“We must consider how we will interpret this ruling [of the Chamber of Labour of the Supreme Court] and how I will interpret this ruling for myself, what I will do in this regard. The ruling is unambiguous and carries significant weight for all courts, as it concerns the execution of a ruling by the ECJ. It holds almost the same value as a ruling from Luxembourg,” stated First President of the Supreme Court, Małgorzata Gersdorf, in an interview with Jacek Żakowski on Poranek Radia TOK FM.

“I will not change the law or dismiss these judges after a single ruling. I do not have the powers of the legislator. I can appeal, and I have been doing so from the beginning, to the legislator to seriously address this matter, because the Supreme Court and other legal bodies have long contested the Act on the Supreme Court, particularly concerning the composition of the Disciplinary Chamber and the National Council of the Judiciary (KRS),” she added.

- We are all, not just PiS leaders, but we are all disappointed that President Banaś decided to make such a decision. This appeal to him to resign was an expression, let's say, of the political will of the environment that proposed him for this position - stated Radosław Fogiel in an interview with Wojciech Dąbrowski on Polsat News' "Graffiti".

- I think that in politics, especially when we talk about important matters, because of course sometimes part of politics are meaningless squabbles or verbal games. But when we talk about truly important matters, affecting the state, its functioning, there is no point in talking about insults or courtesies. Here, tough decisions are simply needed - the PiS deputy spokesperson continued.

“I don't have the authority over them [judges of the Disciplinary Chamber of the Supreme Court] to take away their robes, their money. They have their own money. They are a court within a court. They should refrain from judicial activity. I will definitely appeal to them about this. What happens next depends on the legislator, how they regulate it,” said the First President of the Supreme Court, Małgorzata Gersdorf, in an interview with Jacek Żakowski on Radio TOK FM's "Poranek" program.

"I did not go [to the swearing-in of the new Constitutional Tribunal judges] because I did not consider it appropriate to go to the Presidential Palace. There are three candidates for the Constitutional Tribunal judges who have been waiting to assume these positions for years. The President does not swear them in, but instead swears in new ones, claiming he cannot avoid swearing them in. That's how the Presidential Chancellery is playing it a bit. This is the fundamental reason why I did not go. I do not believe, but my assessment is irrelevant, that individuals who have significantly violated the constitution are suitable candidates to hold the positions of Constitutional Tribunal judges. I do not approve of such actions." - said the First President of the Supreme Court, Małgorzata Gersdorf, in an interview with Jacek Żakowski on TOK FM Radio's Poranek program.

- We must begin by stating that Supreme Court rulings are not binding in themselves. They are binding in individual cases. This particular ruling was in an individual case. However, it is very often the case that other judges in Poland look at the Supreme Court's line of jurisprudence and adapt to it. This is not an interpretation. This is a response to the fact that the Supreme Court has indeed acted against the Constitution. The Supreme Court, in this composition, ruled that European law is more important than the Polish Constitution. Through this ruling, the Supreme Court is attempting to cede part of Poland's sovereignty abroad, de facto to the EU, which is absolutely inadmissible. This was stated by the Constitutional Tribunal in several rulings, at least two, and not under the current leadership, but when Mr. Safjan or Mr. Rzepliński was the President of the Constitutional Tribunal, when opinions were sent to the Constitutional Tribunal by, I don't know, Grzegorz Schetyna as Minister of Foreign Affairs or Bronisław Komorowski or other current opposition leaders, and everyone firmly stood by the position that the Constitution, because it is logical, it even follows from the Constitution, takes precedence over European law – stated Michał Woś in an interview with Beata Michniewicz on "Trójka's Political Salon".

„We want the public to see the CBA report. If Mr. MP Kaczyński and Mr. MP Morawiecki were able to review this report, why shouldn't Ms. MP Zawisza and Mr. MP Trela be allowed to see it? Today we will use our parliamentary rights and demand that this document be handed over. It should not pose any difficulty, as this document has been generated, it exists. We simply want to see it and familiarize ourselves with it. Undoubtedly, the knowledge we acquire will be an element of our motion for a State Tribunal against President Banaś. This motion will be ready today. We want to detail it, supplement it with those essential elements contained in this report” – said Tomasz Trela from The Left during a press conference in front of the Central Anticorruption Bureau headquarters.

Following the final rulings of the EU court and the Supreme Court, we appeal to President Duda to rectify his mistake and submit a law that will depoliticize the National Council of the Judiciary (KRS) and rebuild a system of judicial discipline independent of political influence. Today, Andrzej Duda faces a test of his capacity to serve as President. This will be a litmus test to see if he is, to any extent, a president, or merely subordinate to Zbigniew Ziobro, Jarosław Kaczyński, or Mateusz Morawiecki, and whether he prioritizes party loyalty over the interests of the state and its citizens - stated Kamila Gasiuk-Pihowicz at a press briefing. If Andrzej Duda and his superiors in the PiS government do not prepare such a law themselves, one that responds to the rulings of the EU court and the Supreme Court, then in a few weeks we will have a ready draft law for depoliticizing the KRS - the MP emphasized.

- In reality, it can be said that it was a black Thursday for Polish democracy. Under the cover of night, without photos, without media, without inviting external individuals, President Duda swore in Mr. Piotrowicz and Ms. Pawłowicz. Illegally elected by the Polish Sejm. From this very place, we also wanted to recall the declaration and thank for it, the declaration by Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska, who said that one of the first decisions would be to address the Sejm with an appeal to recognize this election as invalid, given that Mr. Piotrowicz and Ms. Pawłowicz did not meet the age criteria for election to a judicial office - stated Cezary Tomczyk at a press briefing.

In my opinion, this has already spun out of anyone’s control and will end with citizens completely losing faith in the legal order,” said Paweł Poncyljusz of Civic Coalition in a conversation with Jacek Prusinowski in Radio Plus’s “Sedno Sprawy.”

“Within the opposition, there are opinions that not everything in the judicial system before 2015 was ideal. The question is whether decisions are made faster after four years. Such a round table is needed today to outline our vision for the legal system, also in terms of disciplining judges who, at the district court level, are bad people,” he added.

On the other hand, there is court proceedings and a relevant, legally binding ruling, and a prosecutor's motion. And these mechanisms must be utilized. Let's not talk about changing the constitution, because it's not a good idea. The constitution has been the same from the very beginning, only amendments are introduced to it. It is a sacred law, let it remain sacred - said Lech Jaworski in an interview with Piotr Witwicki on the program "Wydarzenia i Opinie" (Events and Opinions) on Polsat News.
