Horała:

There was time for Banaś to explain the matter. He didn't. Hence the urgent call for resignation. Clearly, he's no longer liked.
- [Marian Banaś] is disappointing because he has not resigned. He was given a large credit of trust due to his past merits. Certain doubts arose, and there was time to clarify them. They were not clarified in a way that was satisfactory, including to public opinion. It would be time for him to resign. As for these notifications - I don't know the exact content, but they are, from what I've heard, based on a report that is already months old, announced earlier... At least its theses were known. Back then, NIK, presenting these theses earlier, under the leadership of Krzysztof Kwiatkowski, who is truly difficult to consider a particular fan of PiS, did not find materials for notification there, now President Banaś has found them. Perhaps it's good, let the prosecution clarify it - stated Marcin Horała in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego." - The fact that now in the report, where previously no accusations were found, they are now found, raises some suspicions - he continued. - PiS has also publicly expressed the expectation that he should resign. Marian Banaś said that these are political pressures. It's not because he stopped being liked by PiS, because he joined Platforma, but because of the widely known accusations - emphasized the PiS politician. - There was time for Marian Banaś, as I say, using a certain credit of trust he had for his previous merits, to clarify the matter. He did not clarify it. Hence the urgent call for resignation. Clearly, he is no longer liked - stated Horała.

Horała:

I will present an amendment to the CPK Act in 2020

- To maintain this schedule [regarding CPK], an amendment to the CPK Act will of course be necessary, and I will certainly present it this year. In 2020. Mentally, I am in 2020. We won't make any big leaps in 2019 - stated Marcin Horała in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego".

- For now, we are sticking to the year 2027, although it is of course a world record, so sometimes records cannot be broken, but we still have a chance - he emphasized.

Łapiński on Banasi: It turns out the nickname "Armored Marian" was given for a reason. It's a bit like the Cossack caught the Tatar, and the Tatar is holding him by the head.
"Certainly, the ruling party would prefer that such a situation didn't happen to them, but since it has, they would prefer the head of NIK to resign. That's not happening. It turns out the nickname 'Armored Marian' was given for a reason. You can see he's a tough competitor. It's a bit like the Cossack caught the Tatar, and the Tatar is holding him by the head" - said Krzysztof Łapiński in an interview with Beata Lubecka on Radio Zet.

08:49

Łapiński on Banaś: PiS will certainly attempt to resolve this situation through legislation

"PiS will certainly attempt to resolve this situation through legislation in some way. Here, they may not necessarily need the support of the opposition, especially the Senate," Krzysztof Łapiński said in an interview with Beata Lubecka on Radio Zet.

Wójcik on NIK's notifications to the prosecutor's office: An absolutely unreliable attack. We disagree with the allegations

In my opinion, [the NIK's decision is] an absolutely unreliable attack. We are trying to defend ourselves, to clarify certain things. We disagree with these allegations. NIK concluded its inspection with a protocol many weeks ago. It was June. In July, we were presented with the post-inspection report, and then we submitted our reservations” – said Deputy Minister Michał Wójcik in an interview with Wojciech Dąbrowski on Polsat News.

09:52

Wójcik:

The Disciplinary Chamber Will Undoubtedly Function

The Disciplinary Chamber will undoubtedly function. There is also a case concerning the National Council of the Judiciary and the Disciplinary Chamber pending in the Supreme Court, which will be decided. What will happen in a situation where there are two different rulings in the same court? In the Supreme Court, where a ruling was issued by a three-judge panel, it does not actually bind even other panels of the Supreme Court” - said Deputy Minister Michał Wójcik in a conversation with Wojciech Dąbrowski on Polsat News.

10:24

Müller:

We Disagree with the EC's Remarks. However, We Agree That Further Judicial Reform is Needed and We Are Ready to Discuss It

- We are calm. We disagree with the European Commission's remarks. However, we agree that further judicial reform is needed and we are ready to discuss it - stated Piotr Müller in an interview with Michał Rachoń on TVP Info's program "Jedziemy", when asked to comment on the words of the EU Commissioner for Justice regarding shortcomings in the rule of law in Poland.

10:37

Müller:

Comparative work underway on disciplinary proceedings and judge evaluation systems in other EU countries

- The annulment of general norms is within the competence of the Constitutional Tribunal. In Poland, the judicial system is not precedent-based. Each judge makes decisions independently. No one would want anarchy in the legal system, and calls for someone not to hold a judicial position have no legal basis - stated Piotr Müller in an interview with Michał Rachoń on the TVP Info program "Jedziemy".

