeting concerns this matter, among other things, which is why the meeting is taking place today. Upon his return, as announced, we will have a crisis staff meeting, and this staff will decide on further steps, coordinate actions, and receive information from all corners of Poland. Simultaneously, the RCB is operating 24 hours a day, at heightened readiness. The same applies to laboratories, which are currently operating around the clock - he continued.

11:11

PM in Prague: We Must Continuously Exchange Information on Key Issues, and Today the Most Important of These is Stopping the Spread of Coronavirus in Europe

We must continuously exchange information on key issues, and today the most important of these is stopping the spread of coronavirus in Europe. It is known that we have registered the first case of a patient with coronavirus in Poland. We want to exchange experiences. Cooperation within the EU forum is very important, which is why we proposed a meeting of health ministers. Such a meeting will take place on Friday, and at this meeting, issues related to drug and equipment supplies, as well as independence from certain suppliers, will be discussed. It is evident that while the world is a global village, it brings many opportunities, but also certain risky threats” - said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki at a press conference in Prague.

12:52

Terlecki After Meeting with Chief Sanitary Inspector: "We Might Have to Make Certain Decisions, Such as Limiting Tours in the Sejm. We Will Receive Recommendations in Writing."

Parliament is the heart of politics in Poland, and we must think about avoiding any threats. Therefore, we might have to make certain decisions, such as limiting tours in the Sejm. We will receive recommendations in writing. Then we will refer to them” – said Deputy Marshal Ryszard Terlecki to journalists in the Sejm after his meeting with the Chief Sanitary Inspector.

If the need arises, you [journalists] will have to undergo a two-week quarantine” – Terlecki said humorously to journalists.

13:31

PM Tonight on Polsat

Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki will be Dorota Gawryluk's guest tonight at 7:15 PM on Polsat News' "Gość Wydarzeń" (Guest of Events).

14:45

Kidawa-Błońska on Coronavirus: This Time Requires Cooperation and Responsibility from All of Us

"It has happened as we expected. There is the first case of coronavirus in Poland, diagnosed in the Lubuskie Voivodeship. A debate on this topic took place in the Sejm last week. The Ministry and the Prime Minister provided information. They stated the state of our country's preparations for this disease," said the Deputy Speaker of the Sejm, KO presidential candidate Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska, at a press conference.

"I also spoke with the marshals of the voivodeships along our borders, as people move fastest there. Everyone is fully prepared. Local governments are functioning very well. This time requires cooperation and responsibility from all of us. We should know how to act. I hope that we in Poland will quickly manage to overcome this disease," she added.

14:46

Kidawa-Błońska on the so-called public media compensation: I hope that on Friday we will learn that the president has finally listened to the voice of Poles and vetoed this law

2 billion zlotys should be allocated to what is currently most important for Poles, i.e., fighting cancer and diseases. Funds in such an amount allocated to TVP at this moment are actually money for an election campaign, for conducting a disgusting campaign against opposition candidates, opposition parties, and everyone who holds a different opinion than the government. I hope that on Friday we will learn that the president has finally listened to the voice of Poles and vetoed this law” - said the Deputy Marshal of the Sejm, Civic Coalition's presidential candidate Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska, at a press conference.

The gentlemen met in the RBN building, and I think it would be great if such a meeting also took place with representatives of opposition parties. If the President and President Kaczyński are talking about Poles, then the opposition should also participate. I understand they talked about money for TVP, but security for Poles should be discussed there [at the RBN headquarters], meaning with the opposition about the coronavirus epidemic” - she added.

15:22

President Duda on the First Coronavirus Case in Poland: "The Situation Here, One Might Say, Is Fully Under Control"
Today, unfortunately, the first case [of coronavirus in Poland], but I would say the entire situation proceeded exemplarily. The patient reported to their family doctor, the family doctor immediately informed the sanitary inspection, a special ambulance with specially trained personnel was dispatched, which took the gentleman to the hospital's infectious diseases ward. Everything was under control, secured. Currently, individuals with whom he had contact are undergoing quarantine. So, the situation here, one might say, is fully under control - stated President Andrzej Duda after visiting the St. Luke's Specialist Hospital in Końskie.

