Senate Marshal Tomasz Grodzki is heading to Brussels, where he will meet with, among others, the Vice-President of the European Commission, Věra Jourová. A key topic of discussion is expected to be the so-called judges' discipline act, on which the Senate is commencing work. Meanwhile, at 12:00 PM, two Senate committees: the Legislative Committee and the Committee on Human Rights, Rule of Law, and Petitions, will consider the aforementioned judges' discipline act.

The first Sejm session of the year will begin at 10:00 AM with the first reading of the government's draft act on an additional annual monetary benefit for pensioners and annuitants, effectively the 13th pension. At 12:45 PM, the first reading of the bill concerning compensation for public media, submitted by the Law and Justice (PiS) party, will take place. From 2:05 PM onwards, the first reading of the 2020 budget bill is scheduled. The debate on this matter is planned to last until 9:00 PM.

Also today, at 10:30 PM, the second reading of the bill regarding compensation for public media will occur. Earlier, at 5:00 PM, the Sejm Culture and Media Committee will convene on this matter. This pace suggests a likely adoption of the PiS proposal in tomorrow's afternoon voting block. 

At 4:00 PM, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki will participate in the Welt Economic Summit in Berlin. Following the event, a statement to the media by the head of government is planned.

At 12:00 PM, President Andrzej Duda will present state decorations to individuals who have saved human lives at the Presidential Palace. At 3:00 PM, in Belvedere, President Duda will present Major General Wiesław Kukuła with an act of appointment for a renewed term as Commander of the Territorial Defence Forces. At 5:00 PM, along with his wife Agata Kornhauser-Duda, he will attend a holiday and New Year's meeting with representatives of the Jewish community in Poland.

"Deputy Marshal Kidawa-Błońska announces that she will present a draft resolution in the Sejm regarding Russian historical lies. The Deputy Marshal should know that work on the resolution is underway in the Foreign Affairs Committee, and its conclusion is planned for Wednesday. Every MP can participate," wrote Ryszard Terlecki on Twitter. Earlier, Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska announced that at the upcoming Sejm session, she would present a draft resolution concerning Russian propaganda slandering Poland.

Also today, the Chamber of Extraordinary Control and Public Affairs of the Supreme Court will consider legal questions regarding the examination of the independence of the National Council of the Judiciary. The case was originally scheduled for December, just before the holidays, but the National Prosecutor's Office submitted its position, leading to a decision to postpone to allow parties to respond. Furthermore, at the beginning of the Senate's session, the majority is expected to present a draft bill concerning changes to the National Council of the Judiciary and the Supreme Court.
