Spychalski on the Appointment of the Senior Marshal of the Sejm: Macierewicz's Achievements for the Polish State, Our Sovereignty, and Independence are Undeniable

- This is the same Antoni Macierewicz who has immense merits for the Polish state, for our state's sovereignty, who fought very strongly against the totalitarian regime during communism, and that is why the President made the decision for him to be the Senior Marshal of the Sejm - stated Błażej Spychalski in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Piasecki's Conversation".

- Four years ago, the President adopted certain assumptions regarding the Senior Marshal of the Sejm. Four years ago, the President appointed the late Kornel Morawiecki as Senior Marshal precisely so that his achievements from the opposition era would be duly appreciated by the organs of our state. Four years ago, he made such a decision, and today, continuing the same policy, the same assumptions, the same assumptions that were adopted, he appointed Antoni Macierewicz. Simply put. Macierewicz's achievements for the Polish state, for our sovereignty, and independence are undeniable - emphasized the President's spokesperson.

08:13

Spychalski on PiS Candidates for the Constitutional Tribunal: The President Had Knowledge. The President is Informed, Consulted on Many Matters, and Also Had Knowledge on This One.

- The President had knowledge [about PiS candidates for the Constitutional Tribunal]. Yes. Of course. The President is informed, consulted on many matters, and also had knowledge on this one. This is not a matter of acceptance. It is the Sejm that makes the choice - stated Błażej Spychalski in a conversation with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego".

08:22

Spychalski:

I Think Tusk Disappointed Many of His Supporters

- I think Donald Tusk has disappointed many of his supporters. Certainly, when Tusk talked about why he is not running, he poured a bit of cold water on both Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz and Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska, because if he was saying that difficult decisions, the burden of difficult decisions, prevents him from running, then I'm very sorry. Kosiniak-Kamysz raised the retirement age, and Kidawa-Błońska was the government spokesperson - stated Błażej Spychalski in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego".

Neumann on Poland's Entry into the Visa-Free Program: Andrzej Duda Has No Merit Here

Andrzej Duda has no merit here. If anyone deserves credit, I would attribute it to Ambassador Mosbacher, whose visa policy, lack of refusals… This is an administrative decision. Polish-American relations after 1989 have been exemplary, regardless of which government is in power in Poland” - said Sławomir Neumann, a Member of Parliament-elect for Civic Coalition, in an interview with Joanna Komolka on Radio Zet.

08:35

Neumann on Tusk: I'm a Bit Concerned Because I Hoped This Decision Would Be Different, But I Respect It

"I'm a bit concerned because I hoped this decision would be different, but I respect it. I respect that [Donald Tusk] said it quickly. He said it now, that it will also help the Platform. Tomorrow we have a national board meeting, we've been having this discussion for a week. I was and am a supporter of primaries, but week by week there is less and less time to conduct them properly," said Civic Coalition MP-elect Sławomir Neumann in an interview with Joanna Komolka on Radio Zet.

08:43

Karczewski:

Tomorrow we have the Political Committee. We will certainly discuss the government's composition

- Tomorrow we have the [PiS] Political Committee. It's difficult for me to predict what will be on the committee. We will certainly discuss the composition of the government, but whether Prime Minister Morawiecki will present the government's composition tomorrow or at some later time, I don't know - stated Stanisław Karczewski in an interview with Dorota Łosiewicz on TVP1's "Kwadrans polityczny" (Political Quarter Hour).

08:46

Karczewski on Re-election as Senate Marshal: Chances Exist. No Guarantees.

- I don't know [if I will be the Senate Marshal for the new term]. Chances exist. There are no guarantees. The senators will decide, we will decide - stated Stanisław Karczewski in an interview with Dorota Łosiewicz on TVP1's "Political Quarter Hour".

08:57

Karczewski:

Of Course We Are Talking. It's Completely Natural to Talk in Politics. If There Were No Talks, Borusewicz Wouldn't Have Moved From Us to Civic Platform in 2007

- Of course we are talking. I would be dishonest if I said we weren't talking. Politics is dynamic. I won't say [with whom] now. We are talking. It's completely natural to talk in politics. If there were no talks, Bogdan Borusewicz wouldn't have moved from us to Civic Platform in 2007, but he did - stated Stanisław Karczewski in an interview with Dorota Łosiewicz on TVP1's "Political Quarter Hour".