15:24

President Duda: I've Asked PZU CEO to Launch a Special Hotline for Patients Seeking Advice
I have reached out to the CEO of PZU Group, Jacek Surówka, to make this special hotline available to all patients who wish to, or need to, receive advice. Those who feel they need this advice, who want to talk to an expert, a doctor. This option will be available and will be launched soon. It has the remarkable advantage of not requiring you to leave your home and interact with other people. You simply need to call or contact us via the internet, and you can even speak with a doctor or specialist through this very internet-based transmission. This will be made available in the near future, and I hope that those who feel uncertain, unwell, or anxious will be able to take advantage of this advice. I am very grateful to the PZU Group for this, as it is a significant gesture and a much-needed action to ensure that this consultation is possible at virtually any moment without having to go out onto the street, meaning without coming into contact with other people – stated President Andrzej Duda after his visit to the St. Luke's Specialist Hospital in Końskie.

15:32

President Duda: We'd prefer not to, but if the virus spreads, gatherings, including campaign events, may need to be cancelled

- It could impact everything [the coronavirus]. There could be a situation, which we'd obviously prefer not to happen, but if it turns out the virus is spreading, then it might be necessary to forgo gatherings, and in that case, campaign gatherings would naturally also not be able to take place. So, I'm unable to predict at this moment, but we will act responsibly, to ensure the health of Poles to the greatest extent possible, because that's what it's all about – stated President Andrzej Duda after his visit to the St. Luke's Specialist Hospital in Końskie.

16:18

Müller:

In connection with the entry into force of the so-called 'division act', PMM has appealed to PAD to appoint current ministers-members of the Council of Ministers to their permanent positions.

Piotr Müller (PMM) has appealed to President Andrzej Duda (PAD) to appoint the current ministers-members of the Council of Ministers to their designated offices, following the entry into force of the so-called "division act".

The "division act" is a piece of legislation that clarifies the roles and responsibilities of ministers within the Polish government, particularly in the context of government reshuffles or changes in ministerial portfolios. It aims to ensure a smooth transition and prevent any ambiguity regarding ministerial authority and duties.

By requesting the President to formally appoint the existing ministers to their "permanent" or designated positions, Müller seeks to solidify their roles and responsibilities in light of this new legal framework. This action suggests a desire for clarity and stability within the government's executive branch.

The appeal to the President implies a formal process that requires presidential endorsement for the continued tenure or confirmation of ministerial appointments under the new legal provisions. This is a standard procedure in the Polish political system for high-ranking government officials.

17:11

Kidawa-Błońska:

I spoke with Szumowski today. He said funds for local governments will be transferred quickly
Today, something happened that we have all been expecting for several weeks. We have the first diagnosed case of coronavirus. Last week in the Sejm, we discussed this topic, we checked the state of our country's preparedness for this epidemic. Polish local governments are well-prepared for this, as confirmed by the example of Zielona Góra, because the Marshal, several weeks ago, when it was known that this situation could happen in Poland, checked the hospital's preparedness - stated Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska at a briefing in Kutno. - I spoke with Minister Szumowski today. He said that funds for local governments will be transferred quickly - she continued. - We are not halting our campaign, we are continuing our work. We are taking care to observe hygiene rules, which should be followed in such a situation - she emphasized.

19:14

Dworczyk:

Prime Minister Received Reports from All Services and Some Ministers. An Order for One Million Liters of Disinfectant Will Be Placed

- The session of the Government Crisis Management Team has just concluded; this is the first meeting convened by the Prime Minister in this manner. The Prime Minister has received reports from all services and from some ministers representing departments involved in the fight against the coronavirus. We have the first case of coronavirus in Poland today, so the situation has changed. The Prime Minister also issued specific recommendations to the ministries, for which the ministries will be held accountable this Friday, in two days, when the team meets again. Today, the Prime Minister also commissioned Polfa Tarchomin and Orlen to produce disinfectants. Very serious shortages of these substances have been indicated. An order for one million liters of disinfectant will be placed. This substance will be delivered to all schools throughout Poland, while Polfa Tarchomin will produce such a substance for individual use – said Michał Dworczyk after the session of the Government Crisis Management Team.

19:36

PM:

We are preparing plans and drills in every ministry for the event of an epidemic spreading
We are preparing plans and drills in every ministry for the event of an epidemic spreading. This first case, which was detected and which we informed about this morning, was a case from abroad, specifically from Germany. The passenger, who was traveling from Düsseldorf to Poland, unfortunately contracted the coronavirus. He is now undergoing treatment, and we are also reaching out to all passengers who traveled with him – said Mateusz Morawiecki in an interview with Dorota Gawryluk on the program “Gość Wydarzeń” on Polsat News.