- Currently, comparative work is being conducted regarding disciplinary proceedings and the system of evaluating judges in other EU countries - he continued. - As a government, as representatives of the voters, we must ensure the balance of powers and, at the same time, the efficiency of the justice system. What Gersdorf is proposing will lead to a reduction in this efficiency - he emphasized.

Freedom and Solidarity: My Father's Guiding Principles and Legacy Celebrated in Wrocław

- My father was always guided by a mission to spread freedom and solidarity, and these two values, intrinsically linked and inseparable, formed the quintessence of his life, the azimuth of his actions. Freedom, meaning the liberty to take risks, to experiment, to seek new solutions, for Poland, for the world, for people. And solidarity, meaning connecting people with each other, connecting nations, bringing them closer together, seeking peace, democracy, precisely through these two great values. And I am grateful to all those who remind us how deeply he cherished these two values, which are timeless, even beyond Poland, our homeland - stated Mateusz Morawiecki in Wrocław, during the ceremony of unveiling a plaque dedicated to Kornel Morawiecki.

- Kornel Morawiecki's life was a gift to Poland, a gift to the world. My father also wanted, and continues to want today, for Poland to be a gift to Poles as well - PMM continued.

11:35

Emilewicz on Banaś: We Should Present a Proposal to Resolve This Deadlock

"We should present a proposal that will allow us to get out of this stalemate. The situation is a deadlock. The previous president held the position despite facing prosecutorial charges. I couldn't imagine this 6-7 years ago, and yet it happened. I would prefer for the Supreme Audit Office not to be headed by Marian Banaś, for him to pursue his rights and be able to defend himself without holding this position" - said Minister Jadwiga Emilewicz in an interview with Jacek Prusinowski on Radio Plus.

13:30

The Left Denied Access to CBA Report on Banaś Again. Zawisza: We Will Take Further Action

"We were at the CBA with a parliamentary intervention, where we again attempted to gain access to the report on the assets of President Banaś. We were informed that a decision has not yet been made on whether it will be provided to us, however, from what we heard and from the doubts expressed by the CBA's legal department, we can assume with a high degree of probability that the answer will be negative. The legal department claims that MPs do not have access to the report because it has been handed over to the prosecution. We have not received information from there either, so we will be taking further steps" Marcelina Zawisza from The Left stated at a press conference.

15:36

Budka:

I Earnestly Appeal for Disciplinary Chamber Judges to Refrain from Ruling Until Supreme Court Decision

I can join the appeal of the First President of the Supreme Court and the stance that we should not lead to even greater legal chaos. What is happening in the Disciplinary Chamber, which was entirely formed by the neo-KRS, only leads to the deepening of this legal chaos. I earnestly appeal for the judges of the Disciplinary Chamber to refrain from ruling until a decision is made by the Supreme Court. I hope they will heed this appeal” – said Borys Budka, the chairman of the Civic Coalition parliamentary club, at a press conference.

18:18

President Duda: Restoring Fair Courts in Poland is Difficult Due to Entrenched Old Guard
Restoring justice in Poland, in the sense of restoring fair courts, as you can see, is very difficult, because the old guard there holds on very strongly and does not want to allow themselves to be stripped of the privileges and power they have attained over people. But they must understand that their work is also a service to the Republic of Poland, and above all to Polish citizens, and that this is the most important thing, and that the citizen is not for the court, but the court is for the citizen, and that a judge serves the people and the Republic of Poland. Yes, this is clearly derived from the principles of the Polish Constitution, only these judges do not want to read this Constitution in this way. This is precisely the biggest problem. That unfortunately, they themselves deny that they are the true elite of Polish society. They usurp this title. I am very sorry to say this. A true elite cares for the interests of ordinary people because it is obliged to do so. It is precisely for this reason that it can be called an elite, that it sets an example for others. A positive, not a negative one. If it were otherwise, the social assessment of the judiciary would not be what we are encountering, that the vast majority of Poles speak very poorly of the judiciary, of how it operates, and whether Polish courts are fair. I will never understand how Supreme Court (SN) judges could rule in the same court where a judge sat next to them, about whom to this day you can listen online discussing how to resolve a case in the Supreme Court. And such a person rules alongside them, and it doesn't bother them. No consequences are drawn against him, not even in a collegial sense. And then they wonder why people call them a caste. But what else can it be called, if there is such a defense of unjustly acquired privileges in the form of evident inviolability and the inability to draw any consequences, both legal and disciplinary? Because they themselves are unable to draw any consequences against themselves, stated President Andrzej Duda in Nowe Miasto Lubawskie.