09:06

Karczewski:

I Think There Will Be Political Transfers

- I think there will be political transfers. I think there will be. That's what we're aiming for. I'm not sure. We are talking, and Civic Platform is also talking - stated Stanisław Karczewski in an interview with Dorota Łosiewicz on TVP1's "Political Quarter of an Hour".

09:25

Karczewski Asked About Piotrowicz's Candidacy Withdrawal: 'These are different pieces of information. I don't want to comment on media reports for now.'
- I just spoke with Marshal Witek and she told me exactly about this procedure [for electing Constitutional Tribunal judges]. We had to do it because there is a discontinuity, there is also a deadline, so all clubs were informed about this procedure. Of course, this Sejm, which is ending, will not elect [Constitutional Tribunal judges] anymore, but in the next one, the election must be made as soon as possible. The [procedure] must be initiated - stated Stanisław Karczewski in an interview with Dorota Łosiewicz on TVP1's 'Political Quarter of an Hour'. When asked if Stanisław Piotrowicz's candidacy for the Constitutional Tribunal could be withdrawn, the Marshal of the Senate replied: - These are different pieces of information. I don't want to comment on media reports for now. I can comment on final information.

Błaszczak on Poland's Inclusion in Visa-Free Program: A Huge Achievement for President Duda

"We are talking about visas. This is a huge achievement for President Duda. This year, declarations between the presidents regarding the increased presence of American troops in Poland were signed twice. This is undoubtedly also a success that strengthens defense and security. The argument of military cooperation has always been raised. The American side remembers this perfectly" - said Minister Mariusz Błaszczak in an interview with Michał Rachoń on TVP Info.

11:22

Karczewski:

Sienkiewicz on Tusk's Decision: Primarily Regret that an Era is Ending, Admiration and Gratitude for Such a Responsible Choice
"Primarily regret, because a certain era is coming to an end. In a way, admiration and gratitude to Donald Tusk for such a responsible decision. It is not difficult for a politician to say 'I can be a greater burden than added value'. This is one of the highest levels of political maturity and greatness, to say something like that publicly" - stated Bartłomiej Sienkiewicz, an elected Member of Parliament for Civic Coalition, in an interview with Karolina Lewicka on Radio TOK FM's Morning program.

Nitras on PO Leadership Election: Trzaskowski Remains My Favorite; I Look for a Future Prime Minister, and Rafał is Closest to That Format Today
  • I have great respect for Waldek. I jokingly call him 'our armored Waldek' – because he has been in this Sejm for years, and everyone in the club knows he is indispensable in many matters. But it seems to me – and this is not ageism, nor is it a lack of respect for my colleagues over fifty, let's put it that way – that Platforma needs acceleration, needs new dynamics, and it seems to me that Borys is capable of providing it – stated Sławomir Nitras in an interview with Robert Mazurek on RMF FM.
  • That's a very good question [who he would see in the chairman's seat of Platforma]. And I will tell you this: if we manage to elect Borys Budka as the club leader, I will be watching him very closely... Could he be [simultaneously the head of Platforma]? I will be watching him very closely. However, I would not be lying if I told you that today Rafał Trzaskowski remains my favorite. When I choose the head of Platforma, I am really looking at whether we are choosing a future prime minister. It seems to me that Rafał is today closest to that format – the PO politician continued.

Sienkiewicz on Civic Coalition's Presidential Candidate: We Must Make This Decision As Soon As Possible. I Hope It Happens Early Next Week, Because I Can't Imagine Dragging It Out Any Longer
"I hope we will be able to select a presidential candidate as soon as possible. Until now, we have been in a situation where our legs, hands, and mouths were tied, waiting for a decision from the man who is the symbolic leader of the party, the formation," said Civic Coalition MP-elect Bartłomiej Sienkiewicz in an interview with Karolina Lewicka on Radio TOK FM's morning program. "We must make this decision as soon as possible. I hope it happens early next week, because I can't imagine dragging it out any longer," he added.

11:36

Sienkiewicz:

If Biedroń Runs, It's as if the Left Has No Candidate

If Robert Biedroń runs, it will be as if the Left has not put forward any candidate. I do not believe in Robert Biedroń's ability to mobilize the electorate, after what has recently happened within his party and a certain way of speaking about his... It is difficult for me to consider this candidacy for any particular scenario” - stated Bartłomiej Sienkiewicz, an elected Member of Parliament for Civic Coalition, in an interview with Karolina Lewicka on TOK FM Radio's Morning show.