19:39

PMM:

We Want to Erect Additional Tents in Front of Some Hospitals

- We have made this decision, although it is not necessary from the perspective of the availability of beds or emergency rooms, we want to erect additional tents in front of some hospitals. So that appropriate medical procedures can be performed. Such actions are being carried out in France and Germany - said Mateusz Morawiecki in an interview with Dorota Gawryluk on the program "Gość Wydarzeń" on Polsat News.

19:44

PMM on Polsat News: Raising Awareness is a Crucial Part of Public Service. Thank You Public Television for This Efficient Mission Today

- If you encounter any ailment, about which you inform the public very often on your television, I am very grateful for that, because such a process of raising awareness is a very important part of public service, as it were, carried out by your television, but also by public television. I would like to thank public television very much for this efficient mission carried out today. I want to emphasize that if patients with specific symptoms report to individual medical facilities, they are directed according to strictly defined procedures – said Mateusz Morawiecki in a conversation with Dorota Gawryluk on the program “Gość Wydarzeń” on Polsat News.

19:47

PM:

"Some companies selling medical supplies or disinfectants are exploiting the situation and drastically increasing prices. This is unacceptable behavior."

- I requested the execution of a very large order for disinfectant production because, with regret, I must state that some companies selling medical supplies or disinfectants are exploiting this situation and drastically increasing the prices of these products. This is unacceptable behavior - said Mateusz Morawiecki in an interview with Dorota Gawryluk on the program "Gość Wydarzeń" on Polsat News.

19:51

PMM:

We Must All Fight Fake News. Calm, Reliable Information is the Primary Weapon Against Coronavirus

- There is a full conviction that everyone, and you, the public, are doing a good job, we must fight fake news, false information that appears in public space, usually online, and that strikes at people's peace of mind. It instills panic. Calmness, reliable information is the primary weapon in the fight against coronavirus - said Mateusz Morawiecki in an interview with Dorota Gawryluk on the program "Gość Wydarzeń" on Polsat News.

19:57

Morawiecki Invites Opposition Leaders, Promises Transparency on Crisis Staff Discussions

- I can declare today, as I have signed the letters, but they will be dispatched tomorrow morning. However, I will take this opportunity and announce here on air that I am inviting all leaders of opposition parties. Tomorrow, I want to present in great detail the course of our discussion today at the crisis staff and I want to show how we are implementing best practices step by step, because as information reaches us from around the world, we can see how the French, Spanish, and German governments are operating. Not only do we have nothing to be ashamed of, but I am receiving communications stating that we are indeed very well prepared - said Mateusz Morawiecki in an interview with Dorota Gawryluk on the program “Gość Wydarzeń” on Polsat News.

20:22

Szumowski:

Today with Minister Maląg, we agreed – and this is the interpretation of the Ministry of Family and the Ministry of Health – that sick leave can be issued after a teleconsultation

- Unfortunately, sometimes this fear still exists, and it is understandable. In such cases, it is always worth calling, not necessarily showing up in person. We are now launching tele-diagnostics. What was in the National Health Fund (NFZ), the possibility of teleconsultations. Today PZU has launched its line, and the NFZ will recommend this form of contact for all family doctors – said Łukasz Szumowski in an interview with Edyta Lewandowska on the TVP Info program „Gość Wiadomości”.

- Furthermore, today with Minister Maląg, we agreed – and this is the interpretation of the Ministry of Family and the Ministry of Health – that sick leave can be issued after a teleconsultation. A patient who simply has the flu can call and obtain a normal sick note from their family doctor and does not need to come to the clinic – added Szumowski.

20:32

Szumowski:

The Most Important Thing Is Not to Panic. This is the First Epidemic of Its Kind in the World in the Age of Social Media
- The most important thing is not to panic, not to give in to emotions, because this is the first such situation, such an epidemic in the world, which is not yet in Poland, but we are constantly waiting, in the age of social media. The spread of false information or frightening information by people, we see people sending each other various information, can lead to what we have in France at the moment, which is effectively patient selection in emergency rooms: a patient goes to the hospital, a patient goes home. We would like to avoid that - said Łukasz Szumowski in an interview with Edyta Lewandowska on the TVP Info program "Gość Wiadomości".

20:39

Duda:

We are prepared to fight the coronavirus

"We are prepared to fight the coronavirus. We have met on numerous occasions – with the Prime Minister, with ministers. We have discussed these issues. We have strongly emphasized preparations. We are currently allocating additional resources. There is a great deal of goodwill and good will from Polish companies" – said President Andrzej Duda in Chęciny.