This is something that, if we do not stop it, Poland will never be a state of justice. Never. And the principle of justice expressed in the Polish Constitution will always be an empty principle. It must finally be filled with content, and filling it with content requires change. Only after these changes will Poland truly be able to become a just state. Many people in Western Europe do not understand this. They are unable to understand these processes because they have a different mentality. For them, it is unimaginable for a judge to do something like that. It is unimaginable that recordings with corrupt proposals could be heard online and when favors are exchanged, that judges agree among themselves how they will resolve cases in a cronyistic manner. This is something unimaginable. When these people are told that something like this is happening in Poland, they don't believe it. They say it's impossible. Meanwhile, anyone can hear it online. You just need to type "corruption in the Supreme Court" into a search engine. If you have doubts, please type it into your mobile devices, computers, and listen to what the judges at the highest possible level of judicial power were discussing in 2014. This system must be changed, and this requires support from the state and ordinary citizens. Because if this support is absent, we will all continue to live together in this post-communist system. Because these are post-communist customs, where there is a group of untouchables, whom one must not touch, just like they were untouchable before 1989. They wanted to change it then, and for 30 years the same thing has been going on. It's time for this to finally end. I am convinced that the majority of Polish society, the majority of people in Poland, expect exactly this. I ask you to speak about this clearly. This is probably the most important mission for the coming years of repairing the Republic of Poland, alongside improving the ordinary living conditions of people. I ask you to support such changes in the Republic of Poland, PAD continued.

18:51

President Duda: I want a just and honest Poland where every citizen is treated with respect and their concerns are heard

- Thank you for taking the time. I deeply believe that we will calmly and consistently build Poland as a just state, where those who commit crimes, those who engage in various kinds of wickedness, bribery, fraud, who deceive others, exploit them – that these people will be calmly, consistently, but ruthlessly punished, removed from their positions, and unjustly obtained privileges will be revoked, because this is elementary justice. I want us to reach a level where we can truly say: yes, Poland is a just, honest, democratic state, where authorities can be elected. These authorities are honest, and these authorities can also be held accountable in elections and on other principles, not that there are some authorities that no one has the right to hold accountable for anything, who are untouchable, and who were elected by who knows whom. I do not want such a Poland. I want a just and honest Poland, I want a Poland where every citizen is treated with respect and their concerns are heard. I ask you for support in striving for such a Poland and I wanted to wish you that it becomes exactly that. This will not happen overnight, but we are in a normal period, with normal parliamentary terms, capable of realizing this through honest, calm, diligent, and consistent work, consistent changes, and consistent repair of the Republic of Poland. We are all participating in this process. I ask you for support in this process - stated President Andrzej Duda - stated President Andrzej Duda in Nowe Miasto Lubawskie.

19:32

Wassermann:

Someone Should Warn Banaś About What's Happening in the Tenement House
Returning to this unfortunate hotel and tenement house, I believe that someone should warn Marian Banaś, at least, that such a situation is taking place. I think everyone should, in some way, take responsibility – stated Małgorzata Wassermann in an interview with Lidia Lemaniak on "Rozmowa Niezależna". - Without dismissing Marian Banaś's merits and hard work in the government, I believe he should reconsider his decision thoroughly. I hope this happens, and if not, there will likely be an attempt to take further action. This serves no one. As a person with a good memory, I would like us to also remember his good sides. I would not want Marian Banaś to lead to him being remembered only for the bad. Marian Banaś has a distinguished life story, he has been a person of significant merit for Poland for many years. When assessing him, one must see both sides – added the PiS MP.

19:37

Dworczyk:

I am convinced that the procedures and practices currently being introduced in the SOP will eventually lead to the service operating like clockwork

- I know the SOP commander personally, and therefore I can responsibly declare that the procedures and practices currently being introduced in the State Protection Service, I am convinced that they will eventually lead to the service operating like clockwork - said Michał Dworczyk in an interview with Bogdan Rymanowski on the program "Gość Wydarzeń" on Polsat News.

- It is a fact that some experienced drivers have left their jobs. Of course, there is no point in hiding that. They have been replaced by new ones who are trained. However, every year of work or service in such a formation, in such a position, brings experience that is extremely valuable - Dworczyk added.

19:41

Dworczyk on Biejat: Someone else would be better suited for this position

- Every committee chairperson, including Ms. Biejat, should remember that such positions are not granted forever, and if someone performs, fulfills this function in a way that they are negatively assessed by other parliamentarians, they can expect to be recalled - said Michał Dworczyk in an interview with Bogdan Rymanowski on the program "Gość Wydarzeń" on Polsat News.

- In my opinion, someone else would be better suited for this position - Dworczyk added.

19:46

Dworczyk on the Banaś Case: What are the True Intentions of the Opposition, which on one hand says the problem must be solved, but when we propose a solution, washes its hands because they see their political interest?