12:11

Grzegrzółka:

Constitutional Tribunal Judge Selection Process to Be Re-initiated in New Sejm Term
On October 15, when the procedure [for nominating candidates for three Constitutional Tribunal judges] commenced, representatives of parliamentary clubs were informed that we were effectively initiating this procedure in the eighth term, but we would not be able to finalize it within the eighth term. The discontinuation of work started in the eighth term does not naturally carry over to the ninth, so from the very beginning of this procedure, it was known that the candidacies were submitted, which is true, but the election of three members of the Constitutional Tribunal will take place during the ninth term. Of course, the Marshal of the Sejm and the Chancellery of the Sejm decided to initiate this procedure because it followed the calendar. And now we come to the crucial issue in this aspect, which is this unfortunate calendar that has coincided such that the Sejm term ends at one point, and essentially the terms of the Constitutional Tribunal members also end at one point, meaning the procedure was initiated, but will not be finalized during the eighth term. It will be re-initiated during the ninth term, which is quite soon - stated Andrzej Grzegrzółka at a press briefing in the Sejm. The Sejm's Standing Orders provide for situations where these deadlines may overlap, when some intervention by the Marshal of the Sejm might be needed to conduct the procedure in a different way than is standard - added the Director of CIS.  https://twitter.com/MichalOlech/status/1192395407416008704

Grzegrzółka Addresses Journalist Restrictions in the Sejm on November 12th: "Everything will be arranged so that you [journalists] can work freely and report in detail on the first Sejm session."

- I saw some post online. Someone scanned our email. Please do not spread panic. Please do not talk about a closed Sejm. Everything will be arranged so that you [journalists] can work freely, to report in detail on the first session of the ninth term of the Sejm. The conditions will be changed to the extent that perhaps the place where we are [in front of the column hall] will be the main area for media activities, instead of the one above us [at the tables]. This is a certain retouching, but it aims for such, let's say, communicative values. There will be a lot of people, the connection between the Sejm and the Senate is also very important - stated the Director of CIS, Andrzej Grzegrzółka, at a press briefing in the Sejm, when asked why restrictions would be introduced on November 12th, during the first session of the Sejm of the new term.

Yesterday's CIS communication informed: - On Tuesday, from the beginning of the day, the area around the so-called journalists' table will be out of use. Therefore, please move or secure all equipment by the afternoon of November 8th. For journalists and media representatives on November 12th, room no. 106 will be available in the immediate vicinity of the main hall, with the possibility to follow the broadcast from the Plenary Chamber. The number of seats for media representatives in the gallery above the chamber will be limited - accreditations will apply.

The communication also indicates that the gallery will be available only to camera operators and photojournalists. This information was confirmed by the Director of CIS, arguing that the gallery will be practically full, and the sector very small. - It will be organized in such a way that you will be able to work normally and freely - he emphasized.

Civic Coalition Appeals to the President to Change the Senior Marshal Position. Kierwiński: Macierewicz's List of Lies is Very Long
"On behalf of the PO-KO club, we wanted to appeal to President Duda to change his decision regarding the appointment of Antoni Macierewicz as Senior Marshal. President Duda, despite having himself described Macierewicz's methods as UB [former communist secret police] tactics, despite a very clear conflict between the President as Commander-in-Chief and the Minister of Defence, is denying his own assessment and making decisions that we believe are wrong and disastrous for Polish parliamentarism," said PO Vice-Chairman and President-elect Tomasz Siemoniak at a press conference in the Sejm. "The list of Antoni Macierewicz's lies is very long, but among them is the biggest lie – the issue of the Smolensk disaster and digging deep trenches between Poles. It is about building political capital on the Smolensk lie, tearing at the wounds of the victims' families to build his position in politics. Antoni Macierewicz is responsible for all of this," added President-elect Marcin Kierwiński from KO.

15:56

Czarnecki:

As far as I know, Pawłowicz didn't run in elections because she knew she'd be a Constitutional Tribunal candidate. I can reveal years later, she was also a serious candidate for the CT 4 years ago.
According to my knowledge, Prof. Pawłowicz did not run [in parliamentary elections] because she knew she would be a candidate for the Constitutional Tribunal. According to my knowledge, these were the arrangements, stated Ryszard Czarnecki in an interview with Agnieszka Burzyńska on the Onet Opinie program. To the statement that the then-MP denied this, the PiS politician replied: Perhaps the professor didn't know about it yet at that time. But that's how we thought about it. Incidentally, I can reveal this years later. She was also a serious candidate for the CT 4 years ago, but for certain reasons, it didn't happen.

