Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki has begun his visit to Japan. Initially, he met with the most important group of Japanese investors gathered at Nippon Keidanren.

- Japan's dynamic development and technological advancement inspire admiration worldwide. When planning a strategy for the Polish economy, its transformation, we have sought to look at Japanese solutions that have led to economic successes - said the head of the Polish government in Tokyo.

- Since 1989, the size of the Polish economy has more than tripled. The macroeconomic and political situation reflects the healthy state of public finances and allows entrepreneurs to create and implement long-term plans. In 2019, we managed to record stable, yet dynamic economic growth of over 4% - almost three times higher than in the Eurozone - and a trade surplus. Stable economies, such as Japan and Poland, thanks to responsible management, cope even in unfavorable conditions - stated PMM.

- The geopolitical situation of Poland and Japan shares some similarities: Japan lies next to China and Russia. Poland is in the heart of Europe, between Germany and Russia. Geographical location was a burden in the past, but it is an asset that we are successfully utilizing. As one of the largest EU countries, we are excellently predisposed both to the role of a hub between Eastern and Western Europe, between the south and north of our continent, as well as a location for foreign investment - the prime minister emphasized.

- A week earlier, I was in Krakow for a New Year's meeting. I met with the debate organizers, or rather, I met them more directly, and I told them that it's indefensible, and I also stated this publicly. Platforma is also learning. There have never been elections where five candidates competed, and certainly for the future, for the next elections, we will think about a series of debates, debates about Poland rather than about Platforma. I am absolutely ready for them and feel prepared at any moment by my experience, my state experience within Platforma, and I suspect the other individuals are also ready to speak on any topic. It simply needs to be implemented. Today, we are drawing conclusions from the fact that it's better not to close off such debates. I think my colleagues feel similarly, as they have also expressed themselves. In the future, it will certainly need to be organized differently because it's important that not only members of Platforma but everyone interested in politics can see, compare, and listen. I believe everyone in that Krakow debate performed well, spoke nicely, and nothing bad would have happened if it were public. Furthermore, from what I know, as I spoke with the main organizer in Krakow, who said that under this public pressure, they want to edit such a film – it was recorded by some internal camera – and show it, because in reality, nothing bad or secret happened there. It was a good discussion - stated Tomasz Siemoniak in an interview with Jacek Prusinowski on Radio Plus.

- There is no office that someone could offer me, that I would... Absolutely not [I will not back down], I will fight to the end, to the last minute, because I am fighting for a certain vision of the Civic Platform, which I care about, in which I have spent 19 years since the first day, and that's what this is all about for me - stated Tomasz Siemoniak in an interview with Jacek Prusinowski on Radio Plus.

“The National Electoral Commission guarantees all electoral rights in terms of their actual functioning, ensures that elections are held properly, and above all, oversees and conducts the entire voting process, ensuring that the results are determined as quickly and reliably as possible and reach the public. It is, therefore, a fundamentally fundamental role in a democratic system, associated with extraordinary responsibility” – said President Andrzej Duda during the appointment of new members of the National Electoral Commission (PKW).

“Thank you for taking on this mission. You are very experienced lawyers. I have no doubt that in substantive terms, you are excellently prepared to carry out this mission. Thank you for accepting these nominations. I want to strongly emphasize the great importance of you as a group of experts who will lead the PKW. You are delegated by various institutions, but also by parliamentary clubs and political groupings. In a way, you represent the entire spectrum of the Polish political scene” – he added.

"For several days, shocking information has been appearing in the media about what is happening at the Central Anticorruption Bureau (CBA), specifically that money from its operational fund has likely gone missing. Various amounts are being cited - from 5 to 15 million zlotys. In an anti-corruption service tasked with fighting abuse, money is disappearing, public funds are being squandered. For months, there has been a conspiracy of silence regarding this matter. There has been no statement from the head of the CBA, the minister-coordinator of special services, or the Prime Minister. The very fact that money could have gone missing is outrageous. It's as if money was stolen from police officers, as if a skilled anti-corruption service allowed significant theft within its own ranks. We will submit a letter to Marshal Witek requesting information from the Prime Minister regarding the situation at the CBA," said Marcin Kierwiński from Civic Coalition during a press conference in the Sejm.

"Today, the head of the Polish government is a Prime Minister who has not yet disclosed his assets. What example does this set for services across Poland? What example does it set for citizens, if he hides his assets? Today, the CBA has transformed into a political police force. We know about the enormous operation conducted against Marshal Grodzki, how every day the CBA tries to convince Poles that the Marshal has something to hide on his conscience," added Cezary Tomczyk from Civic Coalition.

„Today it turns out that this institution itself requires special, additional oversight. Millions of zlotys have disappeared from there. We will move for a special session of the committee on special services concerning the details of this matter. Mariusz Kamiński should appear before this committee. This is a very serious matter. Perhaps more serious than Marian Banaś. We will move to supplement the Sejm's agenda with additional information from the Prime Minister or the coordinator minister regarding the situation at the CBA, and the oversight of this institution” - said Maciej Gdula from The Left during a press conference in the Sejm.

„The CBA has always been used politically. Today, we have a situation where the CBA is not just being used politically, of that we have no doubt, but it has also become a source of financing for certain groups or individuals designated by PiS. The Left has long proposed the liquidation of the CBA. We believe it is an unnecessary service. The competence of this service can be fulfilled by the state police” - added Andrzej Rozenek from The Left. 

On Thursday at 4:00 PM, a two-hour voting block will begin, during which MPs will vote on the Senate's motion to reject the Judges' Discipline Act – according to the published Sejm agenda. The resolution of the upper chamber has already arrived at the Sejm and has been referred to the Sejm's Justice and Human Rights Committee.

If we are talking about pressure from politicians in Brussels at the moment, then the treaties clearly state that it is the Member State that decides how its judiciary functions. In many countries, heated political disputes are taking place on these matters. This was the case in France at one time, and it is also the case in Spain.