- Unfortunately, I already know that the opposition, to whom we proposed a solution requiring cooperation, has rejected this project. Now we must ask ourselves what the true intentions are of our colleagues from the opposition, who on one hand say the problem must be solved, and on the other hand, when we propose this solution, they wash their hands because they see their political interest in this matter not being resolved, but rather resurfacing constantly – said Michał Dworczyk in an interview with Bogdan Rymanowski on the program „Gość Wydarzeń” on Polsat News.

20:19

Tokarczuk on the Nobel Ceremony: "I Felt Very Calm on Stage, Even Having Moments Where I Drifted Off a Bit. It Was Pleasant, Calm, and Excellently Organized"

I feel restless when I don't know what's going to happen. Yesterday morning we had a rehearsal and everything was known – what would happen, who should come out, what to say, in which direction to bow. I felt very calm on stage, and even had moments where I drifted off a bit. It was pleasant, calm, and excellently organized. I saw the emotion on the faces of the audience, the faces of my family, who were sitting nearby, in the front rows. I saw that it moved people. I had the impression that I was in an unreal world. I apologize for answering this way, but it truly didn't evoke great emotions in me. The moment I found out about the award evoked great emotions. Reading my Nobel lecture evoked more emotions in me. This was simply a ritual” – said writer and Nobel laureate in literature, Olga Tokarczuk, in an interview with Katarzyna Kolenda-Zaleska on "Fakty po Faktach" on TVN24.

20:24

Tokarczuk on Conversation with the King of Sweden: 'I Started Asking Him About Hunting. I Tried to Show Him the Perspective from Which I Approach This Horrible Tradition. We Clearly Differed in Our Views, But I Feel We Heard Each Other.'

We talked [with the King of Sweden] about a multitude of matters. He is a very excellent interlocutor. Naturally, I delved into various things. Then, when I became a little bolder, I started asking him about hunting. I tried to show him the perspective from which I approach this horrible tradition. We clearly differed in our views, but I have the impression that we heard each other” – said writer and Nobel laureate Olga Tokarczuk in an interview with Katarzyna Kolenda-Zaleska on „Fakty po Faktach” on TVN24.

20:26

Sasin:

Today, the opposition unfortunately bears responsibility for the NIK President continuing to hold his position

- Unfortunately, everything indicates that a constitutional amendment would be necessary for this purpose [removing Banaś], because the constitutional guarantees for the immovability of the NIK President are very strong. This cannot be changed by an act of law. There is no agreement from the opposition, and therefore, I will state this thesis. Today, the opposition unfortunately bears responsibility for the fact that Mr. President will continue to hold this position – said Jacek Sasin in an interview with Monika Olejnik on "Kropka nad i" TVN24.

20:29

Sasin on NIK Report: No Basis for Such Harsh Assessments and Accusations

- This audit and report were ready in June. There were three post-audit recommendations. From these recommendations, suddenly 16 reports to the prosecutor's office emerged. In my assessment, I delved a bit into how this matter unfolded, I talked to people, I tried to find out, it seems there is no basis here to formulate such harsh assessments and accusations as has happened - said Jacek Sasin in an interview with Monika Olejnik on "Kropka nad i" TVN24.

20:31

Tokarczuk:

I was raised in the cult of Curie-Skłodowska. For me, from the very beginning, a woman has been someone strong who pursues a goal and does something important.

"I was raised in the cult of Maria Curie-Skłodowska. For me, from the very beginning, a woman has been someone strong who pursues a goal and does something important" – said writer and Nobel Prize laureate Olga Tokarczuk in a conversation with Katarzyna Kolenda-Zaleska on "Fakty po Faktach" on TVN24.

20:33

Sasin:

I Would Strongly Urge Against Undermining the Work and Service of SOP Officers

- I would strongly urge against undermining the work and service of SOP officers, because they are performing it excellently. I say this as someone who works with SOP officers on a daily basis, and I will continually appeal for respect for these officers - said Jacek Sasin in a conversation with Monika Olejnik on "Kropka nad i" on TVN24.

20:34

Tokarczuk:

I have my 5 minutes now thanks to the Nobel Prize, and then I'm closing this very extroverted part of my life and returning to my own life.

I have my 5 minutes now thanks to the Nobel Prize, and then I'm closing this very extroverted part of my life and returning to my own life. To writing, to reading, to thinking. I have a book I've started, so I don't intend to just stop working. I'm also not the activist type, so I miss returning to what I do best” – said the writer, Nobel Prize laureate in Literature, Olga Tokarczuk, in an interview with Katarzyna Kolenda-Zaleska on “Fakty po Faktach” on TVN24.