19:55

Zandberg:

The Idea of Macierewicz Leading the First Parliamentary Session Seems Unnecessarily Confrontational

- We have addressed the President with a letter because we believe that the idea of Mr. Macierewicz leading the first parliamentary session seems unnecessarily confrontational - said Adrian Zandberg in an interview with Bogdan Rymanowski on the program "Gość Wydarzeń" on Polsat News.

- It seems to me that the President, by making this decision, did not serve himself well either, because Antoni Macierewicz is a highly controversial politician and, to put it mildly, a controversial figure for a significant portion of Polish women and men, not just on the left, but often among conservatives - Zandberg added.

20:01

Zandberg:

I can imagine Civic Platform supporting a Left candidate in the second round. On one hand, there's the Left, which can reach an agreement, and on the other, there's chaos and indecision in the liberal camp of the Platform.
I can imagine Civic Platform supporting a Left candidate in the second round. If you look at the current trend, you'll see that on one hand, there's the Left, which can reach an agreement, can communicate, has a plan, and is implementing that plan according to schedule. On the other hand, there's a certain chaos, indecision, and lack of ideas in the liberal camp of the Platform - said Adrian Zandberg in an interview with Bogdan Rymanowski on the program "Gość Wydarzeń" on Polsat News.

20:04

Gawkowski:

We Will Field Our Own Candidate, We Want To and We Will Definitely Do It This Year

- The Left says yes: we will field our own candidate, we want to and we will definitely do it this year - said Krzysztof Gawkowski in an interview with Dorota Gawryluk on the program "Events and Opinions" on Polsat News.

20:06

Tyszkiewicz:

I am a staunch supporter of quick, dynamic primaries. It's clear that the greatest expectations will be placed on the Civic Platform candidate.

- I am a staunch supporter of quick, dynamic primaries because primaries give a candidate the greatest mandate. It's clear that the greatest expectations will be placed on the Civic Platform candidate - said Robert Tyszkiewicz in an interview with Dorota Gawryluk on the program "Wydarzenia i Opinie" on Polsat News.

20:09

Gawkowski:

There Will Be a Second Round of Presidential Elections Because Duda Won't Win in the First. He's Not Aleksander Kwaśniewski. He's in a Different Political League.

- There will be a second round of presidential elections because Andrzej Duda will not win in the first round. He's not Aleksander Kwaśniewski. He's in a slightly different political league - said Krzysztof Gawkowski in an interview with Dorota Gawryluk on the program "Wydarzenia i Opinie" (Events and Opinions) on Polsat News.

20:11

Tyszkiewicz:

These are presidential elections where one must reach beyond the party electorate

- This is precisely the point, that these are presidential elections where one must reach beyond the party electorate - said Robert Tyszkiewicz in an interview with Dorota Gawryluk on the program "Wydarzenia i Opinie" on Polsat News.

20:16

Śmiszek:

The Left Will Present Its Candidate at the Turn of the Year, Possibly Late December

"The Left will certainly put forward its candidate. The Left will present its candidate at the turn of the year, possibly late December. We have excellent candidates who are suited to hold this office. Robert Biedroń is one of the most popular politicians on the centre-left" - said MP-elect of the Left, Krzysztof Śmiszek, in an interview with Monika Olejnik on TVN24's "Kropka nad i" (The Dot on the i).

20:24

Horała:

Pawłowicz's Language in the Sejm Was Colorful and Decisive, Within Parliamentary Debate. In Her New Role, She Will Certainly Be More Restrained in Court.

I presume that in her new role as a Constitutional Tribunal judge, because it is a different role, [Krystyna Pawłowicz] will behave differently. Every adult adjusts their statements. We talk differently with colleagues over a beer, differently with our mother or grandmother, and differently at an official event. We adapt our language to the role. [Pawłowicz's language in the Sejm] was very colorful, decisive, and fit within the bounds of parliamentary debate. In her new role, Professor Pawłowicz will certainly be more restrained in court” - said Marcin Horała, a newly elected Law and Justice MP, in an interview with Monika Olejnik on TVN24's "Kropka nad i".
